My first char will be a Duskwight Elezen thaumaturge from the city of Ul'dah.

I chose this char to be a revival of my old ffxi char in a new world. My old char was originally a drk, and thaumaturge sounds close to the magical side of drk, that i'm sick of melee. Ul'dah was picked for its relation to the thaumaturge guild.

I want to be a Hyur female. I can't imagine playing a male character! I'd like to be a lancer, as the party enhancing abilities look really interesting.

I would like to start in Limsa Lomisa, as the fairy-tale castle springing up out of the mist appeals to my romantic, fairy-tale loving side.

I'm going to play as a highland hyur because its seems like the race that can be any class with well rounded stats so i can change classes and not worry about bad stats and im going to start in Gridania because there flag is cool and my friend whats to start there

I'm not going to play just one class because I believe the developers are making this FF about YOUR character not its class, hence being able to slot almost all abilities in any job. However, my first class to reach max rank will definitely be a gladiator because I've always loved to tank in MMOs. He will also be Hyur since the races seem to merely be aesthetics, otherwise I would have picked the best suited for tanking.

I'm going to start in LL because of it's coastal and sea landscape.

First Character - I am look at choosing Hyur as my first character in FFXIV.
Nation-state- Limsa Lominsa looks like the most interesting, so I will be starting there.
Why? - I will be choosing a Hyur because I always stayed Hume in FFXI, even when I came back and re-started. It is just the most appealing class
Why? - For Limsa Lominsa, It looks like the most visually appealing city-states and I would love to start out the game with staring at some eye candy.

I'm going to be a Highland Hyur Gladiator, in 11 I was a mithra and everyone hit on me even though I am a guy and told them this over and over. As for where I will start ... if there's a city where you get bonuses from blacksmithing then thats prolly where I will head, if there's no real difference then prolly Ul'dah because of the trade aspect.

I am going to start as a Midland Hyur Female. It is close model to the last character I used in FFXI. I prefer light skin over overly tanned skin. I am assuming the stats if there will be stats base on race is going to be very balance. I saw in many youtube video I will be able to recreate the same character I used before. I am looking forward to start in Ul'Dah because of the mining aspect of the game. The guild Mining guild should be there, but unfortunately the Smithing and Armorer guild is in Limsa Lominsa. I am going with the Halone, the Fury for a guardian

Race: Hyur Highlander
Class: Conjurer
Starting City: Ul'dah
Why: I like the rugged look of the Highlander clan. I played RDM and SCH in FFXI so I think I'd prefer magic classes over melee ones. Ul'dah sounds like an exotic locale and I hope it features middle-eastern themes.

What will your first character in Eorzea be?

I plan on being a female midland Hyur. I'll be starting out as a gladiator or a marauder in Gridania, maybe.

Why?

All of my friends, except my brother who is planing on being a Roegadyn, are being females and of the other races.
Since I was mage type class in FFXI I wanted to be a melee type this time around but i'm not possitive if I want to be a tank or a damage dealer yet. For the nation-state, i'm not 100% on any of them yet but more on the edge of Gridania.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? I will definitely be playing a Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te. Probably start off as a warrior type class like Gladiator or Marauder. As for a what nation-state I am still debating whether to start in Ul'dah or Gridania.

Why? The reason I am going to play Miqo'te is because I loved my Mithra from FFXI, and I am a night person too so being a Keeper of the Moon intrigues me. I would go with a warrior class to start with because they always seem to be the easiest to start with and some times the hardest to master, so I will be able to start easily and be able to grow with the character class. With the nation-state I am having trouble deciding between Ul'dah and Gridania because I would like to start in Gridania, but I think it seems to be a new Windurst like city. Since Windurst was my starting city in FFXI I am thinking a change for the new game might be good. So I might go with Ul'dah because I always loved the Altepa desert and to start in a city in an area like that would be exciting for me.

I want to play as an Archer so Gridania seems to fit the mood. I have always played an Archer primarily.

My first character will be a Roegadyn Gladiator because I like how Galka have changed from FFXI and I love tanking. I will start in Limsa Lominsa because it looks the most beautiful to me from what I've seen. I really want to give feedback to the developers because I want the game to succeed and not fall into obscurity like most MMO launches do nowadays.

