I will be creating a Highland Hyur Marauder, because of their natural ferocity, and low population of the Highland Hyur (They also look pretty viking!).

I will start in Gridania, because it looks the most like my original homeland, and that of the Northerners!

I am going to play a Hyur warrior starting in Limsa.

I have a love for the sea so the idea of a 'marine city state' sounds awesome to me!

My first character will be a Hyur from Limsa Lominsa. Hopefully I can get in good with the pirates from the area and pillage and plunder my way to great wealth and happiness. If I am rejected than at least I will be near a beach where I can cry my sorrows away.

I will be a male Hyur because I like to pick a character that resembles humans in every game I play. I am picking Ul'dah because i like desert environments and since the description says that the arena and gambling are going to be there I think that is where the action is going to be.

Mitqo'te Weaver, In the City that The Weavers guild is, Ul'dah, or so the rumor says. The reason i want to do this, is tailoring was My favorite craft in 11, and starting with that would just be awesome, to be able to craft my own equipment as i take on conjurer later on would have its own rewards :).

My character will be a midland Hyur Blacksmith from Ul'Dah. Blacksmith because I intend to start out crafting right away to help build the economy when the game starts, and also so I can make weapons so I can try out many jobs with weapons I've made "with my own hands."

My very first character will be a Miqo'te - Keeper of the Moon, Pugilist. I have decided to change my race and starting class and start over fresh to have a change of pace from being a Hume female mage. The City-state I have decided to call home will be Limsa Lominsa. My mind was made up once I saw the beautiful views the city-state had to offer from the eye catching decor of the Drowning Wench Pub, to the quiet romantic view of The Octant at night. In a way this will be a brand new start for me because I'll have a different character than what I've become use to, but it will also be familiar because Limsa Lominsa makes me remember my Bastokan roots.
#812 Aug 04 2010 at 11:37 AM Rating: Decent
I'll be making a Lallafel, (most likely a dunes folk.)
I plan on starting out as a pugilist, with cooking and fishing on the side, in Limsa Lomenisa.
I love the look of LL and fishing was always my favorite non leveling past time.

Well because the clan description states that they have acute sense of hearing that makes them great with hand-to-hand combat. also says that they will do anything to survive.

Ul'dah
because of the city's famed recreation, most notably the fighting arenas and the gambling halls.

I like the looks of Limsa Lominsa. It says it a rich city like Bastok. I'm going to be a goldsmither once again!.

For race I'm looking at Lalafell, I loved my taru and want to stay with that similarity. I'm not sure which mage I want but it will be a mage for sure!

The race I will be playing in FFXIV will be Hyur, undecided on the gender or looks yet, I have always prefered the way Square-Enix styles the armor on the Hyur, it always looks perfect and natural to me.

My starting city will be Ul'dah, to me it sounds like the most exciting, with the arenas, gambling halls, and the Syndicate which sounds like we will be in for a amazing story involving them.

My first Character will be a Hellsgaurd Roegadyn/Fisher(mainly) and a pugilist on the side.

Why?

I have always been a fan of the brute strength of the Galka in FF11. However some of the things about them i didnt like were the tail, and the odd proportions. But! that all seems fixed now and i would love to have the chance to test all that out. Also i was a huge fan of fishing. Always have been and always will be, and if i can help in the balancing and maybe give my input on a fishing system that will effect hundreds of thousands of playes, yay for me. If i were to play i would be fishing alot, so i would naturally have alot of feedback. Also i would be a pugilist because monk was my favorite class from FF11 also, and mixed with the brute strength of my Roegadyn, whoa....

I think ill probably give all the classes a little swing though. but chances are.. fishing all the way baby.

I will start in Limsa Lominsa probably because of the Port town, and again im a fisher, and the ocean is where its at for me.

Also...pirates ftw.

My very first character will be a Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun from the nation-state Gridania. The reason is because I have played FFXI for 7 years and i am a Mithra from Windurst, and I will always be in Final Fantasy. =) Also side note Mithra look really cute a lot better that FFXI I'm attracted to thier eyes. >.>

I plan to be a lalafell conjurer starting in Gridania. I want to try a new race this time around in FFXIV (was Hume in FFXI) and love to play as mages. I think the forested area around Gridania looks like a fun place to level.

My first character will be a Midlander Hyur Thaumaturge starting in the city of Ul'Dah. My previous character on XI was a hume and I liked it enough to attempt to recreate it on XIV. The reason why I chose Thaumaturge as my starting job is because I enjoy jobs that employ brains rather than brawns. I have heard that Ul'Dah contains the guild for Thaumaturges, which is also why I chose the city of Ul'Dah to be my starter City.

Thaumaturge Lalafell and Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te. As for nation-state, Gridania.

Why?
Lafafell because they remind me of my old adventures with my FFXI taru. Thaumaturge because I have always started past mmos as a caster archetype. Gridania for the many reasons but the biggest factor is because of the visuals of the concept art.

My first character is likely to be a Lalafell, to play with my husband. He has already played the beta in Limsa Lominsa, so we would probably start elsewhere, perhaps Gridania, as it's most like the beloved Windurst. :)

I played ffxi for like 7-8 years and would like to stay true to my roots and pic an Elezen Male and start either in Grindania or Ul'dah .. Reason i will start off in ones these two citys it because i was sandy in ffxi and the way limsa lominsa seems that it will be the sandy of ffxiv so i just wanted to chanage that up other than that i look forward to the game coming out with or without getting beta invite but guess its worth a shot to type a few reasons why i want in!!!!!!

