Was just thinking that it would be really nice if all the npc's in FFXIV adopted a daily/nightly routine like they had in this Zelda game. Or maybe even a weekly one! Would make the towns feel a lot more lively.

Ui? Didn't we have a little of that in FFXI already? The Mithra lighting the lamps in Jeuno, the Guilds closing for certain hours... but yes, expanding on that would add so much flavor to the whole experience.

Like:

You: Cometh forth to face justice, scourge of Eorzea!
Shadowlord: Arghhh... come on boys, it's 4 in the morning...

Yeah there was a little bit of it, but there could be so much more. The crafters could be working outside during the day and hanging out at the pub at night. Maybe stage a weekly bar fight , perhaps with some quests were you can prevent/start it. Events that you could actually see happening instead of "Oh it's xxx o'clock now so the door to the craftersguild is locked.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of having to be at x before y time to get in as it adds potentially annoying restrictions to gameplay (unless SE gives us our own Ocarina of Time), but I am most definitely in favor of having a similar day-and-night cycle apply to cities and NPCs (and perhaps even the overworld -- step out into the wilderness at night and you're greeted by different beasts and encounter different situations). It would certainly add more depth to the experience, which is always a plus, not to mention it would make the game feel infinitely more fresh -- not always seeing the same person, in the same spot, receiving the same dialogue, etc. It would make things much more interesting and varied. As the say, variety is the spice of life!

Now all we have to do is recruit a number of LoZ fans matching the number of characters from Majora's Mask and play out the entire story every day and night ad infinitum. :D I can see it now: We'd get the Roegadyn to play the construction workers, a purple-haired Lalafell to play Anju, an auburn-haired Elezen to play Anju, a skinny Hyur to play the mailman, and a Miqo'te to play the cat dog in South Clock Town! I'm sure they wouldn't mind dedicating their lives to such a worthwhile purpose...right?

You know there was a quest where you could light the lamps yourself, right? The Mithra NPC only did it if no PCs did. I found it to be a quick, inexpensive way to build up some Jeuno fame.

Dynamic NPC's are always a good thing IMO. Anything to help make the world feel more "alive".

Yep, but thanks anyway! I actually quit during a time when the Mithra virtually NEVER walked her way, because Jeuno still was "the" City. Oh, the days...

P.S.: Weekly brawls in Limsa Lominsa's Pubs. What an absolutely awesome idea, hahaha!
