My first character would be a male Hyur Pugilist in Limsa Lominsa.

I was an Elvaan last time, always regretted that choice and wanted to be human D: I'm choosing Pug because I love h2h combat classes. I picked Limsa Lominsa because the port city style looks awesome!

I plan on making a Thaumaturge, though Conjurer will be the first class I level in order to get some of the spells. Thaumaturge sounds like the most complicated class to master, which makes it the most interesting to me.

The starting city of Galdania looks nothing short of beautiful. I was a fan of the tranquility of Windurst, so Galdania looks like it could be the place for me.

I will play a Wildwood Elezen Archer from Gridania. i chose this the race because i really want to play archer. on the official FFXIV web site the Wildwood Elezen description stated that that sub-race was unmatched in their archery skills. i chose the City because i will be doing a lot of logging, harvesting, gardening and various other crafts. i believe this may give me a job start in those mane three disciple or land jobs

Race: Midland Hyur
Class: Leather-worker
Town: Gridania

Why: I crafted lots in ffxi and I want to be a crafter in ffxiv. I also want to test out the NPC markets to see if their fair priced just like the God Nald'thal, the Traders. Also see if there some loopholes RMT can abuse. Gridania was picked because that's what the ffxiv site says the leather guild is located. Anything crating related is a real plus to me and that's what I'm going to mainly play when the game comes out.

Let me throw my hat in and see what happens...

I think I want to try Lalafel this time. I want to stray away from a human roll. I wanted to play a taru in xi but chose hume. So I want to be the short midget running around this time around. My starting city would probably be Ul'dah. Seems to make a good home for my lalafel and the desert scene seems more appealing.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in?

I will make a Seeker of the Sun Miquo'te, and I will start in Limsa-Lominsa

Why?

Because in Final Fantasy XI I made a San D'orian hume, and leveled her too far to start over before I realized that I really preferred Mithra, and that Windurst was the best home city for rank-based gear and the crafting guilds I preferred. I don't know if Limsa Lominsa will be as superior as Windurst was, but I'm going to take this chance to make the kitty character I've always wanted!

My First Character into Eorzea will be, Wildwood Elezen.

The nation-state i will be starting in will be, Ul'Dah.

The reason i have decided to choose these are, I play a Hume Male in FFXI and i have liked the way Elvaan have held weapons and attacked and just looked, And for my Nation-State decision is because Ul'Dah sounds like a nice rich and scenery type of area and im all about the Scenes in any game.

Elezen Lancer starting in Gridania. I will also be a cook this time around because I totally skipped crafting in FFXI.

Why?

Pure nostalgia. First character in FFXI was an Elvaan and I loved the Dragoon job. Even though I left and came back with different characters of the years, and played other MMO's, never have I identified more closely than with that character. The fact that FFXIV gives me another chance to relive that experience is something I am very thankful for.

Good luck everyone!

A Hyur Gladiator, probably Limsa Lominsa. I definitely want my main character to be of the Hyur race. I believe my main discipline is going to be Gladiator, though I want to level up most of them and see which ones I like the most. Limsa Lominsa is the city-state I've heard the most of, so it's the only one I can really say I'm interested in right now. I'd like to see how the others look and feel before making a final decision on that though.

My first character will be a Hyur, and I will start in Girdania.

I almost always choose the most fantasy-like races, like elves. This time I want to create a character that closely resembles me and really get into it. I choose Girdania because despite not having much information about it, the city is surrounded by forest and green, which totally describes me :P

I will be a Midland Hyur male hailing from Limsa Lominsa. I usually always pick the most human race in MMOs for some reason and I am starting in Limsa Lominsa since the fishing guild is HQ'd there.

One of the main reasons I want to get into the beta is to test out fishing.

Hello: New to the forum. I've been really excited about 14 from the first time I saw it at E3.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

Personally, I've been trained choosing a race and starting area based on how it effects the class/job I want to play. More importantly, where my friends choose as well. I've been pretty stoked about the starting on the isle Vylbrand. Something about being surrounded by water and pirates just sounds like a good time. I'm leaning towards playing a Midland Hyur, Pugilist. I played and made several Thieves in FFXI due to the nature of being pure damage and the way they mesh well with other jobs.

I appreciate the opportunity you guys have given everyone to win a beta key.

Based on the classes that we currently have (hoping beyond hope for Musketeer)...