I loved mithras and Mi'Qote's are just as cute! As for the city choice, I really like the description of it, very nature oriented and land loving.

My first character will be a Midlander Hyur Conjurer and I will start in Limsa Lominsa. I chose that combination of character, class, and nation-state because I like the look of humans this time, Conjurer looks to be about my style of play (Loved SCH style), and Limsa Lominsa looks amazing from screenshots I've seen so far. Not to mention I also love the backstory of Limsa Lominsa.

Q:What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?
A: Hellsguard Rogedyn, Ul'dah. Because I like the look of the Hellsguard they are big buff beings which I think is a perfect look for tanking. I chose Ul'dah because I love the whole bustling economic center feel of it, I don't like when your city is just empty with not much in it.

I'm still making up my mind, but I'm leaning towards a Lalafell Conjurer starting in Gridania. I've known I wanted to start in Gridania since the first information came out about the game, and I've been playing a Taru mage for seven years now, it'd be a bit strange to play something different.

I will be playing a Hyur Archer from Ul'Dah.

I've always wanted to play an archer character in an MMO but it seems so often the majority of its players are how should I say? Less intelligent? It seems fewer people are interested in the archer this time around so I'm going to give it ago.

I'm being boring and rolling Hyur simply because I want to look good no matter what role I take on latter and I'm starting in Ul'Dah because I love deserts.

Wildwood Elezen, I like to try many classes so ill list the ones i like in order between war/magic and hand/land.
Pugilist(starter), Thaumaturge, Conjurer, Gladiator
Botonist, Alchemist, Goldsmith, Carpenter
I will be starting in Gridania.
Gridania attracts me because i want to start off in an area that most resembles Ronfaure. Pugilist because I loved MNK and the rest of the classes because I find the roles interesting. Elezen because I want my RP character to carry over from XI. Finally I'd like to add that the main reason I would like to beta test is to try out the linkshell/company system before launch.

I'll be playing a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te, fisherman (er, fisher...catwoman?)by trade, and will likely juggle Pugilist and Conjurer as a main combat profession. I like the look of the Miqo'te and love their animations, although FFXIV's fluid animations in general look fantastic.

I like coastal towns and Limsa Lominsa looks great. However, Gridania may end up as my starting choice just to experience something new, since Limsa Lominsa has been covered so extensively.

Race : Wildwood Elezen
Class : Archer
City : Ul'dah

Starting off as an Elezen since I was an Elvaan in FFXI and like how the new design looks. I want to be an Archer because I would like to eventually be a Musketeer or whatever ranged class ends up being similar to a Corsair, so I might as well start off as the available ranged class. Starting in Ul'dah by default, however I will most likely choose my starting city based upon where my friends end up.

A Roegadyn Pugilist in Ul'Dah.

The reason being to return to my FFXI roots. My first character in FFXI was a Galka Monk who started in Bastok. I think the three choices above are the closest representation of my FFXI roots.

My first character will be a male Lalafell Pugilist by the name of Tyke Mison. He hails from the peaceful starting city of Gridania (Which I chose for its tranquility, and its dearth of potential punch-ees), where he hones his boxing skills not on punching bags, but on his unsuspecting opponents' shins and kneecaps. Despite of his small stature, Tyke hopes to become the greatest boxer that Eorzea has ever known. Cue music. FAINARU FANTAJI 14.

My first character will be a Sea Wolves Roegadyn and definitely going to start in Ul'dah. Fighting arenas and gambling halls, c'mon now, coolest city by far.

As for class, most likely Conjurer or Thaumaturge. As long as SE holds true to no huge differences in race stats, nobody can laugh at Galka caster anymore! (` - `)

I'm going to make a Lalafell Conjurer, starting out in Limsa Lominsa.

I love healing and looking over my group, knowing I have a decisive factor on keeping them alive. Lalafell's, great things come in small packages, and you've got to love it when your weapons are as big as you. Limsa's just beautiful, it's the city I see myself in when thinking about the game.

What will your first character in Eorzea be? I am looking at choosing a Lalafell without a doubt in my mind.

what nation-state will you start in? Again, without a doubt, I will be starting in Limsa Lominsa.

Why? I will be choosing a Lalafell because when I came back to FFXI I made my new character a Hume, and I always had a regret for not making another Taru-Taru like my first. As for starting in Limsa Lominsa, it is the one that has caught my eye with being a "marine city-state". It sounds like the most interesting & the place where I would want to be for fishing, which I quite enjoyed in FFXI.

Class: Thamauterge

Race: Hyur Midlander

Starting City: Ul'Dah

Reason: I am Role Player at heart but not just any roleplayer, I am a would be novelist, I wanted to excercise my knowledge of one of my characters in this vast new world. In this game I wanted to take the central role of one my many protagonists who starts his journey in my book in a desert region, he gains the ability down the line to infuse and exchange the sensory perception and energies between foes and allies and thus the reason for Thamauterge (since its at the moment the closest thing to what he can do). The race of choice is obviously because he is a human in my book. I also picked the region not just because of the book but because it is the location of the Thamauterge Guild. As former windurst observer in FFXI I also wanted to be in a place far different then my previous choice.

- I played an Elvaan male in FF11 and feel it's time for a total change. From various images I've seen, Limsa Lominsa is awesome looking and reminds me of Jeuno from FF11. That looks like a fun place to do things in.
