My first character in Eorzea will be a Roegadyn Hellsguard Marauder starting in Gridania. In real life I am a petite girl and I think the entire point of role playing is to do something you can not normally, like slay monsters. So if I am going to be something I am not, I am deffinately going to have to play the biggest, baddest guy there is and carry an Axe that I will never be able to even budge in real life. I am going to start in Gridania because of how my home when I was young was in a very rural place in which there were woods, streams and deer, I am just going to have to go with some good ol' nostalgia on this one.

What will your first character in Eorzea be?
A Hyur because I've always played the race that resembles humans the most, I like feeling represented it just gives the game a new layer of realism for me.

What nation-state will you start in?
Ul'dah. I like the quoute of the guy from the syndicate on the official page. Also Limsa will be full both with persons and pirate talk while Gridania makes me remember Windurst and I didn't like it. So it's Ul'dah for me.

Hi there^_^

I will be a Hyur, Miqo'te or Elezen Archer! I will be starting in Gridania because it is so beautiful.

Each tree, each shrub, each leaf, each blade of grass---we treat them as our own sons and daughters. And for that we are loved by this wood.

Just a perfect statement, I definitely want to be a part of this nation. I can't decide on a race, I will make that choice when I get access to a character creation ^_^ I've been around Allakhazam since the beginning of FFXI and ran a bunch of help threads for crafting and BST. Unfortunately there really is no BST for me this time, but I will also pick up a craft and try to get the same sort of thread going =)

Also I just noticed you created the post, Pikko, you probably don't remeber me (I changed my name as well), but hi ^_^ Glad to see you are still around.

Character
Roegadyn Gladiator - Tank, very easy choice as it's all I've ever wanted and been in any MMO I've played!

Nation-State
Limsa Lominsa - Easy choice for me, as I like the whole look and feel of the place. It's what I'd love to experience the second I hit the game.

My first Character in Eorzea is Midland Hyur and I will start in Ul'dah. I choose Hyur because I love Hume in FFXI and I choose Ul'dah because I like Desert look in other FF title.

I will likely make a Miqo'te and start in Gridania. I don't really have a specific reason to pick a Miqo'te, and I might not, but I'm starting in Gridania for botany and its central location on the map.

Im going to be a Miqo'te because I was mithra in FFXI and I love the tail! My starting city will be Limsa Lominsa because I love the look of it being right on the water.

As far as classes go, Im undecided between a lancer and archer. I definately want to get a jump start on crafting this time around though.

My main Character in FFXIV will be a Seeker Of the Sun Miqo'te. The ability to have two eyes of differing colors appeals to me. I have played FFXI for 5 years and my main was a mithra. Miqo'te will have the grace, agility, and last but certainly not least, the ability to bring smexy back! >)

The starting city would most likely be Gridania. It seems it will be very lush and vegetated (i.e Windy), and as others have mentioned central in location for maximum exploration! o.o

Thank You to ZAM for allowing us this opportunity to obtain beta keys. I, as well as many others I'm sure, have been following forums (i.e ZAM) very closely for even the tiniest bit of info. Your efforts to appease the masses will not go unnoticed!! :)

NEVER FEAR! Final Fantasy XIV will be greater than most have imagined!!

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

My first Character would be Highlander Hyur because I enjoy to play melee characters and I feel the represent what a strong warrior should be.

My nationality will be Ul'Dah, I believe that a warrior should be looking for fame and fortune, while in some cases trying to find what represents them as a warrior, a soldier and a person. Ul'Dah is the perfect place for a warrior to obtain that.

I will be beginning the game as a Highland Hyur Male. I will start my adventures in UL'DAH because i am interested in finding out more about its arena, and it has what seems to be the best chance of finding ores needed for my crafts.

My first character for FFXIV will be based off of my one from years back on FFXI, a Midland Hyur in Ul'dah. It reminds me of the most of when I started in Bastok/Gustaberg. As for my class specialization, Archer is what I'm liking the most. This character will be for nostalgia purposes, but I'll hang onto him for sure. That all said, I'm pretty excited for the release of the game!

