Race: Hyur - Because I always play a Human and want to make this one look like my FFXI char.

Class: Marauder - I always play a tank and it looks like Square is doing a bang up job of making heavy tank/damage dealers fun to play.

Nation-state: Gridania - Because it looks beautiful. I also plan on taking up carpentry.

My first character in Eorzea will be a Hyur Gladiator starting in Gridania.

I like the forest setting of Grindania, the regional culture of co-existing with the environment and the concept of my character being a highlander swordsman making a living in the wilds of Eorzea by wit and skill.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

My first character will be a Hyuran starting in Ul'dah. Hyuran, because I want to continue the spirit of my FFXI character, which is a Hume. Ul'dah, because it seems to be a very interesting city to me.

I am going to pick a Male Hyur midlander, because I want to create a character that looks like me. A Gladiator as my starting class, because i want to see how the sword and shield are different from other mmos. Ul'dah will be my starting city because it seems like the best place to start for a Gladiator plus not a lot of people know much about it.

Not sure on class yet I usualy try them all first, you never know what your going to like the best.

Loved 11, nothing else worth playing out there right now and 14 will blow cataclysm OUT OF THE WATER.

Going to go Highland Hyur and I'll like pick the Bastok-like nation of Limsa Lominsa. I've always loved Bastok and this gives me a chance to re-visit the good old days of it again! Aside from that, Limsa Lominsa looks very beautiful, so that also affects my decision, lol.

I'll be playing a Lalafell as their character models just too cute!!!!
I plan to start in is Gridania. In the map it seems that it will a very tactical spot to start from since it is in the middle of the continent being able to reach other places around the city.

Thanks all!!! Great!!!

My first character will be a Highland Hyur, and most likely a Botanist and Lancer.

I'll begin in Gridania because I'm a fan of forest starting zones. They're peaceful and lush. Ronfaure, Elwynn, Tirisfal Glades, they're all fantastic. I have a hard time starting a game in a dusty old harsh environment surrounded by wasps, rocks, and worms. :P Also.. Botanist? Need some big ol' trees for that. :)

Thanks guys!

I plan to play as a Roegadyn Sea Wolf, with Limsa Lominsa as my starting city because it seems fitting for pirates.

More than likely i'll start as a Male Midlander Hyur, because it's similiar what I played as in XI and is what I feel more at home with. I will probably start in Gridania because I always prefer the forest settings to big towns.

My first character in FFXIV will be a Duskwight Elezen, which I intend to play Thaumaturge. I think the importance of creating your own stats instead of having racial stats is a very interesting dynamic in FFXIV. For instance, in FFXI only the Humes, Tarus and Mithra were adept at being a spellcaster. If Galkas or Elvaan wanted to play a spellcaster they were a bit weaker than the other 3 races. However, it seems in FFXIV that each individual character is unique to the player, when looking at stats. I think this allows all players to play their favorite race without, or with minimal consequence.

I intend to play Thaumaturge, because it seems they have an interesting dynamic, using some light and dark magic.

I also intend to start in Gridania, the description of the city on the official website reminds me of my home in FFXI, Windurst, however, it seems a bit more civilized, as well as having beautiful scenery from what I can tell.

My first character will be a Wildwood Elezen, and i will most likely pick Limsa Lominsa as my starting state. I am choosing an Elezen because i was an Elvaan in FFXI, and i love the way they move and swing their weapons. Limsa Lominsa reminds me most of San d'oria, and that is why i will choose that state.

I plan on starting as an Elezen Thaumaturge... Elezen b/c my character in FFXI is Elvaan and Thaumaturge b/c it's probably the class closest to FFXI's Red Mage (which, was my first 75 in FFXI).

I'll probably be choosing Limsa Lominsa simply b/c that's the only city-state we've really seen so far.

What will your first character in Eorzea be?
Midland Hyur - played an elvaan in FFXI, I grew tired of looking like a giraffe.

