A one-syllable surname of soft sounds. My immediate thought was "Speeral Liim." This way you have your double vowels duplicated. Liim (lih-eem).

Hm, my linguistics education is seeping through a bit :)

Edit: This is all assuming your character's name is pronounced (spee rahl).

Here is my favourite generator so far. All of the different genres of grouped phonemes will allow you to narrow down on which sounds and feel you want for your name(s) and see some examples.

Here's lookin' at you fiction writers :D

Edit: Here's my new favourite.

rounhouse kick my last name and I'll be the only player
with one name ha ha ha

But I might give it a try.

and yes Allakhazam can make a PVE game into a PVP game only for him

Liim also sounds good.

the pronunciation would be Spee--rahl yes.

Most people in XI just called me spee which was easiest
and I want my name recognizable to my friends from the get go.

even though I am rolling a lalafell this time around
and going mage and support class this time and
not full on melee DD

so I want something magical for the last name, or that has a very
exotic tone to it.

Another thought for name generators that I'm a big fan of...
http://wordsmith.org/anagram/

Could use it alone or before/after some of these other generators, **** use 'em all and see what monstrosity comes out!
I was disappointed to find that an anagram for Twisted Owl(which is a kind of loose play off my real name) is Slow Witted = (

My bad if that 1's been mentioned already...

glad you like. I found it by searching words in an online Latin dictionary... I think Latin can make pretty decent, meaningful last names... and since no one speaks it - it seems pretty free for all because it will seem exotic to pretty much everyone but not just meaningless gibberish

I'm thinking instead of reusing my FFXI name I go with Kelemi Lukela. It's my given name in Hawaiian, works since I'm from Hawaii :D

I have been trying to come up with something for weeks now ever since I realized I was gonna have to come up with a surname, I'm afraid that I will just end up staring at a blank name box on September 22 for a few minutes before I get impatient and just come up with something so that I can get started playing, Hopefully I don't regret it :) .

We have all this time to come up with a name but I have to see what he's going to look like first.

Appearance > then go have a smoke while I ponder a name. It's tradition.

I'm beginning to think that I may just use Eske as my first name again, for continuity's sake. It works very well with my intended class (Lancer) since its a Norse name meaning "Spear of the Gods."

Think I'll tack on another Norse name for the surname as well. I'm liking another vowel sound to start out. Since I want to play a healing Lancer, "Eir" might be good (old norse for "help" or "mercy", also the name of a lesser goddess of healing).

So, "Eske Eir" then. Not bad, I think. Short, sweet, and consistent, with some relevant meaning. Smiley: yippee

I like it Eske.

I dig alliteration, and I think names that actually mean something are more interesting than random generated things (though those can sound pretty) just for me - I would never do that. I like to think about the character. Even though I am not into RP it makes a difference somehow to me.

Thank you! Yeah I'm liking it more and more.

I'm a sucker for word meaning and etymology. For example, did you know that the word "avocado" is derived from a native South American language where it meant "********"?

Smiley: schooled

Fun stuff.

Teehee, that made me giggle.

Since there is a first name and a surname, I have an overwhelming urge to use one of those joke names even though I'd be bound to regret it later, like

Hay Notstraw
Teresa Green
Doug Graves
Jean Poole
April Schauer
Barb Dwyer
Walter Melon
Carrie Dababi
Dan Druff
Duane Pipe
Iona Ford
Walter Melon
X. Benedict
Misty Cupp

You can find other names like that Here

This is why I always resist calling a character Titan even when its availabale :)

I take it first and last names arent unique and only the combined name is?
Is their any sort of right click functionality on names in the chat window for things like tells, or inspects?
Can you even inspect, I forgot if XI had this or not.

Struggling atm like alot of people to come up with a last name im happy with.
Could just go Azimov Azimov, so good they named him twice, or Azimov squared.
Might not be able to have 2 both the same anyway, and I dont actualy like it.

I was stuck for a second name for ages. I was definatley going to be Scotchio "something".

I've settled for Scotchio Guile.

I chose Guile as for one, he was favourite character on Street Fighter II back in the early 90's. (i even had a similar hairstyle at the time).

And "Guile" means: "Treacherous cunning; skillful deceit", "clever or crafty character" and "being skilled in deception".

And as I plan on being a Pugilist, who uses Blindside as an ability (like Sneak Attack from Thief), it kind of fits in.

How do NPCs refer to you, by your full name or just the first?

Realised if its by full name then I could just use name as second name and make the first a title like sir, lord, baron.
