I have to repost this here in case nobody has seen this yet. If you are running SLI or surround you need to do this.
http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/10596-nvidia-sli-fix-25896-drivers/

I told you before I was running FFXIV beta @ 5760x1080 on 2 gtx 470's and it lagged awful. Had all the settings down and resolution set to 3/4 size just to keep 45-60fps in the fields. Town was around 25-40 skipping around awful. With this fix I am now 60fps solid in the fields and 40-50fps stable in the city even with tons of people around. 60fps @ the aetherites! Settings below

5760x1080
no AA
Resolution set to Window
Shadows Standard
Textures High
Texture Filtering Highest
In game Configuration all on

I wish I could post some of these pictures at this resolution but they are huge pictures and everywhere including places like photobucket I would run out of bandwidth quick. I'm looking around trying to find somewhere to host.

What about AO and DoF?

I don't have ao on because of the performance hit from it. Dof I don't like so i turned it off. If anything I will try some AA tonight and see if I get major hits on performance. Memory usage on both gpus is around 400-600MB so there isn't a shortage there.

These don't sound so much of a fix as just dialing back graphic intensive settings to me. I could be missing something though.

Running @ surround resolution is very resource intensive and no I did not dial back settings I actually turned them up higher after setting up the sli profile in these instructions. Before I did this both gpus were running 99% pegged out but it didn't look like sli was scaling properly. If I tried to run these settings before the profile fix I would hitch and skip around all over dropping fps never reaching 60 stable.

But again, "Fix" implies something is broken when really, you're changing the default settings for the app's profile. I get what you're saying, but I don't think the game is broken necessarily. However, this would probably be something that would be good to let the developers know aboug, so either they or Nvidia can include the changes in their next driver update.

SLI GTX470? Do you run your PC inside a fridge? :D

All kidding aside, I'm a bit surprised that the game is somewhat non-SLI/Crossfire friendly.

My benchmark score on my SLi machine was 709 in low resolution.

My benchmark score on my one video card machine (that is two years older than the SLi one) hits anywhere between 2350 and 2500 on low resolution.

Any way to turn off SLi (for the time being) and run the benchmark again?

Oh, wow! It really works. Using EVGA Precision I can see that it is using both GPUs fully. I am getting a maxed 60FPS in the field and around 30-40FPS in Limsa.

My settings are

Texture Filtering = Highest
Anti-aliasing = OFF
Windowed 1920x1200
Buffer = Resultion
Shadows = Highest

All in game graphical options set to on.

-edit-
Forgot to include my specs:

AMD Phenom II 955 BE @ 3.5ghz
nVidia GeForce GTX295 (700mhz-core/1509mhz-shader/1250mhz-memory)
4GB DDR3-1600

-edit2-
Hmm, it seems that even though FRAPs is giving me a higher framerate it runs worse. For instance, if I am getting an FPS below 60 my game feels like its running below 30.

Force Vsync in the Nvidia control panel or you get microstutter.

Yep, it definitely works. Went from 10-15 FPS to 35+ FPS!

Full Screen @ 1920x1080
16xQ CSAA
Resolution Buffer Size
Highest Shadow Detail
Ambient Occlusion turned on
Depth of Field turned on
High Texture Quality
Highest Texture Filtering

I didn't do anything different and my GTX 470s are running in SLI for fullscreen mode... they don't in windowed unless I use the method, but both cards are cooking at the same rate in fullscreen.
