It's the 'Making of a Realm #2' video from Square-Enix.

Basically, showing off some of the monster/wildlife models we'll be encountering on our travels.

I have a feeling that summons (Ifrit, Titan, Leviathan, etc) will not be player controlled; there may be a summoner class later, but I think they may use some of the newer names for the summons, such as Belias or Mateus. The "Traditional" summons look more like important story figures than in-game pets.

Also, INB4 "OMGWTF High Res 3D Scuplting PC Limitations!"

...Yeah, it had to be said.

Lol, yeah I was amused by that too. So many people are complaining about PS3 limitations, and how stiff the requirements are for the game as it is, and yet they had to scale it back from where they started even for the final PC release. XD

So you know... it could always be worse... ;)

Well summons like Titan, Levi, and such. The beast tribes of the game are going to be controlling them(i belive i read that in a interview, just cant seem to find it atm). They mostly end up as boss fights and such. As a summoner class, more then likely either be new summons that MerylStryfe said. I'll see if I can find the interview.

Quote:
Yes I know. Its from dec of last year.
“FFXIV’s main story prologue begins 10 years in the past. Powerful gods, known in Japanese as “Banshin,” have appeared in Eorzea, summoned by people known as “Banzoku,” or “savages,” who used the gods’ power to strike fear in the people. Meanwhile, to the northeast, the militaristic Garlean Empire has been expanding its reach, using its mechanical technology and overwhelming strength of arms in an attempt to rule the continent. In Eorzea, now faced with these two threats, adventurers (that’s you!) have a mysterious power which lets them experience past events. It is believed that this power can change the world.”

Fam: Let's talk about the "primals" the tribes summoned 10 years ago. What happened?

Sat: The only thing known about the events 10 years ago is speculation on the parts of the adventurers. The only thing known for sure is that, about 10 years ago, a decidedly different and decidedly powerful presence arose.

Fam: It's not something I'd really like to think about, but does each tribe control a primal guardian of their own?

Sat: It's safe to say that most tribes probably do. How each primal appears and what each one does is one of the biggest mysteries unraveled during the course of the story, so please look forward to it.

Caption: A powerful god summoned by a beast tribe. Anyone would be intimidated by this overwhelming legendary-beast-like form.

All I can really find for it so far.

the music on this video is frigging epic. The monsters - epic. This game is going to rock. Heck even if there are some tweaks to work out over time - I don't care- I want to explore this world.

These monsters are very impressive. Morbols look absolutely terrifying, and the animations are very realistic. Titan (?) is really cool looking.. looks both intimidating and tough, befitting the avatar of earth. I will definitely be spending time with the making of DVD during install and updates!

That Titan-looking thing is probably similar to the Giant tribe (forgot the name ATM) on Qufim Island.

I was blown away by the 3D clay models though...any chance they will be made into merchandises?
