I was theorizing on IRC this morning that we won't see the keys while Gamescon is going on, since I imagine they are logging in to beta servers. They should have set up a server for Gamescon itself, but I imagine that if they didn't, their reasoning was that they wanted to be able to play with others.

There was also some rumors going around about people without an official Beta Key Invite managing to sneak their way into the test. I wonder if that has anything to do with the delay as well?

I was thinking the same. It's in London correct? Forgive me because I'm bad with time zones, but they are 6 hours ahead of eastern US? I would most certainly agree that they will not give any keys till that is over. Square will want it to show as smoothly as possible, and they won't want any hiccups at all.

Anyone know when the gamescon will be over? I think it possible that the keys may not come till late today, except for that time zone thing, that's what throws me atm.

The person that I was attempting to respond to stated that SE would release beta keys on September 21st. That's when I asked the poster if he/she was joking because the game is set to be released on the 22nd. There'd be no point in giving out beta keys then. *LOL*

Who's the other guy? It looks to me like Bobby Lashley, but I can't be sure.

Also, since we're on the subject of MMA: Randy Couture. Has anybody seen The Expendables yet?

Bad segue, I know. It was all I had.

Yes, and it was awesome. I'm no film critic, though, so I'm not looking for hidden meanings or allusions in my movies. It had tons of explosions, a couple tense scenes, and a boatload of "Oh, ****" moments. It was the best thing I've seen Stallone do (not that that's saying much), Jet Li kicked a$$, and Jason Statham (whom I am a huge fan of after watching the first two Transporter movies) was excellent and practically stole the movie.

Unfortunately, I missed the A-Team, so I couldn't tell you. The only movies I've seen lately are Salt and Predators, and this easily beats them both. I'm looking forward to Red when it hits theatres, though.

Think I'm the total opposite than most guys when it comes to that stuff. Constant explosions and never-ending action sequences annoy the **** outta me. Especially if the story is crap, then it's just b.s. filler to make up for the lame story.

No I'm not trying to be sarcastic, what I'm trying to say was Rocky was actually a good movie and that the acting was good and yes I know Stallone wrote the script and I think that the Rocky character was totally written so that he could play it well, because I can't really think of anyone else that could have made Rocky who he was other than Stallone. He wrote it for himself and it totally worked out.

You heard right, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is hands down the best movie I've seen in years. It's essentially a giant hug to the nerdy/gaming community. I caught every reference and laughed until it hurt until it was over. Actually, I saw it twice and am willing to pay to see it a third time >_> .

If nothing else you have to respect that a man as old as Sly can look as good as he does at 64.

I thought The Expendables was great. Reminded me exactly of an 80's action movie

<Understood> I just thought maybe there was intended humor in saying "It was pretty much written for Stallone" considering he himself wrote it. -shrugs-

I always liked his attempts at the Old Spice(or somethin' similar) commercial in #2(I think?). "It makes me smeel mainly."

Please frogive me if I overstep, but I just saw new info based off a tweet from Fileplanet. They have stated that their keys "possibly" may be released later tonight, if not then it will be another wait on 8/19 still due to server issues. I do not have any verification on validity of this information, but I would assume it's affecting all the forums in the same manner.

If any Admins have better info, please don't hesitate to correct me. I just wanted to pass this along, because I know many are anxiously waiting any news.

So why exactly are we still waiting on these beta keys? It's not like it's hard to create a few thousand beta keys. Has anyone at SE given a reason for the delay?

I have heard mainly it's due to server issues, but Gamescon is a possibility as well. Who knows tho really.

It depends entirely on what kind of server issue they have, if they even have it. Just "creating" 5000 beta keys manually would be a pain in the ***. They may have their server automatically creating them when they press a button, so if said server is down, I could see it being a problem, as they're likely not copy-pasting the keys to mail them out to the sites. So yes, I could see server issues being the case.

Just to let people know, we still have no update on keys.

I suspect FilePlanet is the same boat as us, so I'm not sure where the whole "maybe tonight" thing comes from, but I could be wrong since their "situation" seems much stickier than ours since money is involved.

I believe I know why they postponed. The download is not working. We have 2 computers in our house. My computer did the DL just fine a week ago. I am trying to put the game on the second computer for my girlfriend in case she gets a beta code and she has stopped at 0 download and 100kb/s upload. I set both systems up so I know if one works the other should as well. Just thought I would share since this may be the reason why we haven't seen the keys yet.

I used the downloader today and it worked just fine. You probably just need to open the ports...or destroy your firewall so the sensitive downloader can work unhindered. SE makes such diva downloaders, I swear...if everything is not perfect it refuses to work.

It started to work just recently, though it is at a very slow speed. My computer had a 100 kbps DL while hers had a 100 kbps upload. They are set up exactly the same, so I have to suspect the problem came from something else. I don't really understand what though, since it is a p2p program. Other than ports, I wouldn't know what else would cause problems.
