So after running my mouth about how I'd never play XIV no matter what...
I watched, with great interest, everything released about XIV for the last 3 months.
I downloaded the benchmark, and failed- then felt sad.
I ordered an Alienware m17x just to play XIV.
I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition.
I put the band back together - in it's entirety - from our XI shell with 2 weeks of phone calls.
I just realized at no point before now did I notice my foot sitting snugly in my mouth for the last 3 months.

**** you SE for making such good stuff. I guess you're going to own me for another 6 years!

I just ordered an ASUS G73 to play FFXIV with. I took your Alienware and compared the prices. With the exact same specs, My g73 was 1780$ after taxes. Your Alienware is 2799$

Just saying... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220704

Showing you this link to look at the specs, I bought Canadian and from a different website, so that's not the same price that I got it for.

I was adamant about not playing XIV after quitting XI, even though all my boys were. There was no way I was going to walk into another black hole, from which neither time nor hope can escape. I was good up until ComiCon last month. Wandered innocently into the SE booth. Ever seen the trailer on a 30 foot screen? Anyway, a month and new PC later, here I am.

Yeah Z, I did look at the Asus, but part of the reason I chose the AW was that I always wanted one, and through work, I could order it, and they let me pay it off over a year with payroll deductions- interest free.
The other reason was I was impressed with the AW cooling system, and the easy overclocking software. I would not have been disappointed with the Asus though, it was a coin toss close type of decision.

Yes Alienware is more expensive, but you are also paying for a great service and a guaranteed well put together computer. You cannot say the same from most other sites. Plus, I could make the comment that you paid 400 dollars more than my computer (which I paid no tax or shipping for) and I got a desktop with a more powerful graphics card and processor, as well as a better motherboard and power supply. Things are all relative. ^^

Oh, that's not bad then, I just thought the price was insane considering the ASUS is 1000$ cheaper. What specs did you go with anyways?
