Hope Auto-fail on dc changesFollow

I have mediocre net access (only thing I can get out here..) and its common for me to randomly get disconnected, its frustrating how often I get dc'd in a leve quest then log int o it being auto failed an locked out for...48 hours.

Really hoping they have common sense to change it to simply having the timer keep ticking while your logged out or at least giving me a couple minutes to log back in, I don't see the sense in failing it so quickly :(

Anyone else encountering this issue?

I had that happen too.

They probably won't fix it. Remember campaign and stuff? You dc'd you lost all progress.

I've heard you don't instant-fail the leve, but rather you have to go back to the Aetherite, reactivate it, and then finish it, all before the time on the level runs out (it still ticks down while you're offline and heading back to camp). However, if you're in time, especially with an easy leve, you should be able to finish it without much worry.

No, the OP is correct.. at the moment if you disconnect/logout/crash/freeze/whatever during a leve you just fail it, there's no recovering from it it's just done.

The proper thing to do would be to just give you the remainder of your half hour to finish the leve when you log back in, there's no real reason to auto-fail you.

You're a real ray of sunshine aren't you.. SE isn't perfect but you don't need to assume the worst until it actually happens

I'll try that when I dc after the leve reset today

edit aww too bad it doesn't work, I hope some kind of fix implemented by open beta or retail, I saw it mentioned several times in the levequest feedback thread in the beta forums (but I cant post there so...)

Oh, I dunno, given their track record on this thus far. . I'd say it's reasonable.

Seriously, this is starting to read like bad comedy. . . FFXIV is becoming to SE what Episodes 1-3 have become to the Star Wars saga ;)

If you are in a party you can rejoin the leve by going to the crystal; but alone, or perhaps if you are the main leve holder (not sure of the latter) you're screwed >_<

Reading how this does seem to be an issue and idea popped into my head that could possibly work when initiating a leve.

Basically when you start a leve the server will memorize the characters involved in the leve. As you progress through the leve the timer and the objective will also be memorized. If everyone happens to d/c mainly the leader the leve will automatically cancel. When the person who initiated the leve logs back in they will be given the option to "Reboot" the leve. Upon pressing Reboot they'll see the requirements to restart the leve such as the area and the names of the players involved.

When those requirements are fulfilled you'll be given a report of your current progression on the leve such as the amount of enemies you defeated or items you gathered and how much time you have left. Upon confirming the leve will restart basically right where you left off but instead of the enemy being exactly where they left off they'll start back with max HP since odds are the players will be well rested as well.

I'm aware there are other things to keep in mind so it may be possible for the Name list to notify if the player was weakened or not and if they were the amount of time they had left on weakness is given to them upon starting it up again. The only reason why it may sound complex is because I'm trying to make the restart of a leve work in a way where you can't exploit it such as, if you were weakened and the amount of time to unweaken was the rest of the duration of the leve, then the person could just force d/c or log, then log back on and wait for the weakness to wear before restarting.

It seems to me that it would be far simpler on everyone involved to simply keep the leve active with any timers continuing to count down.
