What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? I want to make a male Hyur packing a two handed sword FF7 style in Limsa Lominsa Why? The character creation is so good, I can actually put myself into the game. Limsa Loninsa looks amazing, a town on the ocean, a vision that looks like heaven.

I'll be playing as a Midland Hyur Pugilist in Limsa Lominsa.

As of right now Pugilist appears to be the closest thing to a Rogue in FFXIV, which is my usual starting class for most MMO's. So I'm going to go in that direction and see how it works out.

I will be playing a Moon Keeper Miqo’te without a doubt. I played a roguish Mithra for many wonderful years in FFXI and will continue on with that tradition in FFXIV. As Windurst was my first home, I have many fond memories of that place and its numerous ankle bite... Tarutaru's >.> <.< I can think of no better place to start off then in the forest nation of Gridania. (Hopefully the Lalafell will at least come up to my knees.) But I promise to visit the other cities at least once. Maybe...

I am going to play as a duskwight in the city of Gridania. The city is in a forest so odds are there are a lot of animals/beasts to hunt as well as hidden ruins. My puglist will probably double an an archer of some sort to make a kind of quick dodging martial artist in hunt of good skins and treasure among his own kind.

Unless they release a duskwight capital that is ^_^

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

1. Most likely a Hume - and a lancer, named Serico. It was my FFXI character that I played for years(except I was a nin/war). I've heard the lancer is fun to play.

2. For the nation-state...Probably U'Dah - The city layout and environment interests me the most. I want to check out the arenas.

My first character in Eorzea will be a Marauder.
What nation-state will you start in?
Gridania
Why?
I chose Gridania..because it reminds me of ffxi's Windurst. I loved Windurst and the same love is creeping up for Gridania.

Gladiator because in FFXI I was always the healer and this time I really want to try the other side of the responsibility table with playing Gladiator.

Currently split between Hyur and Miqo'te, but I'd start in Gridania regardless.

Why?

I always liked the open, tranquil zones and this one seems to fit the bill!

Class: Pugilist

Race: Miqo'te, Keeper of the Moon

City: Ul'Dah, aspected to the god, Nald’thal, strikes me as a place of moral and practical duality; a perfect location for an ambitious Miqo'te. Of all the races, the binary between Seeker of the Sun and Keeper of the Moon is by far the most interesting. Ul'Dah is a great theater to let this story unfold.

Why: I have been final fantasy enthusiast since I was a 12 year old playing through final fantasy 4. While I've never really fallen in love with any mmorpg, I've played through a lot of them only to get to the cap and have my attention drawn elsewhere. I think Final Fantasy 14 will be the game to break the pattern. I'm eager to get started exploring the story and the world of a brand I have enjoyed my whole life. I would be excited to join the beta process and help square/enix make the best game possible for the people like me who are looking for an mmorpg to call home.

My first character will be a sea wolf Roegadyn. I played a manthra in 11 and want to try something different for 14. I also remember that most of the Galkas in 11 were some of the nicest people to party with (especially galka mages, total bros) and I want to live up to that example.

I would like to start in Gridania since it looks like a blend of Windurst (my starting city in 11) and Sanctuary of Zi'tah(my favorite zone in 11).

For my first character I will make a Duskwight Elezen Pugilist, and for his nation-state I will pick Limsa Lominsa. My first character on Final Fantasy XI was a Elvaan Monk and I would like this character to follow in his footsteps. I choose Limsa Lominsa as his nation state because I love the idea of a port city designed as such.

I will be a male Elezen this time around because I find their facial expression apathetic yet exotic in structure. I wish to be part of Ul'Dah because the pioneering nature of the nation-state appeals to me: a city erected from the desert, living on natural resources' opulence.

My First character will be a Miqo'te from Seekers of the Sun clan and she will start in Gridania. In FFXI my favorite race was a mithra and Gridania reminds me so much of Windhurst it also feels right for a cat like race to start in a woodland area to work on thier agility.

My first Character will be "Pirate" themed.

A Miqo'te Marauder based out of Limsa Lominsa.

This is because I am going to have a Pirate and Ninja themed Linkshell called West Coast Raiders (already have the website themed and up, at least the Pirate part).

As to why Miqo'te, I think the contradiction between beauty and strength helps keep my character understated, which can be an advantage in a fight. As well as if I need to spend 20 hours a week looking at the back of a character, better it be Miqo'te then say Roegadyn (they are like a brick wall, can't see anything!).

And as for Limsa Lominsa simply because it is really the only option for a starting city for a pirate (ocean as opposed to forrest or desert).

Right now I am leaning towards a Lalafell Conjurer starting in Gridania. I am planning on playing a healer and focusing on defensive magic and healing. I am choosing to create a healer because I believe that a solid healer is the foundation of a strong group and seeing that I have tons of experience playing healer classes it seems like a natural fit. I chose Gridania because it seems like it will have the most vivid scenery and the conjurers area is located there.

Probably a Hyur or Miquo'te. Just depends on which I find the most compelling after customizing for an hour or so! I'll most likely choose Limsa Lominsa. I may also go with Gridania, I haven't made up my mind yet. I don't think I'll be going to Ul'dah though.

My first character will be a Midlander Hyur Gladiator, and I will be starting in Ul'dah. A Midlander Hyur Gladiator starting in Ul'dah is the equivalent of how I started in FFXI, when I was a Hume Warrior from Bastok.

