Ok, so I port forwarded everything.
I turned off the firewalls.
I set up a static IP at my physical location.
I opened all the ports everyone has suggested.
I have 59 Remote Connections, 1 Local Connection, and 20-60 kb/s download speed.
I am running it as Administrator, and can't figure out what else to do.

From what I hear, it's possible your ISP may just throttle P2P traffic.

Thanks for your help!

Downloading at steady pace at 280ko/s opening all port as mentioned in first post.
I also started the uploader as administrator and turned off Win7's firewall and personal firewall for a moment.

See you in game in 4-5h TOP :)

Ugh, mine seems to be worse than ever and worst part is I can't do anything about it. I've forwarded my ports but I can't get static IP- the directions from my ISP just don't seem to work and this is not my area of expertise. In the past 12 hours I've reached 2.9% and its stayed steadily here since....oh but hey, at least I'm seeding to others at 29kbs.

In this situation, I wish there was a stanard download option for those of us for whom P2P is hosed.
To be fair, though, I doubt updated will be in the 4-5 GB range, like this first file is.
Someone out there posted that it was 5 MB, the big file is 4.7 GB.

Sitting at 90.9% after a little less than 48 hours...Guess I'll just let it finish and hope it doesn't die at 99.8% or something.

I had to redownload the 4gb file because for some reason the updater decided to erase it and try to download it again.

I was lucky I copied a backup of the file. -.-

not like it matters, the beta is 100% closed anyways.
I'm supremely ****** off.
NOT because stuff isn't working,
but because this company is handling things so horribly that I now have Zero confidence in how they will operate the game for the next few years.
Requested self-ban from admin. Later guys, good luck

Personally I just set up a static ip and then I just put that IP as the DMZ in the router. Easy. I disabled windows firewall too.

I'd like to point out that after 3 hours of downloading a 4.8mb patch my updater is now stuck at 94.8% and i have multiple Remote and Local Connections, and yet download speed remains a whopping 0.00kbps.

Upload works perfectly fine, but download stopped as soon as it hit 94.8%

- I got to test the game for like an hour this afternoon before work and now i return home from work im stuck for 3 hours downloading 4.8mb patch, ive not spent 3 hours downloading 4.8mb since i used a 56k modem. WTF is SE playing at here, if this is the state of their updates when the game is released live then i for one will keep my monthly fee and stick my fingers up at them.

I've wasted 2 days trying to register to the beta, another 2 days trying to access the site and then 4 days downloading the ******* client. What exactly do they expect people to test? the updater and thats it because i cant see anyone being ingame testing anything if everyone is sat waiting at 94.8%.

I cant even access their Test Sites forum because even as a tester i have no access to view it, let alone post there.

This has to be one of the poorest run Beta's i've ever seen in my gaming life, and i've been gaming a long time.

Here's a link to a different thread that has an alternative to the official downloader. If you feel comfortable with installing a different torrent programming and some copying/pasting of a file, I highly suggest you give it a shot.

I've found a nice solution to this, use the Torrents from downloads/ffxiv-beta/d96437e6/patch

Grab the torrent file from there and open it in your Torrent program, once its completed you then have to copy this file to the offical updaters location, which for some reason is in a completely different folder to your game cilent.

On my PC with Default install and running Win 7 it can be found here:

C:/users/owner[yourname]/mydocuments/mygames/Final Fantasy XIV Beta Version/downloads/ffxiv-beta/d96437e6/patch

Then paste the completed torrent download here, then run the updater again and it should hopefully apply that patch, i've just used bittorrent to download the 4.8mb patch then did the above and its worked first time, im now ingame.

Hope this helps you all.

I'm thinking there is a modification to this that applies to the retail version. Back to 0 remote and 0 download again.

Well I haven't changed my ports since I did it for the beta the first time.

And I've ACTUALLY gotten better results this time around... as high as 500kb download speeds.
