Sorry if I'm adding another thread on this, but I'm really confused and if I word this the way I understand I can get this clear in my head.

OK.

Day 1 I setup my char. and start in as say a Thaumaturge.

Go out and play 8 hours. My Thaumaturge level and Physical rank would both level together right?
So say I'm level 5 on both after 8 hours. Then if I switch to Lancer, my physical level would still be 5, but my Lancer Level starts at 1. Now I would get 100 percent of leveling for Lancer for 8 hours. Less exp would be needed per level for the Lancer since he is 1 but my Physical is 5. In my mind this is a breakdown and I'm using sample exp numbers as I do not know what exp is needed for each level. Just follow what I'm saying..

Physical Level 1-2 EXP needed 50
Level 2-3 needed 100
Level 3-4 needed 150
Level 4-5 needed 200

Class Level 1-2 EXP needed 50
Level 2-3 needed 100
Level 3-4 needed 150
Level 4-5 needed 200

Then I switch to the second job. I have 500 exp for Physical. I have 500 for Thaumaturge. I have 0 for Lancer.
I level Lancer to 5. Would my Physical level continue to go up? If so, after 5 levels on Lancer, my Physical level, based on increasing 50 exp per level needed to ding, would be only be 6 (5-6 would need 250 and 6-7 would need 300), with 50 more exp needed to ding level 7. It seems like SE is trying to close the gap on the difference between your class level and the physical level. Then if I were to change to Archer for 8 hours, Physical level would only be Mid-8, while my Archer would be 5.

You can read this for some basic information:

But pretty much you can level your THU until the class experience for the last 8 hours equals some number. After this point you start to gain less class exp/mob. Eventually it would go away. But if you change classes that starts all over again.

However for physical you only have some amount of physical exp, you hit this and you are done until a week later.

Ok...So It's PHYSICAL they're capping. So then SE wants ALL your jobs to be the same level before you can progress it sounds like to me.

Not really, if you are casual you will only level one or two jobs. So SE probably thinks.

I kind of understand the purposes of putting a limit on some of the exp, especially physical. I still don't understand why they didn't scale down your physical level for lower level class ranks. It just seems weird to be able to have a capped out physical level and still exp on a rank 1 class.

Plus they probably don't want too many people hitting max level so quickly. I mean the cap for physical is like 30 or 40. Didn't the japan launch of FFXI (pre RotZ) have a lvl cap of 60 I think? I'm guessing they'll up the cap sometime. Think it was Redmoon that a friend had me play where there were hundreds of levels...S-E should just go that path and let the grind fest begin. :p