I can't wait to start the same way I did, all those years ago, all over again in an exciting new world.

Character: My first character will be a miqo'te marauder because I have always enjoyed melee style tactics.

Nation-state: The nation to which I will be starting in is Ul'dah because it holds the characteristics of a true fantasy-scape. Plus it is a traders paradise. :)

My first character will definitely be a Wildwood Elezen starting off in the nation-state of Gridania.
I like the idea of a having a characters personality grow up in a background in the rustic or wilderness. Growing up, getting away from where it all began to explore the weird world outside my own.
A Elezen from Gridania compliments this idea very nicely. Also the Wildwood Elezen is a a great compliment to the Gridania background. The Nation-state of Gridania will also provide a excellent background to start up my next adventure in the Final Fantasy world.

My first character would have to be a Dunefolk Lalafell becuase I use to be a 75 BLM taru-taru in FFXI and I have grown to love playing as a smaller character that can pack a punch.
My first nation-state would be Gridania for the fact that it would match with my character and make me feel more into the game.

I am going to be Miqo'te for sure just because I am Mithra now. I will probably choose keepers of the moon clan though may go with sun clan just because i find the eyes, especially heterochromia, interesting.

Gridania is my first choice just because I like the look of the forest city though I am not against Ul'Dah either.

I will be playing a Wildwood Elezen Conjurer starting out in Gridania.

Why?

I picked Conjurer because I enjoy being able to help wherever needed. Be it casting damaging Fire or Ice spells, or throwing out heals.

I will be heading to Gridania first as it made the most since, as a Wildwood Elezen, to start with the nation-state that is in the forest.

I played as a Mithra in FFXI so I'd like to play as something similar in FFXIV. I guess I just like the cat ears and tail. While I like the look of Gridania, I'd have to go with Limsa Lominsa since in FFXI I did a LOT of fishing and it looks like the fishing guild is in Limsa Lominsa.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I'm a meta gamer. I don't just look at in game statistics to figure out how good my character is. I try to use every advantage I can get. I have personally found 3 things to be common in games that instills fear in the player itself. Size, Speed and the inability to take action. Here, let me explain.

The first fear is size. Being bigger often translates to being stronger while being smaller means, well, pathetic. A mosquito has a higher chance to kill me in every day life, but I am far more terrified of a Grizzly Bear. For this reason, I have chose to be a Roegadyn.

A second fear inducing trait is speed. Not in the sense of being fleet footed, but rather attacking with rapid succession. A single powerful blow can be devastating, but easily dodged. Rapid attacks whittle away at someones health and moral. The fear instilled here is being overwhelmed. Flooding the senses with many inputs can slow someone down and render them weak. Having a strong attack in a whirlwind of blades is hard to detect, and even then, harder to stop. The class for this would be the Pugilist.

The final but vital fear is being out of control. Similar to a steering wheel detaching from a car or being in a Toyota (haha). This is done in games through the uses of stuns. I've played games for a long time and today, still, the thing that annoys me the the most in games is being stunned. I don't care if I die, I just want my death to be my own fault because I could of done something different. Stunning can stop a person from having any input in the way they are played, and makes them feel helpless. This fear can also be instilled by being unable to do any damage. By dodging attacks this annoys people greatly. The Pugilist also excels in this area.

And being ruthless is the best way to excel in any area. Greed is not a bad trait to own in a world where you get trampled by being the nice guy. This is why I want to be a part of Ul'dah.

But enough about being elitist.
In this game, I would choose to be a Roegadyn Marauder from Ul'dah because he is big and doesn't take crap from anyone.

My name? Mipit. Some people think I am harmless, but they got taught that lesson pretty quickly. My name is short (but not so sweet) and memorable, and is also quite unique. I chose this name 7 years ago from the top of my head, and I have been using it ever since. It is rarely ever used by anyone but me, (Example: Google results for that name mostly link to my aliases.) and I like having a name without any numbers or useless extensions.

And a link to an awesome picture!

When I begin playing FF XIV, I plan on starting my character as a male Elezen from Gridania. As stereotypical as this might sound(An elf from a forest city is about as commonplace as it gets), that is the role that I have played time and time again throughout my gaming years. The lore of that character archetype remains consistent throughout almost every MMO, and because of that, I am allowed to play a character that I enjoy rather than a class that I enjoy. Rather than starting as a new character, devoid of any knowledge of their backgrounds, I can come into the game preequipped with knowledge of the journey that I am about to begin.

Of course, my reasoning behind such a character is not all because I prefer to start with some knowledge - it is also partially because the archetype suits the type of character that I love to play. In almost all games, whether they be a MMO or a RPG from 10 years ago, I have played an archer class. The woodland elf suits this rather well, if one were to think about it. A person that has grown up in the woods is bound to be both lithe and stealthy, which are both traits that lend themselves well to an archer.

This character is also slightly reminiscent of myself, in a way. I, too, have a love of the woods, and also of archery. While I may not be the expert that my character is, I at least have some connection to the avatar that I am about to take control of.

Becoming a Gridanian Elezen isn't something that I choose to do on a whim. I have three concrete reasons for doing so, and because of those, I'm going to enjoy every minute I play this game.
