Qs for Beta Testers from a testerFollow

#1 Aug 20 2010 at 12:59 PM Rating: Decent
Just got in the beta and would like to share some issues so far.

The CSes runs pretty smoothly but in game seems to run a little weird.
When moving the camera angle around to view the other sides of the area, there seems to be some lag even when standing in the same spot just turning the camera around.

I also see other players skip along sometimes and lag pop along the floor as the go farther away.
The Send/Receive status is always yellow with very low numbers even with the proper port fowarding set.

After 10 minutes the game crashed and had to be closed (vista 64).

Just want to know if anyone else is experiencing these issues.

If you see issues, check the official beta forums. Do a search to see if others are experiencing the same things. If so, maybe add a comment that you have the same issue. If not, log the issue yourself. After all, that's what being a beta tester is all about!

I really would suggest not going to the forums too often though. You will start to find things about the game that you really dislike. There is such a huge QQ fest going on in there it makes me want to just wait for the final retail release.

Yeah the send and receive numbers will stay low. Ive found that when in menus (this does include crafting) it will drop even into red. Just be patient with it, the kinks will all be worked out upon release.

Seems to really depend. I have really bad lag in town, but I'm okay outside of town. Members of my LS don't seem to have the same problems. But it's been buggy, choppy, and inconsistent since the beginning - they're still working out hardware optimization.

I haven't noticed a lot of lag, just the slight delay in opening menus and such. IMO most people set their graphic settings too high, because the difference in play between 1080 and 720 is insane on my machine. 20-30fps compared to capping at 60fps. Now all my settings were set to very high so I could probably get away with running it at 1080 I just need to lower my settings.

As another user said they are still working out hardware issues, but stop giving your machine more than you can handle and it will run MUCH MUCH better and not CRASH!!!

I would suggest running the game at minimum or the lowest settings you can deal with. It's not just the mouse that seems to be in software mode, it seems the whole game depends upon your FPS. Max settings there is a .5 second delay with the crafting games. Low settings it is instantaneous. I think they have some programs in the game that are tracking everything everyone is doing. Adds way more strain than there should be.

Just an update:
Really weird gameplay or client. Crashed on loading with admin rights, tried 2nd time again and hasn't crashed for a few hours so far.
This time round now everything is running smoothly with hardly no lag at all.
Reading beta manuals and have to go over the current NDA or what ever is allowed to be revealed.

Make sure your drivers are up to date. What kind of hardware are you running?
Keep in mind, with the thousands of people that got a key today, the servers will be flooded. Stress testing in action. SE will get the kinks worked out, so hang in there.

This is one of those few times where "It's just beta!" applies. There are a lot of technical issues that they're slowly working through. Crashing, bad connection, lag, etc are all very normal for this stage.

Everything is always up to date on my system but here are specs:
QX9650 Core 2 Extreme (quad core) 3.0ghz at stock
Asus tri-fan HD4870X2 2GB
8GB DDR2 Ram
Maximus II Formula
ABS 1100w PSU
32' 1080p Panny LCD
Vista 64 Ultimate

It is running very smoothly now but i still need to test things out at different times of the day and night though.
Still have much testing to do. I can run FFXI, FFXIV plus many other things at the same time and it still runs smoothly.

Just determining the peak CPU/GPU processing and heat amounts that may increase under different settings like resolution, time of day/night in-game, other software/applications running etc etc.
I may build another rig and use it for just games though.
