What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I'm going to play a Duskwight Elezen because they have the look and feel of the character I want to play, and I play an Elvaan in FF11. I'm going to start in Gridania because it looks like a really cool place to start.

I'll be a Lalafell. In FFXI I rolled a Hume because, it being my first MMO, I had no idea what type of class I wanted to play. I always felt meanly about that decision, because I became a BLM and so I kicked myself for not being a Taru. Lalafell in FFXIV is my chance to redeem that choice, even though it seems like race will matter less this time around.

I'll likely be starting in the lush forests of Gridania. Probably not the best choice from an RP standpoint (not that I'm a major RP'er), but I haven't been truly excited about either of the other nation-states.

My first character will be a Lalafell Plainsfolk. I would start in the nation of Gridania.

Being that my online persona in FFXI is a taru, its only fitting that I'd continue the trend in FFXIV. The Lalafell race itself is very interesting to me - The fact that they are witty, quick and able to adapt to various enviroments means that, depsite their dimunitive nature, they would be able to take on any role and handle most things with little trouble. I believe that they are small allows them to better appreciate the finer things up to the tiniest detail as well as having the unique perspective of seeing even the biggest of things in a new way. Choosing the Plainsfolk was easy for me, because the idea of living in a fixed area thriving with life close to family and friends sounds a lot more appealing than harsh, dry, and nomadic life the Dunesfolk live in. This is also why I would pick Gridania, because it seems more 'down to earth' and natural to me. In a way, Gridania expands on some of the Plainsfolk's lifestyle. From their preferences toward living in hand-built tatched homes and maze-like passages, to their ability to match the enviroment and track the fauna in the nearby forests, Gridania has everything a Plainsfolk could ever want. Gridania adds a finishing touch to the mix by using the wisdom of the Seedseers to run the nation, something a race of intelects like the Lalafell would agree with.

A Miqote conjurer, starting in Gridania! Gridania sounds like a very natural/calm area, and it reminds me of Windurst. And I've always liked mage classes c:

My first character that I am going to create is a Lalafell because the character I used to play in FFXI was a taru-taru. I will most likely choose Ul'dah as my main nation-state, not sure though, still up in the air. I am probably going to be start as a Miner/Blacksmithing.

I want to be a Midlander Hyur and my starting class will be that of a Gladiator.

I want to start in Gridania in Final Fantasy XIV because that seems to be the nation-state that is full of vegetation and it reminds me most of Windurst in Final Fantasy XI. I want to be a Gladiator because of its resemblance of the Paladin job in FFXI, which was by far my favorite.

Race: Midlander Hyur
Nation: Gridania
Class: Gladiator
Reason: Gridania reminds me most of Windurst. Gladiator reminds me most of Paladin!

My first character will be a Dunesfolk Lalafell. I was a Tarutaru in FFXI, and see no reason to change. I enjoy being a complete opposite reflection of myself in-game. I am 6'6 IRL, so playing as a taru is highly entertaining as I am never used be being the shortest to anything! I also enjoy mages the most. So that's the obvious choice, my first "class" will have top be conjurer. Though I will likely daddle in thaumaturge also.

What nation? Do you have to ask? :) Gridania all the way. I am and forever will be loyal to The Federation of Windurst. I was raised by 2 hippies next to San Fransisco. Born in a city called "Redwood City". Tree's are in my blood! I follow a gaian / spira sort of spiritual lifestyle. So it just makes sense to live in a nation that will be visually appealing. So far we've only seen Limsa Lominsa, which is absolutely stunning, but I have faith Gridania will blow that away :).

Thanks to any who take the time to read my submission!

My first character will be a Miqo'te cause I was a mithra in FFXI and they seem the closest to them.
I will most likely start in Gridania since I like the whole city in a forest feeling that it seems to provide.

I am creating a lalafell who will be living in Gridania. I played a tarutaru in ffxi and Gridania seems reminiscent of windurst with all the trees and woody areas. :D

Well this is cool.

Anyway, I'm still Thinking about which race but I'm down to either Duskwight or a Highland Hyur. Starting area is goingto be Limsa Lominsa I've at least gotten that much down. Why? Well I love ships and port cities are full of them plus it should be packed due to all the traffic in and out. A good place for a pug to play or a thum to get information from the reaches of the world

Midland Hyur from Gridania as a Pugilist.

I love the idea of the forest realm, Windurst was my favorite nation in FFXI. Pugilist because I loved monk and thief, and they seem to be a combination of those two.

Was a Taru in FFXI and continuing that in FFXIV. Always regretted not starting a craft earlier in 11 so want to start off the bat this time.

My first character in Eorzea is most likely going to be a Lalafell. Why? They are so cute! I'm all about cute. Plus my 4 year old and 2 year old will get an absolute kick out of it. They love the cuteness as well. I will have to endure countless hours of my daughter asking, "Mommy, is that me? Is that me?"

