The day I heard Final Fantasy 11 was coming out I was living in Hawaii at the time and was very excited…mainly because I been a HUGE fan of the Final Fantasy series for the longest time and hearing SE making it into a MMO type game made it more exciting. Once the game was released to the general public I had a great time playing for a few months, made some great friends, and was in a awesome LS…until I got deployed to Iraq for a year. After my return found out the LS I was once in got disbanded, “well actually I was the only one with the link shell still attached. *sigh*” and everyone that I knew no longer played or moved on so, from that day forth I have been playing FF 11 on and off then finally quit a couple of years ago.

Sometime last month I was doing a Google search on when Star Wars: Old Republic and Hello Kitty Online Plat edition was going to come out. Accidentally I clicked on the wrong link taking me to a website on what MMOs are coming out this year and on the list I saw Final Fantasy 14. When I saw this I was shocked because for one I never knew they been working on one and two it was coming out in a few months! Well being a Final Fantasy fanatic I did my research. Learning as much as I can about the game and once I gather enough info I went head and reserve my copy of the collector’s edition. Now here I am waiting patiently for the game to come out and looking forward on meeting everyone in Final Fantasy 14! ^_^

So what’s your story?

PS: I know I should have known this game was coming out but because of things happening in RL mainly the birth of my son and stuff you tend to miss out on latest news. =(

lol, yeah... i assuredly thought that statement would have a follow-up joke but nope... 100% serious.... not even an explanation... its just completely normal to inquire about SW:OR and then think "hey, i wonder how Hello Kitty Online is coming along".....

lol

Yeah, all I can think of now is a bunch of US soldiers accessorizing their BDU's with Hello Kitty products.

Ah... well i'll had some constructiveness to the thread.

It all started some boring summer when I was 16... carless... girlfriendless... too old to do the crazy sh*t me and my friends did during the previous summers. I found myself messing around on the internet when I decided to see what the next FF would be about... thats when i saw FFXI. Up to this point in my life I had never even heard of a MMO. But I didn't care, it was a FF and it looked awesome. Too intrigued to wait for the NA version, I taught myself Japanese and ordered the JP version. I played for a little over 3 years before my girlfriend ended up transferring to my college and when that happened... goodbye FFXI (to keep coherency, got a gf, graduated hs, went off to college during this 3 years.)

Now, just graduated college. Got bored a couple months ago waiting for my career to start and a little deja vous occurred. I was bored oneday messing around on the internet when i thought "I wonder what the next FF is going to be about", thats when I saw FFXIV. And that's when I said "da*nit!" because I knew I wasn't going to be strong enough to stay true to my vow of never ever playing another MMO (they steal your life!). But oh well, here I am eagerly anticipating sept. 22.

Thats my story.

I started FFXI back around December of 03 at the young age of 14, i was a freshman in highschool, and most of my school day was spent daydreaming about FFXI. Trying to decide which job to level, get quick rich schemes(mainly during algebra as i could crunch numbers without looking suspicious), and counting down the hours until i went home and hit garlaige citadel, kuftal tunnel, or even valkurm dunes to level that day. I dont know how I successfully passed that year. :P

After about a year my cousins introduced me to this brand new MMO named World of Warcraft, now this is not the WoW we know of today, as hard as it is to remember the first few years of WoW were not populated by the elite, nerd raging entities as it is today. Early raiding of Molten Core, and Blackwing Lair were quite fun, but as the game grew in popularity, the community declined, and in my eyes the immersion of the game as well.

I continued to play WoW on and off up to around a year ago, and dabbled in Aion, even went back to FFXI around 3-4 times, but all my old friends were no where to be found, it just wasnt the same, and then i heard of FFXIV. Once news of this was introduced i pretty much lost interest in WoW other than the occasional relapse to play for a few weeks only to let history repeat itself. Thus here I am, just recently accepted into beta, enjoying exploring around learning the basics and trying not to ruin too much of the story and such before release day.

Less than a month ^^

I am ALWAYS up to date on FF game, I will follow them from the minute they are announced to the minute they are released to the minute I die of heart failure because all I do is sit in front of my TV and play FF games....ok, its not that bad but sometimes it can be. As for FFXIV, I was so surprised when I learned about it last year, and trust me i'm a big game fanatic...so for you TC not to know about this game until recently, is not a surprise for me. Either way, when I found out FFXIV would be online I was and still am excited as **** about it and can't wait to get rolling in September.

In both cases I started out flat-out refusing to take part.

For FFXI, when I heard about it I simply didn't think it was possible to make Final Fantasy into an MMO (and still have it feel like Final Fantasy). Then I saw my sister (who had picked it up at a friend's recommendation) in Gustaberg slaying a bee and I fell in love. I made sure my first kill was a bee in Gustaberg as well.

For FFXIV, I didn't want to play first of all because I had accomplished so much on my FFXI character and I didn't want to start over from square one. Secondly, FFXI had left a bad taste in my mouth, as my boyfriend at the time (who played FFXI as well) cheated on me with some girl in our LS. I figured there would be too many negative associations for me with the characters being the same. But my new boyfriend (also someone from my old LS; go figure!) gradually convinced me to give it a shot. And now I couldn't be more pumped! We're going to be a couple of Gridanian Miqo's, and I can't wait!
