Hiya guys,

I didn't get into the beta(*sob*), but I've got a few questions for those that did, or anyone that might be able to help. I've been sniffing around, but have failed to the answers so far, so I hope you can help me.

1: I understand about the different ranks (physical/job), but my question is how does armour level work? Does it go by your physical level or your job level? For example...say you are physical lvl 10, but conjerer lvl 1, which armour do I have to wear...level 10 or level 1 armour. I'm assuming armour and weapons have levels.

2: I heard or read somewhere that you apparently can't buy armour from npcs. Is this true? Will we have to buy all weapons/armour etc from players?

3: Linked into question 2, I also heard/read that there isn't go to be an AH. I can't remeber where I heard, but I have visions of the towns and fields choked with PC shops and having to spend hours looking through the shops for the armour I need because I can't buy it from an NPC.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer.

1. The armor/clothing is based on class rank, but each piece has an "Optimal Rank", if you wear it at that level you get the full effects from the bonuses like HP+10 DEX+2 etc. But you can wear it when you're below that rank and not get the full effect...something that's Optimal Rank 12 can be worn at Level1 but you won't get the full stat buffs.

2/3. I don't have any links on that, but right now there's no armor NPCs and it seems like the plan will be to stick with crafted gear(plus gear dropped/quested) They plan to stick with the retainer/bazaar market system, with improvements to come.

1: They currently don't. They have "suggested level's". This leads me to believe it's like the level sync system. If your armor is suggested level 10, and you wear it at lvl 1, it will down-grade accordingly.

2: In the BETA, it seems like bazzaring crafted items is the only way to go. But that should not be a BIG deal. Look at XI. Other then starting gear, did you really ever buy much from NPC's? Once there is an auction house, it should be fine.

3: If they dont implement a AH, I, and many others will rage. I don't think we'll know for sure till release, or perhaps in the open beta. Don't believe it till September 21st.

1. You would usually wear the level of your current class. Each piece of armor says "Optimal Level ##," which means that you can wear it (as far as I can tell), but it's recommended for a Rank 12 class.

2. Yes, at this moment, you can't find any armor being sold by NPCs. All armor is either obtained from Guildleves or other players.

3. Yeah, there's also not going to be an Auction House when the game launches. SE has come out and stated this, being they want to stabilize the economy through other methods first. You have to look through tons of bazaars to find what you want.

Hope this helps :D

I don't know about weapons because they are super hard to find/ridiculously expensive atm - but armour seems to be equippable at any level but it has an "optimal level" - I am guessing armour works a lot like say in FFXI when you did level synch - you could wear whatever armour but the benefits were really scaled down if you were wearing overpowered armour.

You can buy all the starter weapons from NPCs in the beta. If you want advanced weapons you need to buy from crafters atm.

SE has stated they do not plan to implement an auction house for launch. Keep in mind, FFXI did not have an AH at launch either. They may implement it in the future, but I think this is to encourage people to try crafting and also to help the economy develop on its own terms. Yes, it will be a pain in the *** at first but I am pretty confident players will come up with ways to make it work.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.

Thanks very much for clearing those things up for me. I'm really excited about playing and am eager for the launch....I hope I'll be able to get into the beat at some point so I can learn stuff before the release :)

I read somewhere that although this statement is tru in Beta SE was considering introducing other basic equipment (probably level 10 or under) purchased by NPC like in FFXI.
