What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?
I'll be playing a Male Midlander Hyur, mostly as Gladiator, but probably also a little as Thaumaturge and Culinarian (mmm, foooood). The combat classes look like they're a little more dynamic now that the combat system in FFXIV is more active. I'll bestarting in Gridania, I love the concept drawings I've seen of the forest city. I was very fond of Windurst in FFXI because of its aesthetics, not so much because of its races, and I'm looking to find a little bit of the same
Why would I like to be in the beta:
I've been playing Final Fantasy XI for as long as it's been out in North America. My experience with it has been that it is very difficult for anyone to get anywhere without playing for several hours at a time. I have lots of small periods of time at my disposal, but rarely long stretches. Final Fantasy XIV looks to solve this problem by allowing solo play, small parties, and small play periods to lead to a rich and enjoyable experience. This of course hightens my anticipation for this title. I would like to be a part of the beta test to ensure that this aspect of the game is refined to its best, as I'm sure many of the other testers are really hardcore players looking for massive party experiences, and my addition to the team would provide a different kind of playtesting. It's obvious that the pleasure of getting a sneak peak of the game plays an important part in my desire to participate in the beta, but let's be honest, who here actually isn't excited about FFXIV? I have a solid experience with the game's predecessor, and I've taken part in several other Beta tests in the past (I'm also part of Sony's official beta testers and get roughly bi-monthly invitations to various betas on PS3), so I know the drill. I'm currently residing in Belgium but I come from Montreal (I have a North American Square Enix account. My copy of FFXI is NA), and I'm perfectly fluent in both English and French. My contribution could also serve to test the French localization of the game, and test in odd hours.
