First character/Nation-state?: Lalafell/Gridania

Why?: Lalafell are the most ADORABLE things. And out of the three starting zones, I like the look of Gridania the most.

Race: Miqo’te
Class: Pugilist
Starting City: Gridania
Why: I played THF and NIN in FFXI so I think I'd prefer melee classes over magic ones. I plan to start in Gridania as a Miqo’te because it's beautiful and I'm hoping it will be most similar to Windurst. I chose that race cause they have speed, endurance, and i love Cat-like humanoids. :3

My first character will definitely be a Lalafell because of their similarities to the tarutaru in FFXI. I'm undecided of which job class to start with, but the Botanist definitely sounds interesting to me.

As for the nation I want to start in, I would want to go to Gridania. Being part of a city in the dense woodlands sounds really cool, and it kind of reminds me of Windurst

I'm probably going as a Hyur Lancer starting in Limsa Lomisa. I think the somewhat long ranged melee dps sounds interesting, plus I really enjoyed the Dragoon class in FF11 so I wanna try something that was kind of like them.

My first character will be a HellsGuard Roegadyn and starting as a Gladiator, he will be short and tough and full of fire in his heart! Limsa Lominsa is going tobe my starting nation since there should be better developed information to new players and from beta testers and hope that will make my first character more fun!

2) I chose Hyur based on their looks and the marauder class seems interesting.

I'm going to play a Miqo'te Pugilist, and I would start in Gridania simply because the Pug guild is there. I would love to test the abilities of a Pug in DD and tanking, especially tanking. I would try to mix and match some abilities from other DoW such as Defender to see if it helps tanking as a Pug.

- First character in Eorzea

I'm so going to be a Lalafell. I really enjoy the Taru race in FFXI and would like to continue my journeys in a similar vein.

- What nation-state will you start in? Why?

Limsa Lominsa because it reminds me of San d'Oria and that's where I started in FFXI. Not to mention pointy rooftops rule.

I'll be starting in Ul'Dah, since it will be more advantageous to me being a miner/blacksmith/armorer.

I will play a lallafell marauder I think because that could be a funny combination. I will start in Limsa Lamosa because it reminds me of Sandy in FFXI.

I'll be making a male plainsfolk lalafell conjurer. I'll start in Gridania. I love mage classes and thaumaturge doesn't appeal to me too much so I'm going conjurer and Gridania seems to be the home of the conjurers guild so I'll start there.

First Character

Race: Roegadyn of the Hellsguard Tribe

Class: Marauder

Starting City: Ul'dah

Why?: I chose Hellsguard, because who doesn't want to be a huge red beast? Plus, the Roegadyn's look so much better than their predecessor the Galka. I want to become a Marauder because it's the most similar to Dark Knights which fits perfectly with my choice of Race/Tribe and more importantly my play style. Finally, the City I want to start in is Ul'dah because of the lore behind the Hellsguard. I just want my start to feel true to what the original vision is for Hellsguard it will make my experience that much more satisfying.

My first character will be a Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun since I always regretted not picking Mithra in FFXI. I will probably start with Marauder but quickly try out Thaumaturge since they both sound interesting. I will start in Ul'dah since the syndicate might be interesting and I believe the guild for thaumaturgy is based there.

My first character on Eorzea would would be a Conjurer, of course! My first MMO was FFXI and I was a WhM/BlM -> Sum/WhM from the US release through the beginning of 2010. Since then, all my characters in other MMOs have been Mage-types and that's how I like it!

With that, I would start as a Midland Hyur because they're the more intellectual type of the two human-esque races, which I tend to play more often then not. Intelligent human Mages? Sign me up! :)

Q: What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

A: I intend on making a "version" of my FFXI character. Female Lalafell with the DoW as Archer, similar to my taru "Tarumara".
I want to start in Gridania, which to me, looks the most fabulous.

My first pick for race would have been a male Miqo'te, but since that's not possible, I'm going to make a male Hyur with the smallest height setting. I've already picked out most of the settings, the only thing I still need to work on is the hair color and highlights. The reason I'm going Hyur is because I don't really like the "feel" of the others. I suppose I'm still hoping that they allow male Miqo'tes in some future expansion, but I doubt it. And for class, I know class doesn't really matter obviously, but I'm going to start off with conjurer because I like being the "support" in a group.

The nation-state I start in will be Gridania. I want to start in a city that hasn't been shown in the official beta videos yet so I can get that feeling of wonder when visiting a city I've never seen before.

I'll probably go with Hyur Female Pugilist, with Miner secondary, starting in Ul'dah. I like the puglist's ability be tank and/or DD, and mining would provide a nice flow of gil. I would like to see Ul'dah, because the desert sounds like a fun place to be :D

Originally I was going to be Miqo'te, and remake my first character in FF11, but there will probably be too many of them. Depending on the looks of the server population, I might change my mind.

My first character will be a Midland Hyur Thaumaturge. I think the play style of sacrificing some of your self to the group and then taking it out on anything that gets in your way will be and interesting play style.

I would like to start in Gridania. I think a forest setting offers a lot of opportunities to immerse the players in the game world.

My first Character Will be either an DunesFolk Lalafell or a Highlander Hyur And the nation I will start My long epic journey into the world of Hydaelyn at Limsa-Lominsa. I couldn't decide on either to become a common race or try out a different race so I'm Still thinking about it and I choose Limsa-Lominsa because that place looks awsome when I saw the screenshots of it.

My first character is going to be a male Hyur Midlander, and will start in Ul'dah. edit - The class (the original post didn't specify what they meant by "be" so just in-case) will be lancer with a side of culinarian.

The reason for the character choice is that in most MMOs I tend to main a female character because most games tend to make males either super generic or kind of feminine; in both XI and XIV though you can actually make cool/badass looking male characters so I'd like to take advantage of that and have a cool main instead of being a moeblob.

