Pikko,

Thanks for getting potential Beta testers another shot of entering the Beta. Hopefully, we can get some quality testers in this round!

To answer your questions -

My first character will be a male Elezen, and would start in Gridania. I chose an Elezen because it has more ties to being fantasy like than say, being a Hyur. I chose Gridania because of the lush, dense wooded nature really has a sense of belonging. The combination together has me eager to start the journey on my travels!

Thanks,
Knoc

Starting in a port city is great. Lalafell is cutest race but the most dangerous!

I'm sure my first character will be a Hyur or Elezen Conjurer of Gridania! I want a race that is well-rounded. I enjoy playing solo often so I'd like to be able to switch to different classes and not feel gimped. If there are no racial adjustments, I'd likely go Elezen (since they look badass!) I've always enjoyed playing the caster/healer role in other MMOs so I think Conjurer is a good match for me. (Every party needs a good healer!) I've never played FFXI, so I'm doubly excited for FFXIV as I have no idea what to expect! Can't wait!

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I plan on being a Midland Hyur starting out as a Lancer (but I imagine quickly going in a few directions) and hailing from the nation state of Limsa Lominsa.

As for why. I want to start as a Hyur because my character backstory's in MMOs always revolve around being a member of the majority race. Seems odd I know but I like being part of the core crowd and allowing my deeds to separate me from my kin.

Why Lancer? In FFXI I loved Dragoon and my favorite Final Fantasy is FF2 / FFIV. Kain's dark story was such a big part of what pulled me in to the RPG genre I've always wanted to replicate his style, etc in my play.

And finally why Limsa Lominsa? I've had a tough time coming up with a city to select. So I'm going with more practical reasons here. Limsa is the city folks will know from beta and usually the city or regions that are focused on in beta become more popular in release. So I'm counting on the city becoming the commercial hub of the game and being able to find my riches in the city

Thanks for the great contest!

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why? (isn't this three questions?)

Ok then... to answer these three questions:

-I'll be playing a Dunesfolk Lalafell... as a Conjurer (with a little bit of Thaumaturging). I'll be starting in Ul'dah, naturally.

-Let's see, I've played FFXI off an on for about 2 years, I've participated in about 6 or so other MMO Betas, and I have more time than most to play. I'm very opinionated, and I'm very well aware of how annoying bugs are in a game upon release... it only takes a minute to submit a proper bug report. The hardest part is remembering all that I've already /bugged.

I'll be playing a Roegadyn Conjurer, primarily because I'm interested in the road less taken, and hopefully I'll discover some bugs to report as contribution as well. For the same reasons, My starting city will be Ul'dah.

Admittedly, the desire to start the game early is also a major factor, but not just for the feel. I’m interested in establishing the United Guilds of Eorzea, where player communication from different linkshells are facilitated for aid and resources, especially since resources gathering and crafting are entire classes by themselves. I’d love to do more research in the beta and make plans ahead. Familiarizing with the basic concepts in beta will help me get ahead so I have more space and time to organize and realize these ideas.

I sincerely hope I get into the beta, I have high hopes for SE’s next MMO, and have been reading FFXIV news on a daily basis since months ago when the beta kicked started. Even if the game lets me down during its official release, no, especially if it lets me down, I want to be part of the solution instead of the problem. I truly appreciate the Final Fantasy series and have been looking forward to this for the past 1.5 years ever since it was announced.

I will be a Miquo’te (haven’t chosen a clan) conjurer from Ul’dah with whatever abilities from other classes that bring me closer to being a BRD. I want to play the kind hearted healer type character in a city chaotic and full of sin.

Thank you, and good luck to everyone who applies.

Hyur Highlander Marauder in Gridania

I prefer damage dealing type jobs and Marauder reminds me of WAR with a G.axe which I loved but never got to use much. The Hyur Highlanders have a good look to them. Theyre human but they dont look like pretty boys.
I love the foresty look of Gridania. It reminds me of Windurst in FFXI, which was my favorite city.

What will your first character in Eorzea be?
Elezen Wildwood Conjurer.

What nation-state will you start in?
Gridania.

Why?
I decided to play an Elezen in Final Fantasy XIV for nostalgic purposes as my character in Final Fantasy XI was an Elvaan. My reason for Conjurer is because I've always loved support classes in games, the idea of helping others has always appealed to me. I selected Gridania as my hometown because it has a certain down to earth serenity about it which reminds me of Windurst.

My first character will be Miqo'te and choose Miner as my job. Why? Miqo'teis just too cute.. For the job, I really like mining back in 11. I am glad SE made it a real job, so i will level it!

I will start in UL'DaH. Why? As a Miner, I guess it is the right choice while it seems to have the richest mineral resources! $ here I come :)

and yes, I just create the account for code.. ;)

Ok here goes ... First character:

Class : Gladiator

Race : Hyur Highlander Male

Starting City: Ul'Dah

I played a Mage exclusively in FFXI, so this time around it's time to get down and dirty. I love the look of the Highlander and should make a nice Gladiator. Ul'Dah appeals to me because it looks sweet and I love trading. Thank you for this opportunity. :)

My first Character in the beta will be a Wildwood Elezen Archer hailing from Gridania. I played a Hume in FFXI and always regretting not making an Elvaan. I typically always go for ranger type classes and Wildwood Elezen are supposed to have very keen eyes that help with that. I would pick Gridania as my starting nation because I really like the idea of a city that co-habitates with nature and I typically think city that use that kind of idea look great.

I played a taru in FFXI for almost 5 years and loved every second. Thief would have been my first choice for starting class given the option, but all of the pugilist descriptions I've read made it sound like a fun class to play! Ul'dah sounds like a great starting spot because I know so little about it and I love to explore new cities.

