I'm in the same boat. My PC is not up to par to play this game in anyway nor do I have the money to upgrade. My PS3 is waiting to suck in the new FFXIV disk and get to playing. But like i said b4 I just hope there is no game freeze like the 360 would do in FFXI, that's the only worry I have at the moment. May have to get a few fans to keep my PS3 nice and cool like I did with my 360, it helped a TON.

I feel bad for folks waiting for the PS3 release - I know it has been pretty agonizing for me to wait just till next month.

Yeah if I had no choice but to wait for PS3 launch I would rob a bank or computer store lol.

LOL don't tempt me with the robing a store so i can get my fix sooner on PC then later on the PS3. It is painful to have to wait, but i try to look at it as hoping they will have fixed any problems by then.

Heh...

I dropped $300 (+$60 pre order) the day the PS3 Slim as announced for the SOLE REASON of FFXIV.

The news of the delay was heart wrenching. I Immediately dropped $660 on a PC to Run FFXIV. I then bought a desk. A Monitor, a keyboard, the PC limited version, some cables, a chair and some other general computing stuff.

Total cost, $1200 EXTRA due to the 6 month delay.

My wife does not have a firm method of playing when release comes. We figure we will attempt to share the PC, as I will admittedly be somewhat tied up with Halo: Reach.

I am sadly addicted to FF, lol.

Where's the "My PC isn't great but why would I ever bother playing a MMO on a console" option? Voted for #1 instead.

Not much participation in this. No, I'm not awesome but my computer is.

I wasn't going to play at all but I talked myself into it, so I built a new pc to play.

And it's been **** not buying all the other stuff...besides a new chair, wireless keyboard and mouse, led fans because my case looked boring...

I was drunk on here wednesday or thursday night...woke up the next day wondering how much trouble I got into and who might need some apologies, but was surprised to see I was fairly civil. A few posts probably missed the intended point, but all good other than that...
Usually me drunk + keyboard & internet or cell phone = trouble...one of my guilty pleasures is visiting religious forums on such occasions...

It's all right, Zam actually unofficially welcome drunken posting.

Voted #1 not because I'm awesome but cuz I'm going to play on PC.

Besides... playing a MMORPG in a console is hard, no VoIP program, no browser, harder to obtain/use screen-shots and limited graphical customization. (and no eventual third party mods)

IDK why no one likes MMOs on console, I played FFXI on PS2 PC and 360 (mostly 360 in the later years) but i nvr had any problems. I knew how to get to all my many macros with speed, and had many comments that I always did a great job. I had 15 LV 75s and nvr missed a beat in battle. I have a laptop and a PC and the laptop is 2 feet from me and running 24/7 so I have no issues looking up anything for game or using a "VENT". I guess its personal choice rly. I rly am a big fan of graphics and I know PC can have great graphics but I'm 100% sure that FFXIV on PS3 will look amazing no doubt at all.

Very doable indeed, that's why I just said harder, instead of worse or some other word out of place.

However you are not playing only in a console, you are playing in a console added by a PC, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that it's just that using a single PC for everything should be easier, which was my only point and the reason I dislike consoles for MMORPG's.

Both my desktop and I are awesome. Destroyed the benchmark, and I'm running beta at 35+FPS with everything turned all the way up and every setting on.

Ill be playing from both.

My PC can handle some large games but it heats up my rig so ill have to optimize it a bit or build another.

While i do this i can play just fine on the PS3 just fine as i know i cant have my PC running FFXIV for hours with the CPU and GPU always running from 35% to 70% load.
I can run it on the PS3 for hours and there is really no heat issues or system dragging which could make your game stutter.
I bought 2 of these a while ago and works fine with FFXI:
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-NetPlay-Controller-Sony-Playstation/dp/B00006SKJ4
Hope they work with FFXIV.

How big is that thing? Do you hold it in the air while you play or set it on something? Is it heavy? It looks like it would make your arms tired if you had to hold it for hours at a time like a controller.

Heh, its as heavy and light as a basic keyboard and ps2 controller.
Its really very comfortable and convenient holding it or lying on your lap. I spent years using it playing FFXI on the PS2 and it was very easy to play and type.

Ive also got this one when i switched to the PS3:
http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Multimedia-optical-Trackball-2-4GHZ/dp/B000JJM7S0/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1283183144&sr=1-11
With this one you can hold the PS2/PS3 controller and leave this on your lap to type.
Its also compatible with the PC.

Uhh im late for work... and was having a great time in campaign /shutdown

My televisions in my living room are both about nine or ten feet from the couch and chair so consoles are a huge no-no for me in any game that requires a keyboard.
