How many are there? :)

That really sucks if you have to send them out one by one, couldn't you just add multiple email addresses and send them in groups? (I know, off topic hehe)

Sadly, she likely has to send them out one at a time because people can't be trusted. These keys are like registration keys you get with any PC game, and chances are the first person to get the e-mail would steal them all if sent in bulk.

If it was a large amount of keys it would be unreasonable to send them out one by one. An automated script could easily be constructed to go through the list of keys and the list of e-mails of the winners, and send 1 key to each winner.

The fact that she is sending them out by hand leads me to believe that the number of keys is on the order of hundreds. If there were thousands of keys, I'd assume someone would take the time to make an automated e-mail to send them out.

I still like the sound of 3000 keys to send out but I know its not true lol. 500 would even be good odds but sadly it may be even less than that. And where are all the winners that should have theirs by now? Figured Id see a new OMG I WON I WON thread or two or ten.
Again good luck. :)

3000 keys would be great! I think about 3000-3200 people applied in the beta give-away thread so if that were true, majority would be happy people by the end of today. Realistically, though, who knows :(

Good luck to all!

If you click on your name in the upper right, it should take you to your account page. From there there should be a "User" link. Click that and it'll show the email they have on file for you. That's how I checked :)

And in the midst of the silence in that place between worlds came the rumbling of thunder. Eyes alight with a sudden dreadful burning hope, he watches as the symbols on the floor begin to glow. The glow grows brighter as the outlines of a gate begin to form. Anxious now, he sees that the gate is opening. . . brighter and brighter. . .

--And suddenly he is gone from that place between worlds. The door has opened, and he has stepped through. In the place where his spellbooks once lay, a message for all those that have come before, and all those yet to come.

Just got my golden ticket -- a huuuge thanks to ZAM and Pikko for their hard work and general awesomeness. I couldn't be happier that I placed my faith in you guys; this is easily one of the best forums I've had the pleasure of being a part of. Your kindness, intellect and humor are unmatched! I greatly look forward to experiencing the beta version of the game, flaws or not, and seeing you guys inside Eorzea!

This sounds uncomfortably like an Oscar acceptance speech... xD But I am very grateful.

I got a german beta key. Willing to give away to someone who lives in eu but not without answering some ffxi trivia. ;)

What was the name of the item you would receive for winning your server's Ballista Royale tournament?

epidemicOptikz, I'd love that german key. I'm from NA, but I would attempt to trade the EU key with someone from EU for an NA key. And as for the trivia, time for h4x! (also known as the internets): It's the Stars Cap. That, or the Laurel Crown, but that looks like winning more than just your servers tournament.

Not to worry. Only a few have reported getting keys, and if they're sending keys one by one as this thread states, it's going to take some time to get them all out. I haven't gotten one yet, but I haven't given up hope! :D Congrats to all who have received theirs!!

Umm.. ~coughs~ hehe naww seriously though alot of people are probably in the same boat. They think its great keys are going out to people on here, because as well all Know ZAM people are the best.. well most of them anyway. But yes, well all want a key. And i Kinda feel bad for Pikko having to do it manually for each email she sends. even if its only 50 or so, its going to take a while. Hopefully theres more then that but for Pikko's sake hopefully not?

Btw downlaoding the client.. its going to take a while lol

At least the client download is peer-to-peer and not a direct download from SE's servers in one massive piece. Despite the flaws in this particular setup, it's still worlds better than FFXI's system (I'm sure we've all had those 99% downloads that suddenly failed after 8 hours of downloading)

Works nicely for Blizzard too. They'll often even start sending large chunks of data out before the official patch to minimize download time on patch day.

Understandable, indeed it's a good community and we're here to encourage, but bottom line is we're all gamers and you play to win the game...

Like others mentioned, I didn't feel like gloating but I got mine earlier...Huge thanks to Pikko & all of Zam!

That's the downloader.. not the full client. The full client is several gigabytes

What you just downloaded is what enables you to download the actual game content, and there's where the time comes in.

Maybe I just got lucky, or maybe it's because my roommate got selected for the beta and thus had access to the forums so I could get the ports to open for the downloading client opened before hand, but my download only took about an hour and 45 minutes.
