Are any of our fine posters here at Zam familiar with Tomb of Horrors? I know Sephrick and Olorinus are.

Go on, read that link. It will take you a while, but it's worth it. The thread will still be here when you're done.

I swear to you, SE must have hired Acererak or something. It would explain so much.

Acererak is a ****. He put a magical hole on the wall that completely destroys a character. For no reason!

I laughed.

Actually, myself and a few friends were discussing running the Tomb of Horrors but modifying for a later version, possibly AD&D, just to make it that much more deadly. Apparently there are several traps that deal "Death + 2D10" damage. There are also some reports that Gygax wrote this adventure specifically to kill off characters he didn't like.

I'm familiar with ToH, although I've never played it myself. Ah, the good ol' pnp days.

It was written as a "tournament campaign". There was never any intent for anyone to beat it per se, so much as "Whoever got furthest without dying" was declared the "winner".

That's ToH in PDF form, rewritten for 3E, if you like 3E.

Mikhalia ran an abbreviated version of this campaign in IRC on my first night in there - it was hilarious - and horrible.

Really wish I could have been there for that. I sure as heck wouldn't want to run through the Tomb of Horrors.
