Just speculating here but SE has said they have 10 servers currently "with more possibly planned for when service begins in september." According to this http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/81638/americas-preorders-chart-21-august-2010-halo-reach-at-the-top/ there are 142,174 pre-orders of the PC version in North America alone, although it doesn't state if those are Collectors editions.
Anyone have any idea how many CE are being made? If those numbers are just for the CE then there will be 14K people per server on the 22nd,unless they add more servers by then.I really hope I didn't pay an extra $25 so I can enjoy log in queue's the first week.

I'm hoping that with the CE starting a week early, it will help relieve some of the crowding in the starter areas, at least for people who bought the CE. :p

Depends if they limited the sales, and I don't think they did?

It will be pretty crowded I assume. How stable the servers will be and how many is anyone's guess. Just have to keep logging in until you get in.

When you think about it, its kinda another reason to be excited at just how popular this game is getting.
There will hopefully be many more servers, but also remember there will be a few starting areas per server.
Not sure how many exactly but that will help thin numbers too.

I think that might be the only thing I'm looking forward to PS3 coming out later be less congestion than if released at same time, but however I still wish PS3 would be here much sooner, seems like gonna be almost 1/2 a year behind everyone else. But I'm sure most of the bugs will be worked out by then also. I don't think I've ever seen an MMO that didn't have technical difficulties at release.

I'm blown away by that. I guess there are a ton of people either waiting for a new FF MMO or looking to jump ship for a new MMO.

I think it will be "busy" but not insane.

Is it wrong to be looking forward to the massive crowds? Something is fun about running up to rats and having them claimed by an archer at the last moment. I'm pretty sure that's just me though.

Awesomely hectic starting zones seem like a welcome change from the lonely hours I spent leveling jobs 1-12 solo in South Gustaberg.

Likely that's just the perspective of someone who has never been in an MMO at release before.

Good practice for NM claiming when ya have to compete for the beetle that just spawned..."Stupid archer! I should've had that 1, where's my chi blast??"

I'm looking forward to it, and it'll be a lot of fun. There will be drawbacks though. Seeing the same questions asked over & over again for one...

It most likely will be pretty crowded the first days.
14K per server, 3 starting cities. 4.7K people per city if everything is spread out evenly. Which i highly doubt ;)
It beats games like AoC tho where you could run around cities and quest areas without hardly seeing anyone.

Guess it's a good thing then that the quest related mobs can not be claimed by anyone else. All though it would be fun and stressful if you need to kill 5 rats and other people keep claiming them right in front of you and the minutes slowly ticking away. :)

lol, ok assuming that half of those (if not more) are the collectors edition, with 10 servers and 3 starting areas....that's roughly 2,369 players per city at the start. LOL, gonna be a fun launch.

They may want to consider adding more servers... just sayin.

Set a "Please read the Call of Adventure" macro.

Hehe. I asked how to check enemies but quickly found the answer (after I realized you had to open the menu to interact with things).

Did anyone else run up to the Aetheryte and click-click-click it? Nothing!? And wtf does that little balloon up there mean?

Good times.

And it's going to be a constant 2369, not like later XI where there may be that many people in the city but only half or a third are logged in at any given time...oh the line at the linkshell npc is going to be epic.

It won't be that crowded. The game isn't that popular and even it's own fans are canceling their orders. I wouldn't worry about it.

I like to think that they're well aware the actual launch of the game is going to require more servers than the beta testing phase of the game. If not, then they don't have any business making MMOGs. :P

If this forums are from what we know about people starting in each city. 40-50% of those 14k be starting in Gridania(me being one of them). 5600-7000. Any1 and every1 be lagging/lagging out.

I think the servers will be fine to hold the people. I think server ques are a thing of the past. When 11 came out in NA it held somewhere around 6,000 per server and that was back in 04 if I remember. Technology is a whole lot better now.
Though 11 wasn't as known back then and it was only JP and NA also. The downloads were what really sucked. they could never handle the volume so many people had to wait for it to slow down before they could even start.

Maybe with the beta downloads they could some how include the files needed for the release to help.

It was hard enough in the beta trying to level on easy mobs.
So many running around killing anything in sight plus them higher level melees that could kill higher level mobs just rampaging through weaker mobs leaving you mostly running around looking for something you can kill.

I don't know how many where in beta but i hope the at the release it will pan out a bit since there will be more cities available.

LOL, good point. God help you if your trying to talk to a NPC to start a guildleve. good times, good times.

I've been following the preorder charts for about a month. They are updated weekly, and every week for FFXIV they increase by a larger amount. It's also a trend with preorders that there will be the largest jump in the 1-2 weeks prior to launch, so I would rethink that.
