I want to aplogize first if this had already been answered multiple times and I'd appreciate a link in the response then if it can bettter answered elseware.

On that note. I'm basically asking if this game is going to be more like xi in terms of your one character being the do all interchangable being like he was in xi. I'm reading a lot about DoW and DoM. But what if I want to be a crafter as well? Would I be limited to DoH/L if I go that route in the begining and not b able to todo DoW or DoM. I basically want to make that one character much like xi.

Its just like XI. You can switch to any job on a single character by simply switching to an appropriate weapon.

It's not like in FFXI, from what I've read. Your Physical Level doesn't change with your class.

It it is like XI in terms of the question that he asked. He didn't ask about leveling, he asked about whether or not one can play all of the job classes with a single character.

but at any rate, check out this link to answer a lot of the questions you probably have...

well there are similarities and differences to FFXI - but what -is- similar is the ability to play every role/job/discipline on one character - so to answer the OP's question - you can do all disciplines on one character

As of right now, there is no benefit to picking a certain class. Seems that all starting weapons are available for purchase.

Also I haven't really heard anything on skill caps. I doubt you'll be able to max out all crafts. Although that was a grip I had with xi. Anybody hear anything regarding that?

I'm keeping a list of where each weapon can be bought in Limsa Lominsa if anyone's interested. They are inexpensive; you should be able to afford most (if not all) of them after a few guildleves.

If you assign your own stat increases (permanantly) each level then you are going to need at least one character for Melee and one for Casting.

Unless you can actually change your stats, which makes little sense. "Hmm, I'd rather be smart today instead of strong." Or, "I'm going to fight some agile creatures today so I need to add some dexterity." It just doesn't something.

Confused, but not for long.

I take it that physical level is totally separate from class levels?

ie. the amount of XP required to raise a class level from say, 1 to 2, doesn't depend on physical level, right? So there's no disadvantage to levelling lots of classes.
