What a tease indeed. Hurry up and wait. Got beta key but this silly client is grating on my nerves. My question is to those that have successfully downloaded the client. How long did it take you? I started around 9am cst and as of 3pm cst im only at 23% of the 1/6. Please tell me that this first file is the biggest and that the other 5 will glide on by. I have my router set to static ip, got ports opened all in the 55296-55551 range. Upnp is enabled. However my upload speed is like 89kb/s while download speed is 0 wut gives? People keep mentioning udp 80 but im not sure what that is exactly is it the one in my router settings under remote management which is default at 8080.

**** the version updates from ffxi sucked a bit but never took me longer than 2hrs tops. Im doing my best to be patient as I understand not everyone got in, but so far im no different as I have key but am not playing yet. Kinda like the guy that has a car thats broken down vs the guy that doesnt have a car. Point being they are both walking lmao.

Anyway i dont want to use torrent but this kinda makes me want to. Trying to be good and use the official.

Took me about 8 hours all told, the first file is the transition patch from alpha to beta and is definitely the largest.

1.6MB/s after about 10 minutes. Took around an hour total.

Try opening the torrent file in a torrent client and using DHT if SE's p2p program isn't working for you.

Yeah I didn't do that, I just accepted the fact that downloading an MMO client takes a long time and ignored it until it was done.. and then I pushed it across my home network so my laptop could have a copy without me having to do that again

google Utorrent.

If you need more info, go to google and search for "Torrent Wiki" and read what a torrent is on wikipedia.

Took me an unimaginably long time until I port forwarded.

Then it took about 30 seconds.

Took me forever, about 12 hours, but that's what I expected. I didn't want to port forward or turn firewall off because I believe in safety.

If you know someone who has the beta, as long as you have installed the update you can simply have them copy their entire FFXIV folder into a network or portable harddrive and just transfer it, had mine in 40mins no patch needed (my computer seems to block P2P, always has...)

i left it overnight and got only to 20%. when i woke up i then disconnected my router and plugged my computer in directly. took maybe an hour and a half for the rest. i would have port forwarded but for some reason i can't access my router settings... it asks for my username/password then when i get it correct the page just goes blank "shrug".

oh to clarify: the download bar you see is the only bar there is, meaning all files are included in that single bar.

In the Beta forums the slow downloading speeds was a topic of constant discussion. I've had to download the complete client a few times since Aplha, and It's never taken me longer than a few hours. I have no idea why some people are having such trouble downloading. And I live in New Zealand too, our internet is like 20 years behind the rest of the world.

My only advice is make sure you forward the ports! Have a look on the beta forums for the ports to be forwarded. That's all I did and, like I said, I have no download problems at all.

How do you forward the ports?

Go to what screen?

Click on what?

Is there reason that it cannot be explained?

24+ hours and the first file is at 27.2%. Am I going to wait 4 days for the first file to be done? Really?
