Thats great news. So much earlier then I expected. Are they still accepting input or is this strictly a bug/stress test?

Forgive my slowness. I live on the west coast (Los Angeles) and was wondering when "19:00" is? I'm not good with things that run on a 24hr clock. I need increments of 12 lol. I'll assume its 7:00pm pst correct?

Since my PC is so old it still uses the DOS (that's "Dust Operating System" for those of you younger than my PC), and it took me forever just to be able to even download the P3 beta client, I'm assuming that once you have beta access, you're in for the rest of the phases. Can someone confirm this for me?

*The Open Beta Test will be online continuously for 24 hours a day.
*Maintenance and any other announcements will be posted accordingly.

*Information on testing dates and times will also be posted on the official FINAL FANTASY XIV Twitter feed.
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_JP
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_DE
http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_FR

Log-in Capacity
During the initial stages of the beta test, the number of players allowed to be logged in at any given time will be limited, with capacity to gradually increase as adjustments are performed on server load. Should the maximum capacity already be reached when you attempt to log in, a message will appear indicating that the world is currently congested, and you will be asked to try again in a short while. At this time you will be placed on a waiting list in the order of attempted log-in time. To maintain your position on the waiting list, you must initiate the log-in procedure again within ten minutes of your first attempt.

Feedback Submission
While playing, testers who have been asked to submit opinions on anything at all regarding topics such as game balance issues, settings that you may have found difficult to understand, and features that you felt were inconvenient, unintuitive, or required further explanation are asked to use the feedback hread, and for those testers who have been assigned the task of reporting bugs are asked to use the bug report form.

Got this from FFXIVCORE mainpage. Just thought it was something to add to the open beta info. ^.^

/comfort Pikko

I'd say you won't miss out much since there will be huge waiting lines (like in the stress test) and most likely plenty of server crashes the first few days.

More than likely, which is why they said those who got a key for Phase 3 should use it before the end of Phase 3. It will likely be a lot more users but I recall them using the classic Open Beta format, the dropping of the NDA, not so much everyone with internet access can get in.

Most likely you will need the beta keys to play the open beta, if you have the keys already, go register it and you can download.
otherwise, you can always google for the link to download the client first, I dont have the link for you now as i'm at work

Sweet! Definitely didn't see this so soon. And here I was bummed that I only had about 3-4 days to try out closed beta 3. Hopefully we'll continue to see a slew of improvements over B3.

There are none. There's not even a point for them anymore really. The closed beta is over. Open beta is (ostensibly) open to everyone.

You need to go sign up on Square's XIV site whenever they decide to open up signups.

We don't know if it's actually open to everyone, but we do know that open beta does come with a new application process.

When the new application process starts, you can apply here.

Edit: Looks like they need to get that started, since Open Beta starts in 4 days.

* IRRELEVANT FEEL FREE TO SKIP*

So pulled this from the NA beta site (probably has already been posted)
Quote:
Players will be able to transfer their character names from the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test to the official release. As long as the Worlds selected in the open beta test and the official release are the same, the character name used in the open beta test will be usable in the official release.

If a different World is selected, the player will be unable to transfer the character name, and possibly unable to create a new character with that name.

Please note that only the character's name can be transferred. Other data such as physical levels and items cannot be transferred.

*Upon the transfer of player character name, both selection of the world and character name input need to be done properly. Please make sure to remember both the world you belonged to and the name of the character you used during the Open Beta Test.
*With the character name that has been determined to be improper by Square Enix, the transfer may not be done.
*After the open beta test has concluded, the character names still existing on the account will be transferrable.

*EDIT* i had a question regarding this but I reread the news update and noticed i missed a key phrase that answered my question.

I was under the impression from one of the interviews that we were going to be able to keep our open beta character... but from this info it seems like we can only keep our names and not our character. Was anyone else under the impression we were going to be able to keep our open beta character or did I completely misinterpret something?

Pretty sure you misread something.
