Awesome! Thanks deathly809, this is what i was looking for!

Good people and what not but refused to go to that site after the whole Zyuu debacle and supposedly trying to sell beta keys and Curse not doing anything about it lol.

Anyway, thanks again!

I'd like to add that for people who like emotes, there's around 60 or more emotes so far. The animations are pretty detailed.

A few questions, if you don't mind...
How might you defend yourself as a botanist (against aggro mobs, for instance)?
Tell me about physical level verses class rank.

The game looks great. Your avatar is cute.

Edited, Aug 11th 2010 10:32pm by thefireworksgreen

I havn't leveled botanist in phase 3, but in phase 2 you would catch aggro from roselings and chiglets. Usually if you continue running you will lose aggro and the mob will disengage. At one point I was cranky and threw a stone at a chiglet that smacked me (I was a 14 botanist/17physical i think). . .anyway when the stone hit it turned-tail and left me alone. Not sure if that is the intended use for stone throw but I found it amusing.

My own impressions of the game so far are amazing. In phase three they added some extended customizations to the character creator. As a moon-seeking miqo'te I can change the color of the tip of my tale, as a Hyur Highlander you can add to hairstyle to customize the look and change the color of facial tattoos. I just love this game and enjoy playing it, even with all the little bugs and lag issues due to it being a beta test.

My question is more on the tech side of beta.

1. On the official benchmark, there only two resolutions availiable... Low and high. My monitor is a 22in and I want to play in 1680x1050. Does the game allow multiple resolutions or are the benchmark resolutions our only options?

You can specify many options for video, including resolution. The most recent release has a lot of new things to change, for older video cards you can turn down the texture now. The game runs very smooth on my laptop which didn't get a very good benchmark score.

Yes but you can't alt+tab and there is no full screen windowed mode that I've found yet.

Thanks for the info. I am lucky enough to have two computers so no worries about needing to tab out.

My resolution is 1920 x 1080 and they don't support it. They biggest windowed res is 1700something x whatever, and in fullscreen I get a retarded 1" thick black border around the edge of my screen. In beta 2 at fullscreen it was 1920 x 1080, so SE broke something.

Playing windowed at my monitor's native resolution (1280x1024... yes I has a small screen ;_; ) works as minimizable fullscreen for me.

I'm not sure if anyone else had a problem viewing some of the pictures but I re-uploaded them. Last night they worked fine but today some of the pictures were corrupted. Should be fixed.

Skimming the pictures now, but I have to laugh at picture #20. Seeing something like the item's name call falling through is wicked cool in my book.

Have they stated that the server names will be the same on release? I saw some people mention that for FFXI they did not keep the same server names for release when coming out of beta.

They used enemy names for servers during the original FFXI beta test so I severly doubt these will be the actual server names come release. No one knows right now what they are planning for names. We will probably know when Open Beta hits though.

I hope that they release the names of the servers before release. I want to play on the same server as some friends of mine and I hope to be able to do that.

They don't do any thing currently but S-E has made sinister implications that they will have some effect.

Story line spoiler:

Part of the over all story line dwells on the fact that the protagonist (you) have a powerful being or beings watching over you (this is possibly why Leviathan shows up in the intro). It's possible that your "God" will take a more personal interest and/or make an appearance at some point in time

Can someone (or multiple) who is in the Beta test please request this feature to be present in release. I use windower in ffxi for this very reason. When you have dual monitors, this is a very important feature!

Thanks,

If there is a Sephiroth server I hope they make it so all Sephiroth definitive names are automatically located there so the rest of us can avoid them :)

I read elsewhere mages level slower than melee......any idea about that?

Excellent photos by the way...thanks.

I have to "yes, and...." you.

Not just Sephiroth names, all playable characters and main antagonists from all FF games, excluding FFIV and FFVI, since that shows good taste.

So they basically still have@the sub job system. That's disapointed to here. One thing I disliked about ff xi was leveling a job I didn't to play at all just so I could play the job I really wanted to play.

no one makes you.

I loved BLU, hated NIN - so played BLU/WHM and BLU/THF

you don't have to do anything you don't want to. Yeah some people will grief you but there are plenty of others like me who don't care as long as you aren't subbing something ridiculous

And... I for one, love the amount of customization available. It is way better than sub jobs because I can combine abilities from a ton of classes. WIN.

Here's something that has been driving me nuts. How do you increase the screen size. I'm playing on a 24" monitor and currently stuck on whatever default size they give you. I understand that full screen is disabled, but what I'm currently using is driving me nuts.
