Class: Thaumaturge
CIty: Limsa Lominsa
Race: Miqo'te

Why: Played FF 11 for years. Really looking forward to this game. Had a LV 70 RED Mage in the previous one and want to be the first Thaumaturge to level cap.

I will be making a male Elezen Archer starting in Gridania because archer seems to play alot like ranger from 11 and Gridania has a darker wooded feel to it.

My first character will be a Hyur Archer

What nation-state will you start in?
Ul'dah

Why?
Hoping it recreates the feeling I had when starting out in FFXI in Bastok

I'll be playing Dunesfolk Lalafell Thaumaturge in Gridania because I love being able to support my friends while being able to deal some decent damage. I choose Gridania because I am a nature-loving person and i love the dense woodlands and coursing river surrounding the nation.

Elezen Archer from Limsa Lomisa.

I never got into any of the melee jobs (or archer) in FFXI and always kind of regretted it.

Miqo'te
Ul'dah or Gridania

Mithra was always my favorite race and nothing has changed. I love the culture and temperaments of the Mithra and now with two separate groups of Miqo'te we'll have more diversity and more interesting avatars flooding the servers.

Gridania is reminiscent of Windurst, which was, and forever will be, my home nation. However, Gridania's bustling commerce, desert backdrop and featured arena, it's definitely going to be one of the more exciting city-states. So... I'm torn. Ultimately it depends on which city has easier and faster access to all the important nodes but... yeah.

Totally stoked about FFXIV!

Character: Roegadyn Gladiator / Blacksmith / Armorer

Nation-state: Gridania

Why?: As a veteran FFXI player, I enjoyed every aspect of the game. Square Enix truly graps the concept of an "epic" adventure, unlike other MMORPG developers. Now the reasoning's why I chose a Hyur Gladiator is mainly because of some of the screen shots I've seen of high level Gladiator's and it just blew me away. I've always wanted to play a more crucial role in a group, rather than the generic damage dealer class; not to mention, finding groups will be a lot easier.

When I do make my Gladiator, I will be making a Roegadyn. Mainly because when I think of a Gladiator, I think of a brute, who thinks of nothing but his sword and shield. Roegadyn's seems to be the only choice when fulfilling the role of a 'tank'.

For my nation-state, I chose Grindania mainly because of lush concept art depicted in the FFXIV's website. The concept art of Grindania instantly caught my attention over the other Nation-states.

Thank you ZAM for giving people an opportunity to beta test. I will be checking my email on an hourly basis!!!

Well I would play an Elezen cause i liked that last time, and as for discipline, id try them all, but i think some crafting to start as a carpenter, As for the starting city i would choose Gridania because i like the name, no other reason at all :)

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? I will choose to roll with the Roegadyn race with a Marauder class and I will reside in the Ul'Dah nation state.

Why? Becuase I feel this character will have a bold and outstanding effect and stand out from other races and characters in the world of Eorzea. The reason I chose nation-state Ul'Dah is because, I find the concept art to be intriguingl, optimistic and vibrant. I have played FFXI and loved every aspect of the game. I am very excited to see what Square Enix has done to enhance the Final Fantasy franchise. Thank you ZAM for allowing us to get an early opportunity to test and play FFXIV.

My first character will be a Highland Hyur Lancer. I will be starting in Gridania.

A Hyur looks like a race that I could connect to the most. I typically go for the 2 handed weapon using classes that feels like a knight. The Lancer seems to fit the bill the best.

I think I'll pick Gridania as my starting nation because it seems to be set the most in land and withing a forested part of the world, which is almost always the best setting!

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? My first character will be a Midland Hyur and he will be a blacksmith. As for nation-state, Limsa Lominsa.

Why? The choice to become a blacksmith was primarily out of my curiosity. For many MMORPGs, I considered this class as just a skill. To entirely devote myself as a blacksmith, as a my primary class, is very interesting to me. Finally, Limsa Lominsa's concept art is appeals to me the most. The cities design and aesthetics is just beautiful and I am excited to have the chance to explore it.

I'm going with a Falafel (thats how I'm going to pronounce the Lalafell class) Conjurer because I believe magic power is inversely proportional to body mass. This is why 40lb kids try to be invisible or levitate but not adults, and they look like they weight about as much as children, so we'll just roll with that. Have you ever seen a 400lb wizard? Merlin's got like a 26" waist! Chris angel doesn't shop at the fat people stores. I was a 75 BLM/RDM/WHM so I gotta kick it old school and stay true to my roots.

I'm going with Limsa Lominsa because it looks like Alexander from FF9 might pop out at any time, and he's pretty much my favorite Ediolon (Napolean Dynamite voice).

I will be a Plainsfolk Lalafell Alchemist from Limsa Lominsa at launch.

I'm choosing Limsa Lominsa because I like the concept of an ocean city more than a desert city or forest city.

I'm choosing a Disciple of the Hand because crafters seem to be full fledged classes in FFXIV and I'm very excited because of it. I'm picking Alchemist specifically because I enjoy making consumable items; I prefer selling lots of lower priced items than a few big money items.

Character: Hellsguard Roegadyn

Classes: Marauder, Blacksmithing, Goldsmithing, Miner

Nation-state: Gridania

Why: Because I never got the chance to play a Galka fully to 75 in FFXI, nor a melee class. I was always pigeon-holed on my Taru as any one of the mage classes for events. I also enjoyed the preview that we've gotten so far of Gridania, feels a lot like someplace I could call 'home' in FFXIV. In addition, my LS for FFXIV will be starting off in that city, so it'd be nice to spend more time with friends and LS mates!

