First Character: Hyur Highlander Gladiator
Home city: Ul'dah

I've always fond of using "human" races in MMOs, though I have dabbled as a dwarf, heh. Basically I choose humanesque races because it gives me the chance to use a character persona I've used in role playing for over twenty years. I'm choosing to be a Gladiator, because, well...I'm a tank. I usually play tanks unless there is a DPS I fall in love with, and right now I'm not into the current DPS options. So, I'm ready to pick up my sword and board and be a meatshield people can count on to get the job done.

I'm choosing Ul'dah because as an old school FF XI man, I'm a Bastokan at heart. Looking at Ul'dah I immediately feel the old pull of Bastok, so I kinda feel like I'm coming home again. It's just that simple.

My first character will almost certainly be an Elezen. I chose a Hume in FFXI because of the statistical balance--I had no idea what I wanted to play at first, so it seemed a sound idea--but regretted the decision later for aesthetic reasons; I felt bland. I like tall elves, and both of the clans of Elezen have good roleplaying potential. (It is possible I will change my mind and make a Mi'qote, but I'm leaning way towards Elezen.) As for a discipline, Lancer looks promising.

I will start in Gridania because I love forests, especially those of the large, mysterious kind. My favorite place in Vana'diel was the Sanctuary of Zi'tah, and I hope to find equally beautiful places on Eorzea.

What class are you going to play in Final Fantasy XIV?

-Pugilist

What race are you going to play in Final Fantasy XIV?

-Lalafell

Which is the starting city of your choice? (Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah)

Ul'dah

A short text of why you would like to be in the beta.

-I've been a long term fan of the FF series, especially FFIII and FFXI. I'm also a huge fan of MMORPG's. I've been through many of the new MMO's as a beta tester and testing out the quirks and reporting bugs and doing my part to help develop the game the best way I can. I want to be able to do the same with FFXIV.

Lallafell, Archer because I always liked the ranged classes and the Lallafells appearance is nice. I'll be starting in Ul'Dah because it's a beautiful town with lots of stuff to do, like visiting the fighting arena.

1. Alemina - Hyur Thaumaturge. Played a WHM of the same name for around three years in FFXI.

2. A member of Ul'dah, certainly. I was a loyal citizen of Bastok, and this city-state seems to most closely replicate the industrial and democratic feel of the old blue banner, although the lack of a nearby ocean will be a tiny bit distressing.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

Race/Clan: Hyur/Mid-lander
Nation-State: Limsa Lominsa
Reason: I never was much of a role-player at all. I could never develop a "personality" while playing, so I'm choosing a race that most represents and looks like me. If it's anything like the original "Hume" race from FFXIV, stat-wise, then I will be more then satisfied. I always aim for a "Jack-of-all trades" character since I like being versatile. My main goal, at least for a while, will be gil making, so Limsa Lominsa seems like the best place to start off in.

"What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?"

Race: Hyur

Class: Archer

Nation-state: Ul'Dah

Why?: I was a big fan of Ranger in Final Fantasy XI, so I feel like I will enjoy the Archer class, for that nation however, It is rather exciting having a city that is, Being an entertainment hub for all of the cities, and let alone, The story of the city is what attracted me to choose it, To have a Puppet Sultan that is only a figure head to the masses, and the true government type is a Oligarchy. So this can give Ul'Dah vast ways to create an interesting story of this Nation-state, and that is why I picked this nation-state.

Well, the questions are quite difficult to answer since I can't seem to make up my mind. But the choice "du jour" is Male Midland Hyur, Thaumaturge/Alchemist/Botanist out of Gridania. The only certainty is Male Hyur, but everything else could chang tomorrow...lol.

Will likely be starting as a hyuran in Limsa, beginning as a Pugilist before moving on to Gladiator. I love the wealth of personality of a lot of the NPCs around Limsa (the localization team has done a great job from what I've seen), and Pugilist's Second Wind is just way too useful to not have early on as any job, really.

