So, the release day is drawing another day closer, and I'm so sure many of you just can't wait for 9/22 to come.

I know some people have taken the day off or the first week of to play.
Since the midnight release probably wont happen, I want to see what time of the day you all will be expecting to get in the game.

I took off 9/23 and 9/24 to play, but im planning to work on 9/22, gonna pick up my game at gamestop before work or during lunch and then drool over it on the subway train, install the game when i get home and go have dinnner while it's being installed/updated.
i think i will be on around 8pm or so if it finishes the update process by then.

How about you?

I'll be going to work on the 22nd and take the rest of the week off, so I guess I'll log in at about 4:30CST.

It really depends on what time they turn the servers on. Hopefully they don't follow the trend with beta, servers on at 7pm Pacific time.

Well, I bought the collectors edition so I'll be on in just over a month! I'm 22 and unemployed, working my **** off trying to find a job before the games release as I can see that causing a few problems...i.e. being 29, over weight, no girl friend, and just generally looking like a peadophile...final fantasy has the potential to ruin my future...

TMI my friend but good luck with the job hunt. I know you aren't the only one unemployed out there.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but this is the first time that I'm taking time off from work just to play a game. So on that note, I'm probably going to start playing as soon as I finishing picking up the game from the local Gamestop.

I'm banking to play it as soon as its installed assuming there aren't any initial server issues the first day. Being a wednesday that its coming out on I do have to work the rest of the week so i'm still unsure if i'll take the rest of that week off or the first few days of next week xD.

I gained 30 lbs in the 2 years I played XI, took me 3 months to lose it once I quit :( Good luck with the job hunt :) I'll probably take the 22nd off so I'll be online as soon as I can load the game.

I'm going to bolt to the bus, grab my copy from GameStop, and run to the gym before class while it patches. After class, it's all FFXIV, so it'll be later in the afternoon. >^.^<

dont worry my friend, stay optismitic and you will find a job very soon.

To the others who feel ashamed from taking time off from work to play a game.
i'm not encouraging you guys to take days off, but imo, i dont think it's a shame, the vacation days were granted for you to take times off to do anything you want, it doesnt matter if you are going on a trip or staying home and roll on your bed. it's your paid vacations, why not enjoy it the way you want?

Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don't. When I got God of war 3, they had that before release day. Since I picked it up soon as they opened. Some other games when I went to pick up didn't get in tell about 11am noon.

That's what I use to think, but after working at several different companies. I found that they tend to dislike employees who take vacation (taking vacation not near typical holiday times) or sickdays. More so towards sickdays. Yes you earn them, but they seem to ping you on your quarterly or yearly performance reviews if you take too many.

I'll be working on the 22nd, so I won't start downloading until 5:00 PST. After that, I'm taking the next two days off.

Chance for a midnight release here is slim to none, so I'll probably be picking it up @ 10AM and rushing home to set it all up. Potentially ******* other drivers off when the light turns green and I don't notice because I'm checking out the instruction manual. I would have zero shame in missing work to play this game, but I'm out of work as well. Kinda bugs me that a single 30 year old may be stereotyped as a pederast though. Single = better, plus I'm an acquired taste...still looking for "the one" who can put up with me, ya know...a nympho who loves final fantasy as much as cleaning & cooking...I don't ask much = P

lol my company is completely the opposite.
i was reminded that i still have lots of vacation days off (i never really use my personal/sick days), i only used 6days so far and there is only 4 and half months to go in the year.
manager doesnt want everyone to take vacation days around the major holidays at the same time.

I'm a grad student, so it's pretty much impossible for me to stop working. :)

While I'll have to be at my desk in the lab during the day (or at classes or teaching), I'll be on in the evening/night, while running jobs on the Mac!

I could see sick days maybe just because no one likes to find out that you're not going to be there on the day of.

Vaction/personal days though? Every place I've worked, if I took off time in September they'd be doing back flips of joy since it meant I'd probably be there during the weeks around Christmas when every one else wanted off.

I work 3rd Shift also so I will probably stay up to pick up the game on the 22nd bring it home install/update and create my character hopefully all before I have to go back to work. I didn't take the 22nd or 23rd off figured there would be some start up issues so I would rather wait a couple days. I did however take the 24th off and the whole following week. I just hope that things are running smooth enough to get alot of play time in during that week off.

Sept. 22nd is my birthday, so someone will likely drag me off somewhere to do something. So, probably late that night. Though I'll be picking up the game as soon as GameStop opens, so if the patch doesn't take too long, I might be on a bit before they come to kidnap me.

My boss just reminded me that I'm maxed out on time and will start losing it in October. Since I have to use about a week before then I set myself up to work 3 day weeks all of September which is freakin sweet since my birthday is the 12th and launch is the 22nd.

Yeah, I don't know where Rubina works (poor dear) but here no one is looked down on for using the time they earned - and only a certain number of people are allowed to be off at any one time so they are more than happy if you don't just book around holidays.

In fact every year since I have been here I volunteer to work over the Christmas season so that people who go visit their families can have the time off. Since none of my family lives here and I don't travel in the winter I don't need that time off.

That said I don't think anyone should take sick days unless they are sick. I don't know any business that likes it when you fake sick...

I'm going to get up on the 22nd, go pick up the game as soon as I can... and start installing. I am guessing I won't be able to pick up till 9 or 10 am PST. I'll be playing as soon as I can after that point.

I'm taking a few days off at that point. I was going to do it later when I assumed things would be more stable but because of our contract I wasn't allowed to take time in October - just in September or in December... so I decided on September.

Im in Australia so we are 11 to 15 hours ahead. Will pick game up at 9am and then I am limited only by the time taken to download latest patches (which I understand could be up to 8 or 9 hours though due to poor download speeds from SE).

I don't know that there will be enough people in my neck of the woods (Layton,UT) for a midnight release, but if there is, i'll be on as soon as the servers are, otherwise, around 10:00 am local time.

Took a couple weeks off work to get frustrated at server issues and meet some new friends online Smiley: grin

if you can, preorder from a local store. I was preordering from amazon but they weren't going to send it to me till way after the release, which is pure stupid.

you should be able to cancel without problem

Yeah....amazon UK don't do guaranteed release day delivery like I believe they do in US.
I still ordered from them and pre ordered through Game, will return the amazon one if Game don't mess up (they had 2 pre ordered FFXI expansions and sold one to someone that hadn't pre ordered......I'm going in a week before to check it's ordered).
Am off the 21st and 22nd, so will be at Game 9 am and home by 10 past.
Gonna be a busy time......Civilization V out on 21st too.
Got 2 weeks off from the 26th.

And yeah......can cancel with no problem with amazon, they don't charge until they dispatch.
