Standard quests? [non-leve]Follow

Was wondering if there were still standard quests in the game like in FFXI. I.E. you walk around town, find an npc that gives you a little cut scene and needs you to do something for him/her, than gives you some random little thing in return.

This kind of thing really helps fill out the world and the gameplay and, mixed with guildleves, would offer a good breadth of content. If these were just completely replaced by guildleves than I would be somewhat disappointed. It'd make the gameworld seem more empty than it should be, and leave very little reason to talk to any random NPCs.

Has this been seen in beta at all, and/or is there any sign of it being in the game in the future?

Also, on a side note, [I don't think this is worth making another thread for], are there anything like two hour abilities in the game? Doesn't have to be on a two hour timer. Just some awesome ability that each class gets, that can't be used regularly. These really help to give character to the different classes, and are always just plain awesome.

I think the only thing like a 2 hour is the fact that when you change jobs you can only move a small set of things around. Therefore your two hour is that you can actually have a decent character.

Carl - "Shhhh, do you hear that? That is the sound of forgiveness."
"That is the sound of people drowning Carl."
Carl - "That is what forgiveness sounds like, screaming and then silence."

I don't think those are in the beta yet from what I've seen. But most everyone I know expects the normal quests to be in retail. The closest thing I saw in phase 3 was the Treasures of the Main quest, which seemed like the start of Limsa's story quest. It was pretty good and gave a lot of personality to the city.

As for abilities I only made it to rank 10, and the only thing I found with a long recast timer were the mage's mp replenishing spells, which had 30 minute recast timers. However, there are some good guides in the class specific forums with more info on spells and stuff.

As of now, there aren't too many quests. There is the mains storyline quests and that's about it. I think there probably will be some quests in the game, but probably not an overwhelming amount like WoW.

There are no 2-hour abilities currently, however they have not incorporated traits into the game yet so that might be something that comes about for release.

They've mentioned job quests I think and I imagine there will be other storyline content/quests to explore.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.