I will use Wildwood Elezen because I love being an archer in most every game I play. As for the nation-state I am leaning more towards would be Gridania, because of the leatherworking I assume will be very helpful as an archer.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

My first character will be a Midland Hyur Female. Main class will be Thaumaturge to start. The nation-state I will start in will most likely be Gridania, due to botanist and culinarian being other interests. Gridania also seems to be a more "earthly" starting nation-state.

Limsa Lominsa looks gritty and romantic, a port town... it also looks more finished than the other areas. In which case, perhaps I need to travel to get the Pharos Polaris to cough up her secrets or to sell my wares in Hawkers Alley. The art looks incredible.

I've preordered the collectors edition and I'm ready to test whenever you are SE!!

Race:
Hyur Lancer because the idea of fighting from medium range appeals to me.

City-State:
Limsa Lominsa because a city by the sea appeals to me. After all, I was born on a city like that myself in the Caribbean. Port cities are always a sight to behold.

I will be playing a Lancer Roegadyn, because they are big and awesome. The fact that my friend hates that race is a bonus!

As for the starting area, I will be in Limsa Lominsa. It somehow reminds me of Bastok and I really like what I have seen of it yet.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

My first character will most likely be a Midland Hyur Lancer (though I'm not counting out the Wildwood Elezen race, or the Gladiator, Pugilist, Conjurer, and Land/Hand classes). As for a starting nation, I intend on going with Gridania, due to its forest-y look. Something about it appears mystical and it grabs my interest quite well. However, I certainly find much appeal in both of the other options, as well. I like both the almost-medieval and the ocean-side pirate aspects of Limsa-Lominsa, and the sort of Persian-influenced desert setting in Ul'dah looks to be very interesting!

My first character will be a Lalafell Weaver--mostly because I'm not too crazy about any of the classes at launch, so I'll work on weaving and other crafts primarily until the first expansion comes out.

I plan to start in Gridania because it's beautiful and I'm hoping it will be most similar to Windurst :)

Character: Hyur Midlander Male
Nation-State: Limsa Lominsa
Why?: I guess I love being a human so much, and I love how Limsa Lominsa its essentially a port town. I live near the ocean so its pretty cool. Plus the leader is called an Admiral. That's badass, :P.

My first character will be a Miqo'te marauder from the seeker of the sun tribe, because I was a mithra war in ffxi and would like to relive my past glory in a completely new story. I will choose Ul'dah as my home, because if i am going to be a sun seeker the desert seems like a good place to start my journey.

I will be playing lalafell Archer, starting out in Girdania because it's foresty setting seems really peaceful.

I want to play beta because I played a lot of FFXI and loved it. Now that I work from home I have tons of time to test and give feedback during the beta stages, it's also nice to see how the games come along throughout beta till release.

What will your first character in Eorzea be?

To be honest, I'm still fairly undecided. Which is why I would love an opportunity to try out the classes in the upcoming beta 3. Not to mention help improve the game. As for the race, I'm leaning towards Duskwight Elezen, simply because I've never played as a Dark Elf before, and I want to try something new.

What nation-state will you start in?

As I said above, still undecided, but based upon what I've read.... I'm leaning towards Gridania. I like the idea of an peaceful forest to run around in.

I am going to be a Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun starting in Limsa Lominsa. Why, well I was a Mithra in Final Fantasy XI and at the end of the day I still love having a tail. As for Limsa Lominsa I never been part of a thalassocracy and the other two just some kinda been there done that. Something new is always exciting.

My first nation-state in Eorzea will be a Gridania because I love the forest, large trees, and it reminds me of The Sanctuary of Zi'tah in FFXI.

My first character will be a Hyur. I think they'll be similar to Humes in FFXI, and look better in armor. As far as the armory system goes, I'm definitely going to try out Marauder because I love to wack at things with an axe!

My first character is going to be a Lalafell conjurer also culinary. I decided to go for Lalafell this time because I like the look of them alot better than tarutaru in XI also I was sick of playing the tall elfy. I choose conjurer cause I usually play melee type characters and just wanted to spice it up this time. Gridania will be the place I call home in Eorzea not only because I love forest more than anything. but that the flag for Gridania reminds me of the Rod of Asclepius and since I work in the health field in RL I thought this was the perfect place for me.