I'll be playing a Midland Hyur from Limsa~Lominsa. My character from FFXI was Hume (and I'm trying to recreate him) and Limsa~Lominsa has Pirates, Musketeers, Grog and a bar named the Drowning Wench. What's not to love, matey? I'll be playing a Gladiator that will be more of an amalgamation of nearly every class to create a Red Mage. Red Mage was always my one true love in FFXI, except it never got to use its sword as effectively as I'd hoped. Now that FFXIV is more of a "Choose your own Adventure(r)" format, I'll get to make Red Mage the way I wan.

I would like to start as a Elezen Conjurer, as it is as close to an elven caster as I can play. Whether it will be Wildwood or Duskwight, we'll just have to see.

Have only seen screens of Limsa Lominsa so far but they are absolutely beautiful. The costal-citadel type of city is my ideal of home. Gridania's lush forests sound very promising but I will be going with Limsa for now.

I am very interested in the beta to test how well it will run on my current set up, just to see if I need to do a little upgrading before its release. Good luck everyone :)

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in?
My first character will be a Miqo'te from the Seekers of the Sun clan. I will definitely start in Gridania with my first, and most probably all subsequent characters.

Why?
From playing Final Fantasy XI, I always loved Mithras, although I never played on... Was in love with their tails! Haha. And now that the Miqo'te seem to have even better tails in Final Fantasy XIV, I just have to play one. (And the Seekers of the Sun clan seems a bit more exciting than the alternative.) I chose Gridania because it seems to fit best with a Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun, don't you think? Not to mention, I love woody areas in games. :3 (The flag is also neat looking.)

Miqo'te Keeper Of The Moon Botanist/Culinarian or Thaumaturge/fill-in-later-once-more-data-arrives.

Why? The Miqo'te part is easy. The original Amagaim was a member of a "cat-like race" in a game called DragonRealms. (+5 geek points if you've heard of it. +10 if you've played it. +25 if you have ever heard my name referenced in-game.) And I would like to keep the trend going. The lore behind the Keepers of the Moon looks a bit more interesting than the Seekers of the Sun, and I'm all about lore. As for the classes, I've always found it intriguing to play a full-out support class, as they trend towards having a tougher challenge rating when it comes to leveling, and playing hybrid classes in combat is one of the most interesting ways to learn a game. Now... Adding TWO hybrid classes together... That sounds like fun!

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I think my first character in Eorzea is going to be either a Miqo'te, Highland Hyur or possibly a Roegadyn. I'm a faithful player of FFXI and love Mithra but a change will be nice this time around. If I play Pugilist then I want to start in Ul'dah because it seems the best choice for a character of fighting nature and also offers possibilities for trade as well. However, I'm also considering Archer so I'd probably start in Gridania for that, it appears to be the wisest choice for that class at first glance.

1. In any game I play when I have the choice, I always pick human, so I will be going Hyur. I feel as though it immerses me a little bit more, something I've been doing for years. My starting class will probably be pugilist, they appear to have a good variety of attacks and skills, both offense and defensive. I will undoubtedly switch, eventually.

2. I will be starting in Limsa Lominsa, as it reminds me a lot of San d'Oria, which was my home sweet home for many years in FF XI.

I am going Lalafell Pugilist. Lalafell are Taru done right, and I truly must see them jump up to punch a monster's face in.

For my first character, i plan to make a Ta..., i mean, a Dunesfolk Lalafell, what can i say, cant resist those cute little fellows. As for class, i will go for either a pugilist or a marauder(What best than a big axe to swep the floor with, and who better suited than than a clsoe to the ground fellow for the job ^^?)

Considering that its setted in a desert (guess its fitting due to my race choice, that my character starts settled in a enviorment similar to his origins) and due to it beeing a trade city, im planning to go for Ul'dah as my nation-state, at least until extra information is released.

and what nation-state will you start in? Limsa Is my home town

Why?: due to the fact that i like to fish in real life, i loved it in final fantasy 11, and i love the color orientation of the town.

My first character in XIV will be a Male Hyur. I was a Samurai in FFXI, and since there have been no announcements about a Samurai-esque class as of yet, I believe I will start as a Marauder (because of the 2-handed weapon similarity). I haven't quite decided the more detailed aspects of it yet, but I want to start in Ul'Dah. In FFXI, The Altepa Deserts were my favorite place, the music, the sunlight and the beauty of the area was so appealing to me, that I want to have that similar feeling in FFXIV.

Roegadyn Hellsguard, beginning in the nation of Ul'dah.

I would like to get heavily into crafting, especially a blacksmith. In FFXI, I was a crafter and really enjoyed it and
I would like to continue being a crafter in FFXIV. I picked the nation of Ul'dah because of the landscape, I like the desert and I think being a Marauder will fit that perfectly.