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

Hellsguard Thaumaturge, Goldsmith/Miner
Starting nation will be Gridania

Why? I always loved the look and feel of Galka in XI, however they were highly persecuted if they tried to be casters and I'm hoping this time around to change that thought process in people. I want to start in Gridania because the art for it looks simply amazing.

My first character in Eorzea will be a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te Pugilist from Ul'dah. I always wanted to play Monk in FFXI, but never got the chance as I was always called on as White Mage. As for the city state, I'm choosing Ul'dah as I love desert environments and the concept art is amazing!

Absolutely play a Lalafell. love me the short little guys =P
I am also going to most likely play Gladiator. I played a Taru Paladin and was main tank of my END GAME LS in FFXI so I would love to experience that again.
Also considering Lancer.. but I don't know if I could do without a Wyvren.

As of right now I am starting in Limsa Lominsa, but my decision changed every day haha. I started in Sandioria as a Taru so being around certain races isn't a factor. I have to see what the mood of the area is for myself before I know for sure. If its got cool scenery and music i'm there!

I would LOVE to be in the BETA for so many reasons. I played FFXI for a long time until my account was hacked and I lost all will to start over again. I played since the release when i was 14, for about 6 years. I want to re -meet up with my friends from online again and have some of the best memories I have had as sad as that seems. I also have been waiting so long to see what the game is going to be like for my self. I think that being able to just sit and check out the environments would be SO AWESOME.
PLEASE CHOOSE ME, You would make a man very happy and pleased to be able to get back into the world of Final Fantasy Online. Therefore I can also check out the benefits of each class and race.

Thanks!'
Paul ^_^

Hard questions. I haven't fully decided yet but I'm currently thinking I'll be making a Roegadyn lancer with elements of a thaumaturge. I'm hoping I can create something of a dark knight but with a lance and some of the solo abilities of a rdm. If that doesn't work I'll try to make a rdm like character and if that doesn't work I'll just stick with a thaumaturge. My reasoning behind this is in FFXI my favorite jobs were dragoon and rdm. Dragoon is just an uber classic FF job and it's hard to go wrong with it but I really liked the wyvern buddy it came with...sad that I wont get it here. RDM was just awesome as he could solo anything in FFXI. I want to combine elements of both of them but since there's no wyvern I thought, why not, throw in some drk. I also want to tinker with woodworking and harvesting, perhaps alchemy as well. I'm not exactly sure why I want to do those...just seems interesting I guess.

As for the city state I'm stuck between Gridania and Ul'dah. They both sound appealing. Ul'dah sounds like a busy ancient middle eastern trade city and that just sounds exotic and cool. Looking at the picture of Gridania makes me think of an ancient elven (Lord of the Rings type) city, which is appealing. Currently aesthetically I'm leaning towards Ul'dah but logistically I'm thinking Gridania since it has the lancer, woodworking and harvesting guilds. I'm just hoping neither are too similar to their FFXI counterparts, Bastok and Windhurst. I didn't like either of them.

I've only played the FF MMOs very sparingly before, but as usual I will start a Hyur (Wow is the -only- game where I didn't pick the most human-like race first, that's usually how I choose to get used to the world). Culinarian appeals for that hint of RP, but Lancer appeals more combat/practicality wise. Probably see what the BF chooses to play too, and pick something complimentary.

And even though Limsa Lominsa is pretty, I am still pulled towards the idea of Ul'Dah more.. the hustle and bustle of a city and all the layers and classes living together. Plus it reminds me a lot of Alexandria, probably on purpose :)

My first character is going to be a Highland Hyur Lancer, and I plan on starting in Ul'Dah. I think Ul'Dah, even though there's basically no information on it, sounds the most interesting to me. Lancers were my favorite class in FFTactics, and Hyur's just look rough and tough!