What nation-state will you start in?
Limsa Lominsa - I always liked the idea of a port city, would have been a citizen of Jeuno in FFXI if I could have.

My first character will be a Miqote conjurer in Limsa Lominsa.

Miqote because I never got a chance to be one in FFXI and always wanted to.
Conjurer because I like healing.
Limsa because the scenery looks nice so far.

My first character will be a female elezen duskwight becuase I was a hume in xi and it was boring being a human, I am one in real life after all, and I will be archer/culinarian/ and possibly botanist. My city I will start in is Ul dah beacuse it reminds me of Bastok and that's where I was from in xi. I'm not fully decided though and may start in Gridania. I need to read/see more info on both of them first.

What class are you going to play in Final Fantasy XIV?
Class: Maurader

What race are you going to play in Final Fantasy XIV?
Hyur

Which is the starting city of your choice? (Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah).
Limsa Lominsa

Short text of why you would like to be in the beta.
I still have my 8-bit FF1 box, map and game. I have played every single square game made, love them all. I played ffxi for many years. I have beta tested many games. I am a information technology consultant. Being so, I will actually provide you feedback.

My first character in Eorzea will be Hyur and I will start in Ul'dah. I believe the Hyur will be a very well-balanced race, which would make it very accessible to any armoury system in the game. The city of Ul'dah looks like an amazing city which also seems like it would be a city built by the Hyur, so naturally starting a Hyur in such a city would bring more appeal to the role play setting.

My first character will be a Duskwight Elezen thaumaturge, starting in Gridania. I played an Elvaan in FFXI and generally like elf races in MMOs, and I'm hoping to use thaumaturge with some conjurer abilities to make a drain healer, something like Vanguard bloodmage. I think Gridania is the best looking of the cities.

Wow, this is a pleasurable sight to see so early in the morning! Guess I'll add myself to the growing list!

--Starting Race?

Still deciding between Duskwight and Wildwood, but in either case it looks like an Elezen for me! For some reason, I like the classic races (Human, Elf, etc.) and of course I play a Half-Elf when I do go on an epic journey with my friends in an old-fashioned game of Dungeons & Dragons!

--Starting City-State?

Obviously we haven't seen much except for Limsa Lominsa, but I'm liking the description provided on the official website about Gridania. Tree-huggers unite! (lol) Other than that, I like the tranquil nature of Gridania and its surrounding areas and look forward to discovering its secrets!

Hope to see you all in-game and good luck!

See you in Eorzea!

Right now I have multiple characters that I'm debating between playing for release. The one I know for sure is Autumn Delrend, a wildwood Elezen from Gridania. I mostly plan on doing crafting on her, and look forward to the chance to discover new recipes and make new items. As far as cities goes, in FFXI I started in Windurst and loved it no matter how much people complained about how confusing it was so want to join the city with a similar feel.

I'm going for Miqo'te as I use to play as a Mithra in FFXI. Now for my starting city it has to be Limsa Lominsa as I love the sea and kinda want to make my character a little like a pirate.

An Elezen Archer from Limsa Lominsa. I like the backdrop of the sea a lot and my elvaan ranger served me well in XI so I'm interested in playing it all over again in XIV.

I must say that my first character will be a Roegadyn gladiator because just like in any other MMO i like to play the tank role and for the starting city i must say that I'll do a head start in Ul'dah because I like desert settings and it is said this nation has a lot of mineral resources to fuel my miner/blacksmithing gladiator.

I am going to play a Duskwight Elezen Thaumaturge and i will hail from Gridania. I chose that race because in FFXI I played a Galka and I want to do something different this round. I picked Thaumaturge because I'm interested in playing a caster, I did melee in FFXI,WoW, and Aion so I'm going a different route. Gridania just suites me the best because I like the scenery and it seems like it will be a beautiful place, I was also from Windy in FFXI (Windy Galka FTW!)

if i were to get a beta key i would be a hellgaurd phalanx mostly because i would like to make sure they get tanking done properly. I want to try out hellgaurd because they're life mission is to make sure the dead stay dead and i can get behind that with a bag of chips.

