I've spent most my time in the beta exploring and thought I'd share some images!

Lots of mobs and scenic landscapes

Will upload more later... :)

Edit: Second gallery from down the page

Just don't feed them after midnight, and for god sakes... don't let them near water!

I'm fairly convinced that I'm going to spend the first couple hours of the game just hanging out with Raging Rams. They're way too cute!

How do you print a screenshot in FFXIV? Just print screen and paste it somewhere or does it save the screenshot somewhere like in some other games?

Right now the beta client can't take screen shots so you will need to use some third party program, like FRAPs.

However, the free version of FRAPs will export all the screen shots into uncompressed BMP files, which are huge.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/gzoapk

This is a pretty simple batch file that will convert these to PNG and cut the file size by a pretty huge amount. I've included a readme, but it's pretty simple. Just place it (both the .bat and the .exe) in the folder with all your giant BMPs and then run the .bat file, and it will convert and compress all your screen shots into a much nicer format.

I think that only works in windowed mode. I definitely didn't get it to work in fullscreen.

And I agree about the elementals looking like FFXI's pixies. I actually LIKED FFXI's elementals. I thought the wind, light, and ice elementals were particularly cool looking.

It does, you just have to cut everything else out.

@Guardian: It really doesn't look like the pixies from XI.

@Wooden Thing: Yep it is indeed an airship dock, you'll see the cargo ships ala FFIX style flying around everywhere.

Dang, my leveling of a thaumaturge turned into an expedition (trying to find mobs to level with since I can't do any leves yet) and I was pressing print screen a lot hoping it might work. Oh well, I'll go again later with fraps.

Caves with sewer moles and fireflies are good. Watch out for Cave Bats though. Also I really liked the bottom left peninsula when I was rank 4-6. Its full of Lost Ewes and Lost Wethers.

The place I was had a ton of ahriman and fallen archmages/captains as well as a few qirin (or whatever those little rat dudes are called). Actually one of the screen shots you have looked exactly like a cave I went into, the one with the two giant toads (creepy) and an ahriman. The ahriman was cool, it licks it's teeth when it's about to kill you (know first hand).

I ran up it too, but the gates were closed. I wanted to stand on it to take screen shots lol. Still not exactly sure what it's for. Could be an airship dock, but it's hard to say atthis point. I've found 2 of them so far.

Location of those dock things

I put red dots where the staircase/possible airship dock things are. It's really unusual because they aren't that close to any of the cities. I also put blue lines where the invisible walls are.

I'm not so sure about that. It seems like this time the elementals (at least the lightning and earth ones) look the same, the only difference being the colors.

At least in XI each elemental was unique, both in shape and color.

I think it is pretty obvious that those are airship docks that take you to the city and back, possible a stop on the way to other starting areas. They both are conveniently placed near the entrances to the northern leveling areas (levels 40-50). If you run out of anima and need to go to the north it would be an hour walk to get there. As much as SE tries to slow us down with cooldowns, timers and stupid running around, they do need to give us an alternative way of traveling great distances other than the limited Anima teleportation.

I was hoping there would be at least one picture of the carrion crows near Camp Bald Knoll. They look just like the ones in FFXI, except they're blue.

Also, is it wrong that I'm hoping Aleport and Wineport actually sell ale and wine?

I vote this.

If SE didn't think of this already they should read this.

I have a picture of a Buzzard in the first album.
I think it's the same model as the Carrion Crow. I didn't want to take too many pics of different mobs with the same models.

I just found the sea cave dungeon today after looking for it since I started beta.

I love it.

Then a slug killed me and I was sad.

Then a group of skeletons gang-killed me, but I did that one on purpose.