First off, don't throw my name in the drawing <wink> <wink>.

I will play an archer from Gridania. I choose Gridania because the carpentry and leatherworking guilds will compliment an archer. I was thinking Hyur but will most likely pick a Wildwood Elezen since it fits better.

First Character: Miqo'te Conjurer - I'm vain and I think the Miqo'te is the most visually appealing race. Conjurer because I must have the ability to heal.

First Nation-State: Ul'dah - I find it reminiscent of the Arabian Nights, one of my favorite childhood books.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

My first character will be a Miqo'te Pugilist. I'm a roleplayer, and the Seekers of the Sun just fit a character idea I have too well to pass up! The Pugilist seem like an interesting class, and it will be fun to try fistfighting, it's not something you see in many games.
While all the races are very fascinating to me, the Miqo'te seem to have a mix of cuteness and predator-look that I like. She's not going to be a "cute kitten", she's going to be a tiger!
I'll be starting in Limsa Lominsa, because the Musketeers Guild sounds pretty awesome, and I love the idea of a big harbor city. And the pirates of course ;)

Besides how obviously awesome Lalafell are, I played a taru in FFXI and could never change =). Gridania has amazingly beautiful concept art and seems to be the closest to Windurst.

Miqo'te Keeper of the Moon Thaumaturge

Thaumaturge because I always play mage type classes in MMO's and it looks somewhat like a blood mage and I haven't ever played something like that before. I will start in Gridania because it reminds me of Windurst from FFXI.

My first character will probably be a duskwight elezen conjurer/marauder starting off in Ul'Dah. Why? Mostly for aesthetics really, and the class is really undecided...every MMO I always wind up playing a melee class, really want to try to start off with a casting class and and see where that takes me.

The reason why I'm picking limsa Lominsa is because my love of the ocean, thought I'm not a fisherman myself, looking at the blue ocean and sky makes me feel relaxed and I seem to forget all the stress I have in real life. I'm also happy to try a craft that was technically not in FFXI -> Armorer. Since they were part of the Blacksmith craft in FFXI, and they have their own guild this time around, it could be fun to start hammer the metals while i'm looking at the beautiful harbors of Limsa Lominsa.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

My first character will be a Male Hyur Thaumaturge... I loved playing as a White mage and then as a Red mage in FFXI.So, I want to continue now as a desciple of magic.

The nation state that I plan to start in is Gridania. In the map it seems that it will a very tactical spot to start from since it is in the middle of the continent being able to reach other places around the city. Even though Limsa-Lominsa really looks cool to me.

Thanks for the chance

I was a Taru RDM back when I played FFXI, so I was thinking of rolling a mage again in FFXIV. My other favorite job that I leveled as was DRK, so I'm thinking of leveling Thaumaturge because they've inherited the drain and absorb spells. Race wise, I think I've had enough of staring at everyone's shins so I'm probably going to be a Elezen.

My starting city will most likely Ul'Dah. I'm planning to level as a Weaver as well and if I recall correctly, Ul'Dah has both the Thaumaturge and Weaver guilds?

Lalafell Pugilist, I played a taru in XI and even though my "main" was BLM I absolutely loved MNK (I learned too late that if you want to play as a MNK, don't tell people you have the BLM >.>)

I was thinking of starting in Ul'dah, the idea of a desert trading city is interesting to me (was always my favorite type of city in other RPGs too)

My first character is going to be a male Midland Hyur named Axl, I am going to be a gladiator, and I am starting in Ul'Dah. I have always been the human character in an MMO, I am not entirely sure why, but it just appeals to me. I am starting in Ul'Dah because I really like the whole merchant stalls and sand setting, call me a romantic if you want :I... I will start as a gladiator, and eventually transition over to marauder I think, I am not certain, it depends on which class has capabilities to use a greatsword.

I was a TaruTaru in FFXI, so I can't help but want to be a Lalafell in FFXIV. I'm leaning towards going Dunesfolk since they look cooler (a petty reason, I know, but it is a video game XD). I have to be a mage-like class because I always have to be a mage-like class on my first character, but I can't yet decide which of the two I want to be starting off. I know that you can transfer some abilities to other classes after you've learned then (albeit at reduced effectiveness), so I'll probably play a lot of both.

As for the nation-state, I'm heavily leaning towards Ul'Dah because it just looks so grand! Plus the quote for that particular nation-state is from a Lalafel, which is an extra little bonus ^_^

My first character in Eorzea will be my Conjurer/Alchemist Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te from Gridania. My main FFXI character was a Mithra from Windurst and I never enjoyed playing any game more than when I was using her. I have such fond memories of my time in FFXI on that character and I believe that the sense of nostalgia that she brings along with the excitement of the "new" that FFXIV will undoubtedly bring will make for an experience unlike any other before it.

First character will be a Lalafell Gladiator (probably). Starting city is either be Gridania or Ul'dah depending on where my friends really want to start. I am choosing the Lalafell because of the emotes (the panic emote in particular cracks me up) and it amuses me to no end to see a "cute teddy bear" like creature take a beating from a monster (I tend to be a tank in most MMO's I play). Gridania or Ul'dah because that is logically where one of the two clans of the Lalafell would seem to start, and I haven't totally decided which clan I want to play, although I am leaning towards the dunesfolk.

City-State: Ul'dah.
I find the Midlander Hyurs very aesthetically pleasing and very much enjoyed playing a paladin tank in FFXI; as well as a tank-class in other RPGs/MMOs - I love the challenge presented. Also wishing to delve into mining/armoring to try and be semi self-sustaining as well as provide myself and others with materiel, so Ul'Dah seemed the perfect locale to be able to do so, I also love the idea of a desert fortress/oasis as a starting city.
