Glad the server I was on when I played is gone. I would hate to have been known as Geffe Fairy.

Looking at the description, it specifies that the "second bonus" is the shoes, and the "third bonus" is the name carryover, so I don't think you need to carryover your name to get the shoes.

the shoes are almost worth reactivating my character for... but not really

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.

Hmm...I have been looking for ways to spend time until Sept. 22nd...still have the installation discs for XI...the little devil over my shoulder is like "Dude, why not?" But yeah, that would mean starting with a new character @ level 1...which would suck...those shoes would be pimp with the golden subligar and a gold cape & mask though...

Yeah, I'm going to be Mikhalia but certainly not Mikhalia Carbuncle. I love my server name but I'm not going to wear it for 5+ years, and I don't plan on picking XI back up completely.

So I'm trying to decide of $13 is worth a pair of shoes that I have one shot at ever getting.

Combine with Asuran Armbands and Onion Helm and the three turn me into FANBOY MAN MAN MAN MAN MAN!

Mikhalia: and FWIW, my posts are 95% helpful, informative, or funny.
Mikhalia: only 5% or less of my posts are utter crap.
Tyapex: 393 posts of utter crap...
Mikhalia: Sounds about right.

I hope there's good instruction on how to do this account link though. Since IIRC FFXI = PlayOnline and FFXIV = SqEnix member account.
Go here to link your playonline ID to Square-enix account .>>>> <<<

So now that I'm not reactivating my character, I'm hoping that IF the shoes increase speed the stats look like this:

-10 All Stats

1/1 2:00/ :15 - Non-Rechargeable - Movement speed enhanced by 3.5% (Nighttime use only).

The shoes do look tempting indeed, but only if they provide the movement speed for full time at least for some significant area (read: cities) if not whole world. In FFXI even a slight movement speed bonus felt very helpful when running from place A to B, even if it was only in a certain city (Aketons), so I'd probably enjoy such bonus in FFXIV as well. But if it's just a rechargeable flee or such, personally I don't think its worth it.

The option to transfer your characters (+ server) name to XIV doesn't sound good at all though, I think they should've used a bit more imagination than adding your old servers name as the surname of your character, because I don't think many people like that at all.

OK If I'm reading the data on those shoes correctly. FFXIV now has a "Wear" value like the gear in Elder Scroles. If it goes down to 00000/13900 do they become useless and break like a rod until you try to fix it with the required matereals? Does that modifier increase on the wear? If the repair process is like crafdting in XI, would there be a chance for them to break and be lost or could we craft our own laiter in game? If anything it seems to be a good way to get people into crafting.

the Hermes Shoes will be available in your inventory at the start of the game, provided that you have an active XI account linked before your character is created and you must have a valid Content ID registered. The account cannot be in a free trial period.

Does this mean the first 30 day that comes with the game? Or is there a trail version of the game one can play?
