Some **** stuff. I wonder how much of the game is anti aliased and such. Some of the trees and other foliage look a little pixelated still but I bet all of that can be upped post beta.

Wow... those screenshots are making me rethink starting in Limsa, Gridania looks so nice (guess I'm a sucker for trees). Then again, if the survey in the other thread was any indication, there's going to be a ton of people running around there.

Gridania looks like Rivendell. I'm half tempted to start there but the shot of the lalafell pugalist looking @ Ul'dah from the cliff might have changed my mind.

That boy with horns has a different hairstyle to the one in the trailer, so we can be sure that it's a whole new race in Eorzea! Not necessarily playable, but we have something interesting to learn about them once we start the game. And our first screenshot of moogles! Cute little fuzzballs this time around, I'd say!

Those screenshots are absolutely beautiful! I'm so excited!

Wow!!!!!!! I think we just got a treat into the starter intros for the other 2 city states. Makes me want to create a char and start each area then delete them to see which area grabs me the most. C'mon sept 22 or open beta with access to each starter area. I also noticed that hp pools seem to be much higher which is nice. Never understood how in ffxi mobs could hit us for more than double our max hp and we only averarge 1300-1700 base depending on race and job.

PC is done preorder is paid in full. Just waiting for the day to play.

Yep! Now people can stop digging and dissecting to say it's just a young male Miqo`te.

These are simply jaw dropping, in comparison with FFXI these appear to be 10 times better.

Now lets hope that storywise the same can be said (at least as good as).

The depth of field in the Gridania forest is amazing. Great detail on those distant trees. It looks dense and lush.

Beautiful textures all around. I love the stained glass Smiley: drool2

The area surrounding Ul'Dah reminds me too much of Arizona...

Living here all my life, I think I've seen enough desert. xD Then again, Ul'Dah's architecture is pretty awesome. Reminds me a lot of a re-glorified San D'oria.

EDIT:

That stained glass is amazing! It seems like they really focused on atmosphere in all the starting areas. I can't wait to see what lies outside of the starting areas.

We know who the boys in horns are already, SE told us at E3. They are elementals in human form :) (so not really a new race, just an existing one in a different form). Also its nice to see the Moogles acting more like moogles of previous games. I felt that they were too stiff being home maids all day in the mog house in FFXI.

I don't remember ever hearing that from SE, was it written in any of their recent interviews? Sorry if I missed it!

Every time I see that redstone canyon area I see Tahrongi Canyon. Even the plants look the same, albeit better.

The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I don't think this is healthy...

This is just driving me more crazy. Who else read every article from the different game sites to gleam little tid bits of information? Sitting in a mesmerized state, staring at every article and screenshot, studying each one at length to admire it's beauty, it's design quality? I know I'm not the only one.

This may qualify as "strange behavior" ... and is no different than a liquor company sponsoring a AA meeting. At least I'm not like those Japanese guys digging in Square Enix dumpsters every night looking for notes and details. We might be sick individuals, but we are in different classifications in the least.

Yeah the starter scenes for each city have been shown now I think. I also wonder if you would need to make a character to play through each cities starting scene. I would hope this not to be the case, and maybe they all tie into the story. Please DO NOT READ beleow this if you DO NOT WANT info on starting city cutscenes. I am going to post possible SPOILER staring city scenes.

We saw Leviathan flying over the ship and the jelly fish attacking many times by now I'm sure, and this is believed to be the start cutscene for Limsa. The hands-on game review here from FFXIV Core and another one I saw but forget the name, show the possible, and from what they are stating, most likey scenarios for Gridania and Ul'Dah.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELEOW!!!

Both have been shown I believe in the Main trailer, but just not the right context. Gridania starts out with a flying airship and it crashes, and it involves meteors in the sky. It then goes into the scene that we have seen with the giant tree, and Moogles come to the rescue with some form of magic. I think Gridania will involve Titan in some way, but is just conjecture, and trying to piece the trailer scenes together.

Ul'Dah's staring scene is the parade scene from the main trailer. Something involving Ifrit takes place, possibly an attack of some sort. This then frees the captive Goobue from it's magical confinement and has the new adventurer fighting it. The story then continues from there.

I just pieced together the scenes we have seen from the trailer, and made some conjecture from the game hands-on previews as to which city they belong to. I did not in any way intend to ruin the storyline for anyone. It is information that is already out there and is based off of possiblities, not facts. This is intended to help build excitement for the storyline, and in sad anticipation that we may not get to see them all.

Ul'Dah looks like an exciting Sandy/Jeuno place and Gridania looks like windy in a heavy forest garden.
This will be tough to choose.

1 month+ is too far away.
