My instant first impressions of BetaFollow

I just spent an hour fooling around in Beta. I thought I'd share some optimism since there seems to be so much negativity leaking out the last few weeks.

It's freakin' awesome! :D

Seriously though, the graphics are stunning coming from FFXI, WoW, and Warhammer as the last mmo's I played. They really are every bit as impressive as I had hoped.

The controls could use some work. I'm sure that's something that will be implemented down the road. I haven't tried playing with my PS3 controller yet either, but I'm guessing that it would be smoother for now.

You can get lost in the character creator.

I was a little lost as to what exactly I needed to be doing at first, but that's my own fault for rushing through text to get going.

Long story short: SE has definitely not disappointed. Knowing that this is merely a fraction of the final product only makes me want to play the full game even more. Maybe I'm just starry-eye'd and haven't played long enough yet to really start picking it apart, but so far, it's looking like an incredible new game that is going to last a long time.

For now everyone is picking it apart, because that's all most of us can do for now. I'm pretty sure when it releases everyone is gonna eat it up. :)

A lot of the issues people have with the game in beta is the very thing that makes it a beta lol. It has bugs all over the place in some of the most random spots, plus all these bugs seem to hit every single facet of the games gameplay (so there isn't a single place you can be safe from them!) The content is sparse and balance needs to be tuned (Specifically in regards to skill ups on the mage classes).

But come release hopefully most the bugs will be ironed out, a lot more the lag will be reduced and balance will come. They are also missing a ton of stuff in regards to crafting recipes (they added a ton in beta 3 compared to beta 2), at least 4 other regions (including two other starter locations) and we are missing a significant amount of gear that was supposedly promised at launch as well.

There is only two things I really hope they change or reevaluate that 'doesn't' seem to be an issue of beta, and that is in regards to the guildleve balance within the game (They have a very backward way of looking at grouping for that. They want people to seek out people who don't need help to get more rewards) and the 48 hour down time for leves. I should beable to 'casually' play every day and not be on a cool down to do stuff. I'm hoping they significantly reduce the charge time on Guild Leves or at least make the cool down timer specific to each class rather then a whole character. You waste all your leves on one class and then you can't level any other class for their specific rewards.

like a game to look colorful and life like?

AO should be on in the game for you then. It brings out the walls and ground around you with more color/life like feeling.. However this drops FPS 10-30fps so... there... little tid bit for the graphic ***** people like me :)