As for nation-state, I'm going to have to go with Ul'dah because I'm a city girl. I'm allergic to nature and islands make me nervous. LOL So I'm going to pick a city because that is where I feel most comfortable.

My first character in Eorzea will be a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te Archer, and I will start in Gridania.

From the beginning of my experiences in games both offline and online, I have loved Archer and Ranger type classes. I have played a Mithra on FFXI for a long time now, so the race was an easy choice; I have to be a Seeker of the Sun because I love the bright coloration they seem to have. And Gridania? Well, I've always loved forests. A city that is both in and part of a forest is just perfect for me. :)

My first character will most likely be a Miqo'te Keeper of the moon conjurer and she will most likely start in Gridania. Why? In the lore of the game, Gridania is said to be where the elements are the strongest in Eorza and I think that conjurers, who use the elements, have their place there.

Oh my!

I have chosen to be a Lalafell Pugilist. In FFXI I played a TaruTaru for 2 years and really enjoyed being a magic caster, specifically a BLM.

My character will be started in the city of Grindania because of the magic and oracles that surround it! I have always loved Windurst the best and this city feels like it would be its closest relative!

I wish everyone luck as this is a very exciting opportunity for everyone in ZAM!

My first character in Eorzea will be a Wildwood Elezen (plan to play Conjurer) in Ul'dah. The reason for this is because Ul'dah really reminds me of the old times when I played FFXI and I can't wait to see the environment around there. I just think its amazing!

I'll definitely be playing a Lalafell as their character models just too cute ^^.
As for starting nation-state I'm leaning towards Gridania as the setting of woodlands, forests, coursing rivers, wooden structures etc.. just appeals to me so much more than the other starting nation-states.

My first character will a Highland Hyur Marauder because I enjoy spike damage (big numbers)! I'll be starting in Gridania, only because I started in wndurst for 11 and I enjoy the trees and nature. Hopefully i'll be as successful as I was in FFXI! Pick me for beta!!!! :D

I'm going to be a Roegadyn because they seem to have the highest capabilities in strength classes, if this is anything like FFXI.
My starting city will be Ul'dah because from the looks of it, it could be home to some arenas that Square might take advantage of for some pvp, and it looks the coolest, especially how its surrounded by a desert.

Question #1 - My first character will be a Male Lalafell Conjurer from Gridania.

Question #2 - Why? Just stuck in my ways, I guess. I currently play a Taru BLM from Windy, so it just feels like a natural transition. I like playing a small character with mysterious powers - unassuming at first glance. I really like the idea of coming from Gridania - it looks safe, hidden and like a part of the natural world. I don't want my character to hail from some place that looks like Medieval Europe, or anything that reminds me of real-life cities. As far as discipline, Botanist and Alchemist look tempting, so I haven't ruled those out just yet.

Good luck, everyone!

My first character will be a Goldsmither and Gladiator. Goldsmithing because I have always done the jewelcrafter in most MMOs and I've always greatly liked the big risk/reward. Gladiator so I can tank for my friends and protect them, and because the tank job usually falls into my area of expertise. I'm going to start in Gridania since it looks incredibly beautiful from the artwork and few shots I've seen of it. Anything but Limsa really since I'm already almost sick of it from all the footage.

A Hellsguard Roegadyn. Mostly because I wanted to play a Galka mage when I first started FFXI but the not so mage friendly racial stats steered me away. Hellsguard because red skin is something new and different. Probably start out as a Thaumaturge.

I honestly haven't thought about what town. Probably the one that is more of a coastal/fishing town. (Limsa Lominsa?)

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

It will be a Plainsfolk Lalafell, as I was previously a Taru on FFXI. Will be bringing the Taru-dance back! I plan on being Thaumaturge, perhaps Conjurer afterward. I love casters, you see, and anything that had to do with support roles. As for what nation-state I'll choose, it's likely it will be Limsa Lominsa, as I love the way it looks (I like water and the color blue) and I enjoy fishing.

My first character will be a Hyur Gladiator and I'll start in Gridania. I will pick Hyur as a race because it seems most adaptable when you consider that you'll be changing classes all the time - at least from an aesthetic appearance. I might have picked a Roegadyn, but the big race like that doesn't look quite right as a ranged or caster class. With the Hyur I look good no matter what I switch to.

I am planning on picking Gladiator because my primary role will be tanking. I just like to lead groups and be a tank.

I think I'll start in Gridania, mostly just because foresty areas appeal to me visually more than desert or beach/island/sea areas.

Male Dunesfolk Lalafell Thurmaturge/Pugalist/Fisherman from Gridania. I regretted not being a taru in FFXI so I am going to set it straight with being a lalfell in FFXIV. Race: Lalafell

Starting City: Gridania

I want to play a Conjurer because I've always played Mage-type characters in RPGs, they have always been a lot of fun for me to play! I want to play a Lalafell because they are small which makes nuking large powerful enemies not only a little funny but that much more enjoyable to me, and I want to start out in Gridania because I like the forest scenery.
