BLM/WHM was pretty straight forward and had plenty of demand.

What is up with the combative tone of this thread? My opinion is that having to play extra classes is good. You can disagree. I enjoy playing and try not to complain about having to play more.

Just go level Conjurer.

Dude I don't know who you are raging at but pretty much everyone in this thread has said "play how you want to play"

Read most of the others, they say that you can't for some reason or another. Not raging even though I went on, just find it funny how people already have the answers that don't currently work for SE.

I guess the OP would like a system where, conforming to the rules of the community of what is a good classcombo is not extra work on something he doesn't want to play, and that is what he calls freedom.

Maybe something like having only one "class" in the game and as you exp and level up you get points to buy any skills/spells you like, entirely creating your own class. You would not be forced to exp on something you don't enjoy to get a certain skill/spell, but you can get all the things the community decides is needed for a good "healer/dd/support" class. Here there would be more of the freedom I think the OP is after, relative to the system used in XIV at least. Of course, in the end the result is the same, but the one leveling can choose what they like to level and do so all the way without having to level something they consider boring as well.

For the record I only read the first page, so I might have missed something, but that is what it seemed to me he was saying anyway.

I think OP that the idea of Freedom of play style is applied differently to this game.

If you want to kill things with pointy chopsticks go and level lancer, now if you think your lancer will benefit from x or y ability that belongs to w or z job you will need to level that job in order to get it, this has the discrete benefit of additional expertise related to that job mechanics which more likely will be involved with the ability you want, but you have the freedom to use it with your lancer instead of being required to use that job for that ability.

Although you can always go alone and play only lancer with or w/o any set of abilities to your hear content, the community and eventually test results will determinate what is "best" at each stage of the game for your lancer, most certainly you will be expected to get as close as possible to that model for group activities, but that isn't lack of freedom just part of the MMORPG experience, after all everyone want to get the best of their time.