Some variant on my username as a Hyur Gladiator because I was Elvaan in XI and I think the former will be more balanced. I will start in Limsa Lominsa for the fishing. I was from Sandy in XI so I'd like a different vibe this time around.

My first character will be a Female Dunesfolk Lalafell Conjurer, starting in the nation of Gridania. I think it's incredibly romantic to have a nature-based city, like Windurst, and I wish to be a part of this whole. I chose Dunesfolk because I think it'd be really cool to be able to play a newcomer to a great forest nation-state. The feeling of overwhelming "newness" and surprises will be shared by both me and my character, and I feel as if my connection with her will be more lucid in this way.

PS; SO EXCITED

I'm definitely starting as a Elezen since my old FFXI character was Elvaan (yea Valefor!), and Limsa Lominista will be my starting area since it reminds me the most of San d'Oria!

I don't actually know. Never played but it looks really great. I tend to play casters though. Mainly because I like staying back and putting out massive amounts of damage. I hope you don't base giveaways only on who has played FF in the past. I also don't know which nation state... it's all new to me, so I'd like to see what it's about

I would definitely choose a Miqo'te as my first character because their appearance appeals to me the most (it's mostly because of the ears, really). From videos I've seen online, I can also say that I absolutely love the way they move and their emotes are just adorable.

I would have to say that Gridania would be my choice of a starting nation-state because I've always had a love for nature environments in fantasy-themed settings.

City: Gridania

Race: Wildwood Elezen

Disciple: Conjurer

City choice: The description of the forest around Gridania remind me of when I was a young boy. I used to wander the forests of Vermont, dreaming of finding a mythical city hidden in the forest. Seeing gridania being back those memories.

Race choice: in FFXI, my main character is a Elvaan Red Mage so I really want to create a charater that is similar as possible to that.

Disciples Choice: I love being a mage in FFXI so I want to experience it in FFXIV. Conjurer is the closet to what I want at this point. I also would like to do multiple Disciples and try some disciples of the hand.

There are woodworking and leathercraft available.

An adorable Miquo'te named Zeri Leandra. The choice between Seeker of the Sun or Keeper of the Moon is such a difficult one! Sun naps are wonderful. But so is hunting by the light of the moon. How to choose?!

She will be a Conjurer, calling upon the elemental forces to aid and comfort her allies. Gridania sounds like the perfect home, full of lush beautiful forests, close to the elementals for her magic.

In her spare time she'll study botany, learning all about the wonderful plant life in the forest around her. And for those that are edible, finding new and delicious ways to prepare them. Yum!

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?
:O This looks like three questions, actually.

Roegadyn; Hellsguard Clan: Ul'dah Citizen.

It was a long, arduous path in Vana'diel, but I eked out my four years of play as a Galka, main jobbing Black Mage and Dark Knight. I'd like to give Thaumaturge and Marauder my primary attention, with Blacksmith and Weaver also gaining a fair share of my attention. As for Ul'dah, the Tarutaru were my favorite race in XI and though I'm no Tarutaru myself, they were my favorites. The cute lil' paragon of black mage excellence, they were what my hulking galka frame wanted to 'grow up to be'. I'm equally attracted to their Eorzean cousins, finding the Dunesfolk Lalafell to be my spiritual brothers and sisters. As they hail from the south seas, and the Dunesfolk take their name from the surrounding area of Ul'dah, I think that would be an ideal way to start my life as an adventurer of Eorzea.

Plus, the attraction to the warm light of the wealth and power of Ul'dah doesn't hurt any. ;D

Race: Roegadyn(Sea Wolf)

Class: Pugilist

Starting City: Limsa Lominsa

I have always been kind of willed to races that can reflect myself, which generally include the larger races. Roegadyn attracted me because of its sort of galka-like looks. Lymsa Lominsa looks to be a hub of trade and a den for... less than legal trade. Life on the seas sounds exciting and why not begin where it is most known to be?

