I just purchased FFXI and am downloading it. Hopefully it will give me something to do while waiting for FFXIV.

Well that was annoying. Getting the collection through steam was easy, so was the downloading. The steps you had to go through in POL was just painful. I Worked out how to create an account for POL and get into the home screen, found the play button and launched ffxi.

I couldn't find a way to register for a ffxi account. The menus to go through were horrible, and I couldn't find my war through anything. I decided to give up and just patiently wait for FFXIV. So I completely deleted the POL account removing all information. Or so I think... I will try log into POL tomorrow and make sure all information (such as credit card) is removed.

I'm not technically new. I've been a member here since I got into FFXI 5 years ago under the name "Nichigo". I quit two years into the game and left the forums as well. I recently came back due to the upcoming release of FFXIV and have been perusing the forums for information (which has been VERY helpful).

I would have logged in using my old account, but it's been so long that I dont' remember the password. My email has changed since then too so using the "forgot password" feature won't help any haha.

But anyway...I'll be here for as long as I play FFXIV...just as I was in FFXI. Hope to make a few new friends on here.

I'll probably be back around more once the game launches. I haven't been active on here for a while. I still call it Alla...

So... September is when the forum shenanigans will start!

Don't worry, I still haven't gotten used to saying "Zam" myself. I have probably posted more this past month that the last year and half too.

I'm a semi-new user. I had a login... oh about 6+years ago and posted every once in a while. Later on I unknowingly left my account logged in and my sister came in my room and wrote a bunch of really foul messages on here. At least she thought it was funny.

So I got banned and have just been a forum reader ever since :)

Stupid sister.

I believe his final postings were in the Zam WoW forums, relating to the Real ID affair.

Ohiyo!

First of all i will sure harm your language a lot as i'm from germany and therefore i'll sure make many mistakes, maybe even more than actual words. So please take my apologise in advance.

However, I registered some weeks ago when those beta-thing doesn't even had started and on the other hand, as i'm from EU i'm in no way eligible for some beta-key. Now, i don't even want a beta-key as i've never played FFXI before and so i think it would be sensless if i would take part in some FFXIV-Beta as there are many other (ex FFXI) players who would fill this spot a lot better. On the orther hand i rather log in to the game when all preparations are done and SE decides that they are finished. So i just wait impatiently for the official go-live.

I lurked around the forums for quiet a while and found out that nearly all people around are really friendly and helpful. So, if i am about to play XIV as well, i thought it might be the best to somehow get in touch with the future players. Sadly i'm not that big writer and if i dont know something i rather shut up/doesn't write instead of carving crap into the board. This all ends in having just a few simple posts -.-

Just some background information, just that you know who i am and what my recent experience with other games/mmo's are:

In real-life they call me Dirk (38 yrs) and yepp, i'm male, even if my avatar (which hopefully shows up) and my name are kind of female. This all started a long time ago while playing D&D via Pen&Paper where i found out that playing/being a female character give advantages when talking to "NPCs" as you are able to flirt a lot and can get some discount on goods or some useful hints from other stangers. Since this time Anthania became more and more "real" or shall i better say my "alter ego".

After D&D we changed to role-master (P&P) and tried also a few other weird systems which i cant remember the names as they were kind of crap.

regarding Final Fantasy i've played just the versions from VII to XIII (except XI as mentioned) where i for myself love FFIX more than the others - atm i'm still with XIII but it took me some time to get into it, as i found it a bit different to what i expected. But still it's a great game.

Other games i've played are spread across all kind of systems. From ZX81 to VC20, C64, CPC464, Amiga, PC and so on. Also a lot of consoles crossed my way and apart from Racing Games nearly everything i played were somekind of RPG/Adventure Games. I dont want to bore you all with this as you might stop reading then (if you not already have done so)

Talking about MMOs i've played a few but still haven't found one where i could say THIS is the game i love. I can't even remember all MMOs I've played but some "milestones" are Ultima Online, DAoC, EQ, EQ2, WAR, AoC, Aion, WoW (left after BC), LotRO, DDO, RF-Online, Archlord, PW and ESO. I have to say that from all those above EQ2 was the game i played the most and where i still got my sub running (6 yrs. - man i'm getting old)

As for FFXIV i have faith in it to be the game i'm looking for. From what i have seen (Vids, Posts, Blogs, whatever...) its really promising.

I'm just afraid of one big thing: As nearly everyone (if not all) already played the predecessor (? correct term ?) i'm afraid that i'm about to hear a lot of "Newb" and "L2P" from all around. By judging the community here i dont really think it will happen, but as said it's what i'm really afraid of.

Being a father of 3 little kids in real life (10yrs, 4yrs, 11month - all male chars *hrhr*) and having a lovely wife my playing time is limited and spread around different times what might end in being all alone again inside the game (experienced this on many games) forced to solo my way thru Eorzea which would be only half the fun i guess.

On the other hand, seeing that the server(s) are not separated into NA/EU/Asia my hopes are high to become friend with a lot of ppl from around the world instead of running with "just" the EU guys (which isn't bad at all, dont get me wrong) - Due to different Timezones and the time i can play i'm hoping to find some "Linkshell" (correct? - or do they call them different?) with sympathetic people who care less about level and stuff and are more into having Fun (and maybe RP) - As said before i've got no FFXI experience and sure need a helping hand all the way.

To sum it up: I really hope to see a lot of you in game and so FFXIV will become the ultimate experience.

Until then i wish you all the best!

kind regards
Anthania

I've always known about Zam and used it when I played FFXI. I just never registered but thought if I am going to spend some time in FFXIV I should gear up and register and be a part of the forum. Like some others who posted here, not interested in the beta (If I get a key I would play and test the **** out of it) I am just here to get information such as when I bought my own parts for my computer. Anyways before rambling on too much everyone here has been really helpful.

BTW Wint I love your avatar haha.

I used to browse the site often a few years back for ffxi. Used to always try to plan out how to level up cooking and alchemy, but I always seemed to loose the funds or lost interest halfway through. Also trying to plan out gear for my lowly lvl 43 paladin that I never got around to getting any higher. Until now I never had a reason why to make an account for posting since I don't like posting and I never did find anything interesting to share that people hadn't already found. Heh back then this site was pretty much the only site I went to for information and links for FFXI. I still refer to the site in my head as Alla.

Not all of us low-post-count types created their accounts just for the give away. I've been a long-time anonymous lurker here, dating back to the EQ days. I believe I created my account in 2004 (judging by my sig that I've never updated :) ) and finally became a paid subscriber earlier this year. My first post was in 2006 and my second post was in the give away thread. This is my third post - I guess I'm just not very talkative LOL
