Beta Launcher problemsFollow

Here is my problem. I went to Fileplanet and downloaded the FF14 Beta Launcher. (#1 Hottest file download)
It prompted me to then install Download Manager which then ended up proceeding to install the Final Fantasy XIV Beta Version. (ffxivsetup.exe) Now I have a new ff14 icon on my desktop which I then click and go into. However, when I click on it, it opens briefly and then I get a "Final Fantasy XIV Beta Version has stopped working" microsoft error.
Is this where I would go into to get the patching files for the client? I feel like I'm missing something or didn't get the right files I need to download the client and patch it. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

Yes, I am having the exact same issue with the benchmark. When I look into my dxdiag it shows DirectX 11 on there. I know ff14 uses directx 9, I've tried to go back and download some older directx files on the microsoft site... not sure what I'm missing though. Any ideas which exact files i need to download?

Go HERE and download directX 9.

Edit: just because you have DirectX 11, doesn't mean you have DirectX 9. Download it and your problems will fade away.

I show that I have SP2 on my windows vista. I also downloaded that linked directx 9 and I'm still having the same problems. I also checked all of my drivers and everthing is up to date. FF14 benchmark site shows you need to have directx 9.0c or higher.. which it seems that I have. Not sure what else to do but just wait for the retail version and just hope that it will work. :(

Yeah, I've been pulling my hair out to try and troubleshoot what the problem could be.

Yeah, the copy of vista is good. I bought the system about 3 years ago from Gateway..at that time it was definitely one of the higher end rigs out there. Now of course, i'm going through the update process. :P

Are you running it as administrator?

Edit: i also wonder if your ATI Radeon X1950XTX Crossfire Edition is capable. I'm pretty sure if you don't have a 57xx series or better, you may be out of luck.

With windows vista, I have to run almost everything as administrator. I'm aware of doing that. I know my x1950xtx cards are pretty old, but they rank higher than alot of other cards that I notice people have posted that they have used while doing the benchmark. Unless SE just does not support that particular card, than I don't know. I know I'm going to be upgrading to a HD57XX most likely very soon anyways. Hopefully you are right, and the card is the problem in that case.

The X1950 isn't really a great card. It ranks pretty low compared to recommended cards like the 57XX or 460.

/sigh, yeah i know. Hence the reason for my problems and why I'm gonna order a new single card soon! :)
That's gotta be the issue I would think. Anyhow, thanks for the input guys.
