Surplus EXP PetitionFollow

All -

I've debated a bit today as to whether I should make this thread. But, I figured "what the heck, why not?" given the clear feedback going on nearly every FFXIV forum.

We received a clear response from SE on their stance to the EXP Surplus. For those that haven't read it, you can read it here:

http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/11964-surplus-and-you-komoto-speaks/

The purpose of this thread is not to debate on whether you agree or disagree, but rather to collect players petition as to if they "agree that this functionality should be struck from the game". Meaning, completely remove the surplus (penalty) from the game altogether.

I realize they're planning to "address" the issue given feedback received, but the issue I have is - why is it even in the game to begin with. It serves no value having it. If you're simply going to extend the time duration so we don't hit the limit that easily, then just remove it.

Again, no need to post a bunch of comments, just simply do the following:

If you would like to see the surplus exp penalty removed from FFXIV, please reply to this post / petition indicating "I would like to see the surplus exp penalty removed". Nothing more needed.

Thanks for your time!

I didn't want to make a poll such as that, this has nothing to do with whether you will play the game or not, or whether you will support SE or not, STRICTLY if you feel that feature should be removed from the game.

Thanks!

Then why post on a thread which explicity asks for the removal of such mechanics?

My name is Seneleron, and I fully support this petition to remove the fatigue system from the game entirely.

Or adjust it so that you start out getting 150% XP/kill for 8ish hours, which dwindles over the next 7ish hours down to 100%. . and stays there.

P***ing off your hardcore fanbase is not the way to start a new game launch. Get em' hooked first, and THEN throw down the draconian content lockdowns ;)

I am fine with the surplus , 48hr cool down ect..... I just wanna play. In my many many years of playing FFXI I found many other things to do to occupy my time rather then LVin up non-stop. I for one plan on playing every class and that alone will eat up many hrs of the week. I know the game is going to be rly good, and I have no gripe with anything so far cept the hold on the PS3 version.

I'm sorry, but not to be mean, please try reading my post. I don't care if it doesn't bother you, if you'd like to make your own thread, petition, poll or whatever, to keep the surplus system in tact, feel free to do so. This thread is not for people who *want* to keep this feature, so I would appreciate if you put your opinion in the other threads.

This thread is specifically for people who want to see it removed.

I appreciate your cooperation.

I was just messing with you.

I understand that a lot of people are very upset about this, and it could be detrimental to many peoples play styles.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Other than giving them the idea to remove it then stiff us later, just remove it!

Sorry if I missed the answer to this one: does changing classes reset the fatigue timer? For example, if I spend eight hours playing as a Carpenter, can I avoid the exp depreciation by switching to another class?

Thanks.

What a crazy day.

Something tells me the system is going to be changed rather drastically by the Open Beta.

I'm in the wait-and-see crowd.

I would like to see the surplus exp penalty removed but I am far more concerned with the guildleve limit. I don't want to grind like I did in FFXI and if that is the case with FFXIV I'm saddened to say I wont play. I'll wait to see what kinds of changes they make in open beta but as things stand I wont be purchasing the game.

I believe that crafting classes are on a separate kind of timer (could be wrong, but I get that impression from the SE rep.), but switching from Gladiator to Marauder for example... Yes, that class has its own separate surplus, they aren't combined. (Only physical level surplus is shared between all classes.)

I fully support removing this system.

In fact if it's still in the game at the end of open beta I guarantee I will not be buying or playing FFXIV.

I'l likly not hunt/exp for more then 8 hours a week since I don't plan on playing as much as I did in FFXI, but I'm against a surplus exp penalty if its for the reason for making it "fair".

I'd accept it if they said "we don't want people to reach max level withen a week, end game stuff is not 100% done"(some MMOs I'v played were like this, people maxed fast and end game was not quite done).

Life isn't fair, let people play as much as they like.

I think it will eventuly get removed somewhere down the line.

I would much rather see Rested Experience that you accumulate while offline going up to any amount than this. Don't punish people who play a lot, instead give balance to those who don't.

Kill it with fire.

I have no intention of following through with my pre-order if this is the way SE is going to treat people.

I don't really see how this is going to make the playing field fair for anyone. The hard core will still be hard core, and maybe even MORESO now that they have to work even HARDER. I mean, I don't see this as a deterrent to those folks who stare at a screen for days waiting on a ground king pop. We are talking about some serious players here, and all this is going to do is upset anyone who might have a long stretch to play one week, but isn't necessarily hard core (vacations, snow days, etc.).

8 hours is a really bad limitation. They should have just stuck with the Empress Band model and then no one would have ********

I don't see how that double posted, either. Odd, I don't think that has ever happened to me before.

I didn't see the poll where it says play the game as is.

I'm for the challenge. No wait and see. Learn to play the game.

Assuming this is real and those images aren't faked it won't last. There's already about a bazillion feedback threads about how people hate it on the official NA beta site forums.

It's hard to say just how they feel about NA feedback. I would KILL to be able to understand what's going on on the Japanese boards right now concerning this. If they're just as up in arms as the NA boards, this may be tossed REAL quick.

I would very much like to see the surplus EXP penalty removed.

/petition

Something I'd like to note: Take into consideration the amount of people indicating that the presence of such a penalty would negatively effect their gameplay experience versus the amount of people indicating that the absence of such a penalty would negatively effect their gameplay. That should help clarify the issue regarding what should be done to best please the community majority (be that "casual", "midcore" or "hardcore").

Well, what I can say, is that all the "fanboy attention" sure as **** got SE's attention, now didn't it?

I mean heck, casual players will likely have guildleves up all the time, they'll get bonus when not doing guildleves since they will likely never hit the EXP penalty.

Other players, what do we get? The ******* shaft!

If someone is not going to play this game.. I dont want their signature to be taken into consideration on a game I am going to play and they are not. I wish people would petition for something useful... like dropping gas prices.. getting more jobs... you know something that should be considered life altering?
