My first character will probably be a lalafell conjurer. I've played a lot of melee classes in mmo's and I really want to try my skill at a mage.

I will probably start in Limsa Lominsa because I really like the style and feel of the city. Also who doesn't want to live near the ocean.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I plan on playing a Wildwood Elezen gladiator (Though I'll probably dabble in all the classes) and I plan to go with Gridania. Elezen because my character in Final Fantasy XI was an Elvaan and I'd like to bring him back in Final Fantasy XIV. Going with Gridania because I've always liked forests in fantasy settings, they always seem more mystical, and a Wildwood Elezen just seems like it should be part of the forest nation-state.

I'm planning to start in Limsa-Lominsa as a lalafell fisherman. Hopefully some off-shore fishing will give me the ability to wield some very large fishes to whack monsters with. Yes, that would be truly epic.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

It will be my tried and true first character in all MMORPGs: a defensive warrior type.
Therefor, in FFXIV, I'll try a Duskwight Elezen Gladiator. Elezen due to my wife's preference for elves or at least nothing human. Roegadyn is quite tempting though, or Lalafell. Love the idea of a pint sized tank.

Nation-state? Depends on who's paying the most!

Seriously though, Ul'dah. If that wasn't obvious from the statement above.

My first Character will be a Guardian - Male Elezen because my mains in both WoW and FFXI were DD's. And I plan on starting in Gridania because it sort of reminds me of San d'Oria and that was my home town for like 5 years...

Duskwight Elezen male gladiator starting in Gridania because I prefer the forest aesthetic and want to be a tank again. As for being an Elezen, there's just something imposing and fun about towering over most other characters and monsters decked in shiny armor :D

I'll be starting out as Lalafell <3, I'm currently a Tarutaru in FFXI and will keep the tradition rolling.

I'm leaning towards starting in Ul'dah, it seems like a wealthy, lively and busy city.

I will be a Hyur Thaumaturge in Ul'dah, with fishing and goldsmithing. Why. I am part of a role playing community and my character comes from a fishing village. He has set out for new fortunes in the dusty realms of the Ul'dah city.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I will be playing a Wildwood Elezen hailing from the nation-state of Limsa Lominsa. I have always loved Elven characters in general and I like the city of Limsa Lominsa because it reminds me a lot of the Kingdom of San d'Oria where I have spent 6 years of my life going through and logging out at. And I want to show my hometown pride again in this sense. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest :)

I'll play a Lalafell Pugilist with a DoH to repair its weapons.
Going to start in Gridania because I am also planning to be a carpenter and botanist and both of their guilds are there if I'm not mistaken

My character will most probably be a Lalafell "white mage" or something similar. I'll probably choose to start in Linsa Lomina because at this point it looks like the most interesting one, but we don't have much information about the other cities at this time.

MIQO'TE - Being Miqo'te will make it easier for old friends from FFXI to remember me. I used to be a Mithra.

GLADIATOR - I've played a tank in many a MMO, tanked endgame for some of the best guilds/linkshells, usually as a paladin, but so long as I can carry a shield, wield a sword and wear plate armor I'm happy.

GRIDANIA - Feels like it will have a lower population. My computer is superb, but still... just wanna play it safe with the lag. I also think the trees and such will be a nice change from the dirty, old, grey, stone atmosphere of Bastok in FFXI.

I'm most likely going to be a Lalafell Fisherman (Or woman :D!) owing to the fact that I enjoy the simplicities of fishing, sided with the fact that it is now a class, makes it an interesting thing I myself would like to poke into.
As for my Nation-State, I would probaly have to choose Limsa Lominsa, owing to the fact of, well, fisherman, sea :D.
Goes hand in hand doesn't it :3?
That and I enjoy the beauty that the zone itself provides, quite the amazing site, I would love to just get lost exploring it :D.

My first character will be a Miqo'te of the sun Marauder/Botanist. I was a Mithra in FFXI and can't wait to play it again. I will be starting in Ul'dah because I imagine a city based on trade will be a hub for everyone to sell and buy. It also sounds like it might be kind of a shady place which sounds fun to explore.

I will be a Lalafell Plainsfolk because I was a Taru in XI and, well, I think playing a small fry has become my online "identity" for FF. I've thought about starting in Gridania, but I think I'll actually start in Limsa Lominsa even though the alpha and beta take place there. It's not the city itself so much that makes me want to start there, but the surrounding area of La Noscea that draws me in. It reminds me of La Theine Plateau, one of my favorite areas in XI. I'm looking forward to spending part of my time in game wandering aimlessly across the plains searching for random stuff. I can't explain why I enjoy doing this. I just do. :)

I plan on starting my journey as a female Lalafell (Dunesfolk) in the nation-state of Ul'dah as a Conjurer/Thaumaturge. I adored the tarutaru in FFXI, so naturally I fell in love with the Lalafell. Ul'dah's desert environment suits this Dunesfolk Lalafell well and is the perfect place for me to call home. The magical arts have always appealed to me and I would like to continue mastering the elements. Crafting professions are quite enjoyable to me as well and I have fond memories of fishing, cooking and gardening.