Race/class: Duskwight Elezen Lancer/black smith

Starting City: Ul'dah
Why: I've always loved the harsh landscapes of the desert zones, and the kill or be killed mentality of survival there. Ul'dah seems to be a place that values strength and skill just as much as its values gil, and thats a place I can truly call home. However if i see an opportunity to gain more power by means of forbidden arts(I'm a true Blue mage at heart)
Then let them call me a monster, a truly powerful monster.

A conjurer Lalafell, the closest I can be to a Tarutaru BLM/WHM or WHM/BLM. Gridania seems most alike to Windurst which was my favorite City in FFXI and the nature environment usually appeals to me the most.

I want to try the beta so I can decide if I'll follow this path that is similar to what I usually play in most games or if I'll follow a different path, so I plan to try all different classes, races and cities as much as I can in the beta to decide when the game comes out.

My character will be the same as the character I created in FFXI, a male Hume/Hyur. I plan on exhausting the character creation process making sure every detail is how I want it to be. The City I start in will most definitely be Ul'dah. For the main purpose that I plan on crafting, and learning much about the economy and since It looks like a Trading City I'm assuming that it would be the ideal home city.

Good luck to those who get picked.

My first character will be a Midland Hyur Pugilist, and I will be starting in Limsa Lominsa. The reason I want to be a Midland Hyur is that I like the look of their male character model the most out of the ones that I have seen. As for being a Pugilist I love monk classes who fight up close with their fists.

For the starting city of Limsa Lominsa I just like the look of that city the most from the screenshots and videos I Have seen.

My first character will be Hyur / Highlander, and I intend to start in Ul'dah. In FFXI, my character was Tarutaru, but since the Lalafel are a little creepy (my opinion), I'm going for a Hume-like race this time around. As for Ul'dah, the surroundings most resemble Bastok, which was my home nation in XI.

After over five years as an Elvaan, I'm looking for something new. Something fresh and different for a game that is fresh and different. Roegadyn and Lallafel are not my stule, but an agile Miqo'te (Keeper of the Moon) looks like it would be perfect to begin my career.

I'm still in the air between Lancer and Pugilist; my loves in XI were MNK and DRG and I could never pick one so I will most likely be leveling both.

As for city, almost certainly Gridania. Limsa Lominsa's island setting is nice, but everyone in the beta is in Limsa. Uldah looks nice as well, but Gridania's forest surroundings remind me a lot of my days growing up in Ronfaure, with a touch of the nature element, akin to Windurst (Which, to the chagrin of my glorious San d'Oria, Windurst had the best nation missions. I'm sorry; it just did.)

So Miqo'te Keeper of the Moon in Gridania. Either a Pugilist/Lancer or a Lancer/Pugilist.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in?

My first character in Eorzea will be a Wildwood Elezen Lancer/Thaumaturge, probably starting Gridania

Why?

Elezen's are my favorite race and back in Final Fantasy 11 the Elvaan appealed to me the most. Lancer is a new class for me but appeals to me the most. Being able to attack, in melee, at a distance as well as through an enemy to get another/both with some skills is just an awesome combat concept. The thaumaturge spells remind me of the spells of a Dark Knight, which I was back in Final Fantasy 11, and being able to deal damage as well as switch stats around is a combat mechanic I look forward to exploring into. As far as starting in Gridania, it's a new adventure, knowing that Limsa-Lominsa was the starting area for beta, Gridania is all knew content I can't wait to see.

Nation: Gridania
race: Hyur
group: Highlander
Discipline: Gladiator

I know FF is a fantasy setting, but I can relate more to a Hyur because they are more human like. I would also choose Highlander since I am planning to be more of a physical discipline such as gladiator and so on.

My choice for wanting to choose Gridania as a nation is simple. The setting. Though the history and characteristic of Gridania is appealing, the setting of the nation also derives from it's history. It's a city based in a large forest, lots of nature surrounding it, very peaceful. It's the same reason I chose Windurst in FFXI.

Dunesfolk Lalafell Gladiator starting in Ul'Dah or Gridania. Tanking as a taru in ffxi was extra hard. I'm curious to see the changes in FFxiv.
