The Japanese Square Enix Members account has been buzzing on Twitter today about the upcoming sales campaign for Final Fantasy XIV. Gaming stores across the country are about to receive some posters, standees and wall scrolls to decorate their windows and get the word out. I apologize for the poor quality, but the account holder appears to use a tiny cell phone camera most of the time.

Check out the pictures here!

I read in another thread, that there were posters and such all over japan all ready. Is this more marketing in japan, or can the US and Europe expect to see some of this?

I would assume the hype in Japan will be 1000% bigger than the rest of the world.

Unfortunatly.

This reminds me of the giant "Return of the King" display I took from work back when the special edition dvd was coming out. Even broken down into pieces there was barely room for me in my car on the drive home. Too bad it got water damage and I had to throw it out, it would have been a nice collectors item someday possibly.

Whoa - folks riding a dragon. Would be neat if we can do that.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.

^ Yeah, that's what I'm wondering. They gotta do it now. Cardboard cutout says so.

Pretty cool. Hopefully the US marketing campaign will be along the same lines.

Not to burst any bubbles, but you guys do know that the cutout of the adventurers riding the wyvern is from the upcoming Nintendo DS remake of Final Fantasy 1, right? I highly doubt we'll ever see anything of the sort in Eorzea. :(

It's actually from the DS title, the 4 Heroes of light, as is mentioned in the link just above that photo.

As mentioned, the dragon people are from the Four Warriors of Light. It's in there as an example of Square Enix making promo material available to players. Also, it's not a remake of FF1, but a completely original title. It's almost like Final Fantasy: The Children's Book. Not in a bad way, but just really simplified in both style and game mechanics. It's a fun title, and you should try it out -- it comes out in NA on Oct. 5th.

It's not a remake of the first game? ...Where on earth did I hear that it was? :s