I'm going to play a Miqo'te Pugilist since the first mmorpg character I've always played has been a rogue and the idea of a rogue who has tanking properties is fun, most likely going to start in the port side city of Limsa Lominsa since I've always love port side cities and I'm going to be a fisherman.

Race: Roegadyn
Clan: Hellsguard
City: Ul'Dah
Job: Thaumaturgist / Conjurer
Craft: Clothcraft

Offbeat characters are my calling card in most online games I play, so picking what I believe to be the more physical oriented class (Galkas in FFXI are physical oriented, which seem to be the cousins of the Roegadyn) and playing a mage appeals to me. What better craft to complement my burly mage than with tailoring / clothcraft?

Ul'Dah being the center of both Thaumaturgy and Clothcrafting, fits my choices nicely.

I'll be playing a Miqo'te because it's what I played before in 11 and I find their animations/looks to be the best. Classwise I'll either be a lancer or a marauder as I prefer 2h weapons/animations.

As for starting nation, I'll be starting in whichever is laid out the best or the easiest to get around to what you need. I'm not a particular fan of giant cities that take forever to get around in.

I plan on making a Miqo'te of the Seeker of the Sun Clan. Primal races appeal to me with their strong connection to the sun and natural forces.
Gridania seems to be the perfect choice for an independent Miqo'te who hunts for her food with its strong connection to forest.
I like hunters, so naturally my Miqo'te will be an Archer.
While some food is best eaten raw, I think the Culinary arts would be a good fit. The best meals are prepared with the freshest ingredients, and the freshest ingredients can be obtained by someone who hunts for their own.

My first char would have to be an Elezen Conjurer simply because my favorite class in any game (if possible) is a mage. Nation wise, I would start in Limsa Lominsa because I think it looks the best out of the three and always did have a thing for coastal cities.

My first character would be a Wildwood Elezen on Gridania.
Why?
Elezen are a proud race like their Elvaan counterpart and although maybe they do not have a great kingdom like San D'oria I still think is the race that would suit myself. Also Gridania for the environmental aspect and impact it would have in the wildwood Elezen on RP.

I've always played tank characters and the Gladiator seems like the class I will most identify with. I would like to start in Ul'dah because I absolutely love the concept art I've seen of the city-state and it from what I've read it's supposed to be a central area for merchants.
Sounds great!

* Which character will i play?
Lalafell, (Falafel?), Conjurer!.

* Which starting city will I choose?
Gridania, reminds me of windurst.

*Why?

I've been keeping up the news of FFXIV since it was announced and been watching out for this site's news since it launched (though i'm not much of a forum person), I'd be eager to try out this game first hand.

I've been in FFXI (English) Beta and Aion's (again, English) Beta and i'd love to try and test FFXIV's content and try to contribute in enhancing it's experience!.

My first character will be a Hyur Conjurer hailing from Limsa Lominsa. Hyur because I find the race to be the most aesthetically pleasing, and Conjurer because black mage-style casters are awesome and their pointy hats look totally badass. I chose Limsa Lominsa for a starting city because, again, I find it to be quite beautiful -- a city practically suspended over the sea is a rather breathtaking sight.

My first character will definatly be a Elezen (Archer). I feel like they're the middle ground betweed all the races, not too big, not too small. Definatly Limsa Lominsa too, as it looks just like Jeuno.

going to play wildwood elezen or midland hyur <- it depends on which female version is more pretty when i get to make the character! i've always focus more on female characters in all of my ff series (7-13), so guess thats why i wanna play those 2 race... (not too into tiny ppl and cat girls lol)

nation would probably be Gridania coz concept art is just amazing!

My first character would be a female midland hyur and she would be a conjuror / thaumaturge for DoM and a culinarian / Botanist as far as crafting goes. I've played a female hume in FFXI and this would mos closely resemble that character.

My starting town would be ul'dah, mainly because the desert setting really appeals to me and the description of the city on the official site has peaked my interest.

As a class i will take a Pugilist because i've always been a fan of the hand-to-hand quick combat style.

I will start on Gridania because as a seeker of the sun i'd like my character to live within nature and Gridania supplies me with that option :)

First character is going to be a Miqo’te Keeper of the moon under the nation of Limsa Lominsa.

After spending 8+ years as an elvaan male MNK it is time for a change and I have always enjoyed the playful nature of the Mithra in FFXI.

The reason I choose Limsa Lominsa for a starting nation is due to the very likeness of Sandy from FFXI which was my starting nation so long ago. It will be the ending of the old and a start with a somewhat familiar new beginning.

I'm sure my first character will be a Hyur or Elezen Conjurer of Gridania! I want a race that is well-rounded. I enjoy playing solo often so I'd like to be able to switch to different classes and not feel gimped. If there are no racial adjustments, I'd likely go Elezen (since they look badass!) I've always enjoyed playing the caster/healer role in other MMOs so I think Conjurer is a good match for me. (Every party needs a good healer!) I've never played FFXI, so I'm doubly excited for FFXIV as I have no idea what to expect! Can't wait!