I plan to play as a Midlander Hyur. I know this is a fantasy game but I feel more drawn in and have more fun when I play the Human type characters. (I'm glad I don't have to pick a class to play because I really want to try them all!)

I'll end up starting in Ul'dah. I loved the desert landscapes in other FF games, and I'm curious about how the opening of this city will go.

My first character will be a Elezen Thaumaturge who will start in Gridania.

Why?
Being somewhat drawn to magic based classes in other MMOs a Thaumaturge seemed like a wise choice. The reason I chose Gridania is because of its location in the eastern wooded region of Aldenard. From what I've seen in just the concept shots, it looks beautiful.

My first character

Class : Conjurer

Race : Lalafell

Starting City: Limsa Lominsa

My race was chosen because I have hopes of capturing that bond that I had with my FFXI character. Just looking at a lalafell gives me a sense of that same feeling. Conjurer will be the class because I'm a magic type of guy and it looks like a very versatile class. Also I played as a blm in FFXI, and it will be fun playing with nukes again. Limsa Lominsa is the city because its a beautiful city. Also its surrounded by grassy areas which makes the city look even more wonderful. I look forward to talking to each and every npc that lives in Limsa Lominsa as well.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

My first character in Eorzea will be Lalafell male and start in the nation of Gridania. In Final Fantasy 11 I play Tarutaru and Lalafell stand's out to me, I can see that the artist's really did a outstanding job in renewing the look of this race. With Plainsfolk and Dunesfolk add's even more diversity to the race. Looking like I will chose Conjurer as my class that I will start out with because I alway's enjoy final fantasy mage roles in the series. Im also extremely looking forward to the creation of my Lalafell in making it look unique to the world of Eorzea.

With that in the world of Eorzea you have to pick place to live and thrive and the three nation's all stand out with beautiful texture's and scenic view's that I will enjoy. But if I have to chose between the three, Gridania has to be my choice to start my adventure in. To me living within the forest and nature scream's mystery and magic making the people who live there more attunded to nature and the power's that come with it.

My first character will be Miqo’te conjurer and the nation-state I would start in would be the forest nation of Gridania. The Miqo'te is to me the greatest looking female character! I have a Mithra on FFXI and I Love it. The job I feel fits me the best has always been a healer class. As for the nation I think would be the best for me is the forest nation of Gridania the grass and tree areas are the best to play in for me.

the nation i will start in will be Ul'dah because it looks like a vast, great and majestic land, it seems very enjoyable. Another aspect that caught my attention, was the nation's emblem. They picked a symbol of balance, the libra.

My first character in Eorzea will be a male Hyur midlander, because I want to be able to relate to my character, both mentally, and physiclly. It is the easiest to identify yourself with someone of almost the same species. He will be a Gladiator, as I tend to love to swing little plastic swords as a child, and that tended to stick with me.

I will start in Limsa Lominsa. Because I love the ocean, and the water effects in this game are amazing. It also happens to have, in my opinion, fancier, and more sophisticated architecture then the other cities. So, in other words, it makes you feel powerful.

I'll be playing as a Midland Hyur Archer. As for which nation-state I will be starting in, Gridania.

Why?
I'll be playing as a Midland Hyur because in most of the MMO's I've played, I've always chosen the race that resembles a human. As for class, I've taken much love to ranged classes, so the Archer fits that perfectly. Finally, I've chosen Gridania as my starting nation-state because the art of Gridania looks amazing.

My first character will be a Male Elezen Archer starting in Ul'Dah.

I'll choose Elzen as my race simply because they're the most attractive race. A shallow reason, for sure, but good as any! I'll choose an Archer because I'm fond of doing damage from a distance yet want to shy away from magical classes because they feel to frail, typically. I'm hopeing an Archer won't be!

I want to start in Ul'Dah because it seems like the largest of the cities, and the architecture is amazing. Hopefully it won't disappoint as a center of activity!