My first character will be "Lyn". (since that was the character name I used in FFXI =D) And the nation-state I will be starting in will be Gridania (simply because I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, and Gridania reminds me of the forests of Endor)

I'll be making an Elezen Pugilist in Ul'dah.

They why is I was Elvaan in FFXI and Pugilist is the job that jumped out at me. I picked Ul'dah because who doesn't like gambling halls and arenas.

I plan on being a Sun seeker Miqo'te, and a miner/goldsmith, to fund my Archer :) I am really curious about Ul'dah, so that will be my starting city.

Why?

I absolutely loved FFXI, but it had a few glaring issues that FFXIV seems to have fixed nicely. I've tried other MMOs, but they never had the same feel and sense of community that I found in FFXI. I haven't been interested in an MMO in a LONG time, but 14 has me so pumped that I went out and purchased a new computer! I also have surgery coming up and will be unable to work for the next few months, and I would love to take part in, and help test in the Beta. Goodluck everyone!

I will most likely play a Midland Hyur Carpenter as my first character.
As for the starting area, probably Limsa Lominsa.
The idea of playing a woodworker in a port city of shipbuilders and seafarers is very appealing to me. Also, the city reminds me a little of Everquest's Freeport, which is where my very first MMO character began.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why? I plan on making an Elezen Lancer or Pugilist for my first character. The starting nation-state will be Gridania. I like the look of the Elezen and greatly enjoyed the Elvaan race in FFXI. I chose Gridania because it looks so peaceful and serene, a very cool starting city. I chose the Lancer or Pugilist class because I'd like to start off as a melee DD and move on from there. Thanks for your consideration!

Character: Dunesfolk Lalafell
Classes: Marauder, Goldsmith, Mining
Nation-state: Ul'Dah

I find the idea of using an intimidating class such as Marauder and having the smallest race use it amusing. I have done this in Final Fantasy XI as well, using a Tarutaru Dark Knight as my main class. This class also seems the most durable in combat compared to Lancer and Pugilist, so it'll be a force to be reckoned with in both solo and party oriented play.

The side classes I chose, miner and goldsmith, are classes I feel will provide the most benefit by making accessories for my class and should be profitable. I would like to note that I take my crafting related classes seriously and wish to see the extent of it within the beta.

I chose Ul'Dah as my starting nation due to its mineral resources and location. The resources will help my goldsmith route and due to its appeal to armorers as well, finding equipment for Marauder should not be an issue. The nation is located in the desert, which I believe will be a turn-off to other players. For this reason, I find it'll be a lower populated area and will make the beta testing within such a zone favorable.

I will be a Miqo'te Conjuror residing in Gridania. Why? The city of Gridania is one of harmony and mysticsm. This fits right in with the tribal nature of the Miqo'te. I also just love forest settings and love to explore them, looking at all the scenery.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I will be making a Miqo'te. I originally played a Mithra in FFXI because I thought they were adorably ferocious and the tail swaying entertained me while waiting for a group, but I switched to a male Hume after people kept trying to molest me. I was a cute, innocent little 15-year-old girl so it was pretty tragic. I figure now that most people assume cat girls are played by guys, and that I'm scarier than any guy out there in my old age, so it's a safe race to play again. As for job/class, I'll probably do a bit of everything since I like every role but tank is definitely my favorite so I may start out with Gladiator. I'm still undecided about Seekers of the Moon and Keepers of the Sun, so that would come down to what they look like during character creation.

As for nation-state, I'd choose Ul'dah since it seems like a bustling metropolis with plenty of violence. Something about the beautiful cityscape mixed with a fighting arena just sounds like home to me.

My first character will be a Hyur Blacksmith. I played a Hume in FFXI and was a Blacksmith there, and I like the idea of raising my character as a crafter rather than an adventurer.

I will choose to begin in Limsa Lomisa because as the game comes closer to launch that is the city they have given the most info about. Many players will choose the city because there is more information, and my Blacksmith's armor and weapons will have more buyers as a result of the city being more populous than others.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

Elezen Lancer in Ul'dah. I want to play a melee damage dealer and lancer seems to appeal to me more than Marauder or Pugilist. I also find the aggro-management role interesting. Elezen as a change of pace from FFXI because I used to play as a Taru and Hume. Ul'dah seems like an interesting city to start in aesthetically speaking, though I'm judging this off the concept art.

As for why I want to be in the beta; I played in the Warhammer Online and Aion beta so I know a bit about the process. Partly I want to know how well my computer can run the game since it is exactly on the minimum requirements so my feedback would help those also worried about performance. I was also a former FFXI player, and it was my first and favorite MMO. I'd like to help SE with a smooth release for FFXIV.

My first character in Eorzea will be a Duskwight Elezen in Limsa Lominsa, but i'm undecided of what class to pursue. Probably a Marauder or a Lancer, maybe even Gladiator.

My first character in FFXI ever was an Elvaan and I loved to play as a warrior and a paladin and other melee classes. I quit the game and I rejoined as a Taru, and played as a Red Mage. I grew tired of being a mage so I want to be a melee class again so I want to be an Elezen! And Limsa Lominsa looks beautiful which is the main reason I want to go there, it attracts me more than the other cities.

My first character will be a primarily magic using Miqo'te sun seeker, because I love being a cat in a hat and I like the /thinking emote.

I will be choosing Gridania as my starting nation because in FFXI I started in the industrialized Bastok. Even though I later changed to the other nations for the storylines, I always thought of Bastok as my home. This time I want to anchor my character somewhere more wild and green.
