Teleporting and AnimaFollow

So I was reading somewhere that a person can teleport between certain points but at the cost of anima...

It appears in this game you cannot buy anima, but rather it is recharged.

How often does anima recharge? How much is recharged per session?

You have 100 anima total, it starts full. Costs 4 anima to teleport. Recharges very slowly, but I've yet to get mine lower than 60.
#3Nooloo, Posted: Aug 22 2010 at 5:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've heard or read some where that it recharges at a rate of 4/24 hours. Seems a bit low IMO. In 2 days play I've managed to run myself fairly low already. Hopefully this will get adjusted in open beta/release.

I think it's faster than four every twenty four. I swear I've noticed mine go up a few times... have to pay more attention to it.

Well...

The people I have spoke to about this have yet to confirm how many are recharged and how long it would take.

Honestly...

If it is 4 every 24 hours, would that be tied to JP midnight?
IMO, I think it should be more than 4 per day. People shouldn't punished for using fast travel, rather invent creative ways for a person to get from point A to point B and beyond...

Those who are lucky to beta should be paying attention to how long it takes to get from place to place.

I've been in since friday night and I'm down to 37 right now...but I've been abusing it, like going from bearded rock into town just out of laziness...we're also not seeing the entire game yet, there will be chocobos, airships, boats, etc. to make use of eventually

Anima doesn't regenerate 4 points at a time, it regenerates one point at a time. So every six hours or so you get one point.

Keep in mind that teleporting isn't meant to be some thing you do all the time, or else they wouldn't bother having it cost anima in the first place. S-E may increase the rate of regeneration at release, but I highly doubt it. If you find yourself running through anima at a crazy pace it probably means you're teleporting when you should be walking.

Also keep in mind that there are chocobos and air ships, which may act as transportation over short and long distances once they are unlocked or implemented in retail release. If/when other travel options are implemented, you may not feel as much need to teleport every place you go.

Every time you plan to teleport yourself some place you should be asking yourself whether it is worth using up the day's alotment of anima. You might find there are a lot of cases where you could be walking but simply choose not to.

The lowest my anima has gone so far is 87, because I'm trying to use it like I'll use it when the game is live, knowing that it's not an unlimited resource.

Well, I haven't paid any attention to how fast it recharges, but I've yet to see mine drop below 84, mind you I don't teleport all that much. Also, when you are in a party, you can teleport yourself, and everyone in your party near by to the destination, only costing the person who started the teleport 4 Anima, perhaps intended as another incentive to party?

Yeah, don't spam teleports lol. Once you drain it you'll never teleport again realistically. It's really meant for occasional use, e.g don't teleport to bearded rock from limsa and vice versa, but if you're going to the furthest camps its good to teleport every so often.

hmmm, never even thought about that O.O but I suppose it could be, at least for people who don't teleport much on their own for whatever reason.

*edit*
I can also see people creating mules they don't play for this, have their friends tele them to each point to get all the points, and then every couple of weeks, log in with full Anima to tele people around.

You can death warp for free, but it only takes you back to the last Aetherite you visited. Yeah, don't be afraid to run more then you tele. It doesn't take that much time, and it will become a pain when you need to go somewhere fast, but can't because you are out of anima.

I received a teleport prompt at Skull Valley from a person in Bloodshore. The teleport range is large, if not unlimited.

You can also teleport people to a camp even if they haven't touched the destination's Aetheryte.

This is sure to change in retail, but it is a nice way to zip around with a new character.

hmmm, good to know O.O guess I should have tested that further, as we've always been near each other when ready to tele out, such as standing at the Guildleve guy for the next one of us in turn to start the leve's

Listening to this system, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some hidden effects of having low anima. We all know how much SE loves hidden aspects of the game. I'd imagine that loosing large parts of your soul would have a negative effect on your production in some way. I am sure this will soon be discovered by some of our stat happy friends. I can buy into this system. Teleportation is nice for the convenience of traveling across a vast world, but it's not something that should be abused. The world should still be traveled and appreciated by conventional means as well. Nothing like a Sunday afternoon chocobo ride ; )

The teleporting works well but one thing we should also anticipate is the 4 and 2 anima listed just popped us around the region of LL. I would be willing to bet money that jumping to an Aerth Crys in Ul or Gran region from the LL region will cost 8-10 anima depending on distance or faction status. Much like outpost warp in FFXI. Just a heads up, so running through 100 anima could actually take no time at all in bad circumstances. Just a thought...

That's kind of what I thought might happen. So that it works out just like XI, if you want to go to the other side of the world, you would hop on the airship, then take a chocobo out. However, if you need to get there really fast, say for a party, you can use the anima and get there instantly. It's something that enables people who only play for a few hours every couple of days to still get lots of things done, while not killing the experience of traveling across a huge world.
