I love how all my spells are AoE the attacking spells are so huge i will kill everyone by linking everything in an area.

I do with they would make the curing spells a larger area. I also wish curing gave you skill points as well.

In a guildleve typically the monsters will auto-link together even if you only attack one.

Well yes they are grouped together, But I mean if you doing your 4 rats and a Sheep walks by, you dont have to worry about fighting that sheep.

AoE spells will only hit monsters that are attacking you, or that you are engaged on. So you won't have to worry about a stray spell grabbing extra monsters.

Thank you for mentioning that, i had been curious as to why people never seemed to bring up the AoE spells possibility to link like crazy, but that makes sense now, i had just never got around to asking. I wish the client would hurry up and finish downloading already, i want to playy!

1 point every 4 hours.

Not meant to be something you use constantly.

AOE spells have an area of effect yes.

Because it is the nature of an AOE that is has an area of effect that might hit something you aren't specifically targeting, otherwise it would be superior to a single target spell in all cases. People accept this for the same reason they accept that walking off a ledge causes you to fall or that standing in fire hurts you.

I thought of it first:

This is great to know, as I've been wondering that myself :P though fyi this does not apply to everything, as Circle Slash on my Glad has gotten me into trouble with unseen links more than once :P

Proper mouse function with an AoE placer would fix this.

I verify it...plenty of times I'd AoE something with 1 or 2 other mobs near it and they don't budge.

Then what is the point in letting us decide between AoE and Non-AoE? I tested and it does the same damage so its a no brainer to have AOE enabled.

The point is that high level leves are supposed to be done in groups, and groups are supposed to be fighting against groups.

So, you get a legion ranked leve with a 16 man party, I think you are supposed to be fighting larger groups of mobs are once (I would love to see 24 mob parties in a guild leve :D)

Many of the weapon skills like skewer are supposed to be much more effective against groups of mobs in certain formations, so this would be interesting to mess with.

OK im in the beta and ive played a bit of DoM but mainly DoW...
Lets say we get to a point where we are binding or sleeping mobs but still want to use magic to attack enemies near one another. How do you turn off the AoE and make the spell specific to the 1 creature of the party of 2 so they other mob will stay bound/sleep?? Ive yet to figure out how to turn off the AoE.... am I alone in this?

There isn't a way to do it that I know of, so you will have to pull the mobs away from the slept mobs.

There is a way to toggle AoE, as far as I know. When you select a spell you have area of effect option. I do not know how to toggle it with controler, I have to use the mouse if I want to toggle it.

Magic AoE vs WS/Ability AoE?

I can. I was fighting two puks for a guildleve, used Circle Slash, and hit an aldgoat behind me. I didn't know that it wasn't the puk that killed me until I read the chatlog.

The only way to change from AoE to single target is by clicking the big green Area of Effect button that pops up when you choose a spell. You must click it with the mouse, as far as I've been able to determine there's no other way to affect this button, also it doesn't save its state and defaults to AoE so you must do this absolutely every single time you cast a spell and want it to be single target.

Can you tell this irritates me?

Also I've had issues where my AoE buffs and heals don't always hit my party members even if I'm standing inside of them

I have the AoE buff issue as well. Everyone will stack and 1 or 2 people will not get it.

Keep in mind some spells are cone not circle aoe.

You can use the controller to turn off aoe depending on how you set it up.