Going to be starting in Ul'Dah if available scene a beta is to hard test the mechanics and areas of a game to make sure they work. =3 also i like hot climates so long as you don't have a thirst meter >.>;

major reason i want to try out the beta is because i intend to play the **** out of this game when it comes out. and i want to help in any way possible to make sure ff14 is the best MMO there is! the best way to do that is to make sure the tanking works properly. going to be starting a lot of party's to test the dynamics of that chart they got posted on the main site.

My first character will definitely be a Midland Hyur female and I want to start in Ul'Dah. I find the lure of the fighting arena and gambling halls to be very appealing and the location sounds as if it will bring a lot of trade and the chance to meet plenty of people.

I plan on playing as a Hellsguard Roegadyn. I want to stand out from the crowd and I like strong tempered look of the race.

As for starting starting city I was thinking either Gridania for the nice peaceful atmosphere, or Limsa Lominsa for the constant promise of adventure.

My character would be a Hyur, with the same style as my character from FF11, just because I really was content with my old character. I am considering a Lalafell, come on, who isn't.
For now I would pick Limsa Lomina as the starting city, simply because I feel there's not a lot of concrete info on the others at this time.

I plan on playing a Lalafell Thaumaturge and starting in Ul'dah. I've always liked magic classes, and I have a feeling thaumaturges will be fairly uncommon. I'm starting in Ul'dah because I'm tired of seeing Limsa Lominsa, Gridania will probably be overcrowded at release, and according to the FFXIV website, Ul'dah has the central location of the thaumaturges' guild.

Class- Marauder/Gladiator. I'm hoping to mix skills from both of these classes, wield an ax, and be an unconventional tank. :D

Race- Sea Wolf Roegadyn. I want to be big since I was a taru in FFXI. Plus I feel like the Sea Wolves aren't that popular so hopefully I'll stand out haha.

City- Ul'dah. Based on what I've seen so far, it seems like a pretty militant city, so it should be fun for anyone looking for combat. And their arena sounds awesome! I want to fish though.. might be tough in the middle of the desert. :P

My first Eorzea character will be a Miqo'te, and I will start in Limsa Lomisa.

Mithra were my favorite race in FFXI, from the expressions to the culture to the backstory that eventually lead them into Windurst with the Tarutaru. I've heard that Gridania resembles Windurst more than Limsa Lomisa does, but I'd love to experience the feeling of being a new voyager to a new world, and entering a massive coastal port hub with all of its own character and intrigue to it would illustrate a novel experience for a newcomer's first pilgrimage.

Gonna be making a Miqo'te in Gridania most likely, in loving memory of Windurst. The atmosphere and look of LL is pretty appealing too, though. Probably a Lancer and Tanner.

My first character in Eorzea is going to be a Duskwight Elezen starting in Ul'dah.

Why?

I'm choosing a Duskwight Elezen because they seem the most appealing to me as far as how I want my character to look.

I'm choosing Ul'dah as a starting point because I like how it's a beacon of liveliness surrounded by an otherwise desolate area.

My first character will be a Midlander Conjurer in Gridana

Why Midlander Conjurer? because in FFXI i played a Tarutaru named Jubjub and if i ever strayed from a mage class i noticed alot less invites, the thought of playing a mid race that can essentially be any class with no complaints. got to love the Jack of all trades as they say.

Why Gridana? simply put its because the choices are to start in a Desert a beach and a lively forest, with those options in mind I am easily going with the forest.

For my first character I plan on making a Lalafell, Dunesfolk, Lancer. I'm excited to be able to take abilities from other classes to create a unique class that specializes in enmity control.

I plan on starting in the nation-state of Ul'dah as it appears to have the most interesting back story and I want to see how the story with the "Syndicate" plays out.