And the reason for Ul'dah is so I can reach for the stars and gamble all my money away, that and I'd like to start somewhere other than Limsa after it being the only place we've seen all this time now.

My first character will be an Elezan Male. I'm torn between Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah. I wish we had a bit more information about the other nations, but I like the description of Ul'dah from the main site.

Have to be an Elezen at least to start as I was an Elvaan in XI. Ul'dah's full of gambling houses and an arena by the description, so a den of debauchery sounds great to me. Too bad there aren't pirates. I was looking to be a Marauder.

Miqo'te Conjurer/Thaumaturge

I'm having a hard time deciding between Gridania and Ul'dah. I'm not as interested in LL since we've seen so much of it through the Alpha/Beta testers. Ul'dah sounds cool mainly because of the desert location and the gladitorial Arena it's said to have. Gridania, on the other hand, sounds like it would fit my character's personality more. :)

Decisions, decisions :(

My immediate reaction to character development, with what I know, is to play a Hellsguard Roegadyn. I would like to start with a Thaumaturge and supplement the class with Conjurer and Alchemist. Because I didn't know much about the starting nation-states until recent research, my gut choice of Ul'dah was based on its location and architecture.

I was resistant to using magic in FFXI, but the Disciples of Magic look very interesting to me this time around and I think Alchemist would complement this. And while I've played a Taru, Elvaan, and Hume, the Hellsguard Roegadyn looks like a lot of fun to play as and for RP (maybe taking the attitude of TF2's Heavy). Now that I've read up more on Ul-dah, it seems like an even better fit. Reading that its patron deity is Nald'thal, one of my two favorites, and that it houses the Thaumaturge's guild, Arrzaneth Ossuary, Ul'dah seems like a great fit for what I have in mind for my character.

I'm going to be and Elezen because I was Elvaan in FFXI and just think they're both cool looking.
My starting class will probably be Conjurer because I usually play hand-to-hand classes I'd like to try out a more back line job.
I will most likely be starting in Limsa Lominsa because I like the name >.> but that may change if you get a cool beginning item for starting in the "correct" city for your race (a la FFXI).

A Hyur Lancer from Limsa Lominsa. Limsa seems like the most ordinary of the three city-states, and I want to explore the others as a simple Hyur and get a sense of wonder instead of starting off in those places. I'm still deciding on what other classes, but Lancer will be my main. As for crafting, I will probably be a miner and an armorsmith, as well as a fisherman (whenever I get the time)

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? I will be playing as a male lalafell, most likely a dunesfolk. My initial class will be Thaumaturge, and starting nation-state will be Gridania.

Why? I played a male tarutaru blm & smn from windurst in FFXI and fell in love with the combination. Although Thaumaturge is not like a blm or smn, I love caster classes and feel that everyone else will be jumping on Conjurer. Hopefully they release a smn class at some point for me to play with!

I plan on making a Male Lalafell (most likely Dunesfolk side) because they seem very wise, yet full of mystery, and I love the mysterious feeling.
I'm thinking about starting in Gridania, since it seems the lifestyle there is very peaceful and nature-loving, and how the graphics are in FFXIV I'm sure it will look just so beautiful.

My first and only character will be a Sun Seeker Miqo'te from the nation-state of Gridania. I chose the Miqo'te because I love cats and to me they seem to fit the Archer class I will play. When I think cats I think of them as hunters. I chose the lush forest looking area of Gridania because I love nature and hunting in the woods is what I believe a Sun Seeker Miqo'te archer would love to do.

"What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?"

I'm leaning towards a Duskwight Elezen Gladiator right now because while I like a variety of roles, I tend to be a very effective "tank" or frontline fighter. I also like the idea of starting out in Ul'Dah as something about the desert appeals to me more than the forests or seaside.

I will be a Lalafell Thaumaturge, and I'll start in Limsa Lominsa.

Someone who is in the XIV beta managed to snag a screenshot of a recreation of the Catwho Tarutaru from the character creation screen for me (no names named to protect the guilty parties.) Ever since then, I've wanted to see about recreating it myself. I like my brown hair, in real life and in game. ****, the fluffy upswept fan-spray hairstyle is how I usually keep my hair in real life too, because I'm lazy and it takes 5 seconds with a jaw clip.

As to why Thaumaturge? Cute + destructive = win. 'Nuff said.

Limsa Lominsa has a whimsical name and I liked the screenshots I've seen of it so far.

I'm definitely going to play a Miqo'te because I have been a Mithra in FFXI for several years now. Since I was a white mage, I'm also leaning towards Conjurer, but some of the melee jobs sound pretty cool, too. As for nation-state, I think Gridania sounds pretty cool so far because I think it looks like it would have some amazing visuals in-game.

I'm thinking probably a male Hyur Thaumaturge, starting in Ul'dah. Probably because it seems the closest to my male Hume Bastokian RDM in FFXI ^^

I love the sound of the Thaumaturge class so far as it reminds me of the saboteur from FF 13. Negative status ailments are always fun to dish out.

I want to be a Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te, mainly because I love cat people and because I've always had a thing for the moon. I'm pretty torn between blacksmith and armorer. I love melee so being able to craft my own armor is generally a must, but being able to find more loot is always something that's appealed to the treasure hunter side of me.

My first XIV character will most likely be a male midlander Hyur Pugilist starting in Gridania named Trip Fisk. The pugilist class just seems to be the most interesting at this point, while I like the aesthetics of the Hyur race. As for the city-state, Gridania is the one that sticks out the most to me in terms of looks and lore, and I love the thought of a forest city. I hope I can help the XIV team out by finding any bugs and glitches that they could polish out before release day.