And check this out, I'll give you FIVE dollars if you pick me! Yeah, can you believe it!? :D

At this time, I plan to play an Elezen thaumaturge from Gridania. The choice of Elezen is because it's 'somewhat similar' to my FFXI Elvaan character. As to the class, I've always preferred spellcasters and the idea behind the thaumaturge appeals to me. I chose Gridania because I like the look and feel of that nation most. Hopefully the nature-based nation in XIV isn't nearly as much work to get around in as the one in XI.

Im going to be playing as Hyur because i remember hume's being well balanced in FFxi. They were able to fit any role without many hardships. I can't really decide on a job I'm leaning towards archer because in the past i have been stuck as the Healer or tank.
I also think im going to be starting in the nation of Ul'dah because i read that it had fighting arenas and gambling halls (gambling halls = Beer j/k j/k lol).

1.) Midland Hyur - Weaver - Gridania
2.) I am taking a completely different approach to FFXIV and will be taking on a DoH as my main (in FFXI i never crafted). Because it seems more interesting and interactive, I am truly looking forward to being a Weaver~ I've also chosen Gridania as it will be beneficial to that class.

I am thinking my first character will be a Lalafell archer because I have always enjoyed playing a ranged damage dealer and ranger was just so expensive in FFXI. I am thinking I will start in Gridania because the forest artwork looks pretty neat.

I plan on making a Hyur female. I'm tempted by Mi'qote as well, but I had a hume F in XI and kind of want to stick to the similar look. Probably going to pick Conjurer since I like playing mages... and as for the nation-state, I plan on going with Gridania since I really like the forest setting.

My first character will be a Roegadyn Thaumaturge, and I'm definitely starting in Ul'dah!

Why?
I want to be a Thaumaturge because I love the support classes in any MMO, plus I see it as being one of the best classes to mix and customize the other disciplines. I also chose a Roegadyn 'cause everyone loves an over-sized mage. I'm most interested in Ul'dah because of its arena, but I'm also really looking forward to seeing the surrounding desert environment.

My first character in Eorzea will be a male midland hyur. I like to personalize my characters to fit my personality so I may be comfortable playing. This is why I don't do the "im a guy playing a girl's character" nonsense.

The nation-state I'll be starting at will be Ul'dah simply because I currently live in a desert city and I was also from Bastok in FFXI.

It's all about being comfortable.

My first character will be a male Plainsfolk Lalafell and I will start in Gridania.

Why?
It wasn't a hard choice really. I've been a taru the six years I've played FFXI and it would only feel natural for me to be one in FFXIV as well (well, a Lalafell). The reason I want to start in Gridania is that it's the city-state that appeals the most to me. Seems like it will look something like Rivendell from Lord of the Rings, which is my favourite city in the series.

My first character will probably be a male lalafell. Probably a lancer because they honestly look pretty cool runnin around with a spear like that. And I think I may want to start in Gridania. Why? Because I like forests and Gridania seems like the most interesting of the three starting areas. I'm really looking forward what kinds of mobs will be there.

My first character is going to be the Eorzean version of my FFXI character. His name will be Dom Francisco, and elzen with spiky blonde hair, and he will be the shortest Elzen in Eorzea.

My avatar in FFXI was the elvaan with spiky red hair named Domfrancisco, and my main mule was the same model with the opposite hair color (blonde) named Damfroncisco. I always imagined Damfroncisco was my main character's evil twin.

As far as which nation I will start in, I'm leaning towards Gridania, but I may choose Ul'dah instead.

I definitely won't be starting in Limsa simply because we've seen so much of it so far, I wanna see some new sights right out the box.

My first character in Eorzea will be called Cael - he's a hyur highlander marauder. Currently the plan is to start in Ul'Dah; the description on the FFXIV official website of this city state gives me the image of a city that never sleeps, bustling with people and just seems like a lot of fun, and that would be more than enough reason for me to start there.
