Open beta client?Follow

I realise that there's been no announcement regarding when the client will be available for Open Beta, but I wondered if downloading the current client would be good enough, and it'll just need patching on wednesday? Or will the current client be scrapped altogether?

The reason I'd rather do this is the fact that people have complained about the client download being too slow, taking days in some cases, and it'd be good to download it well in advance to have a chance of getting in on wednesday. That said, if downloading the current client is recommended, where would we find it (given that some people were apparently banned for downloading it from the wrong place)?

I'm hoping the Client available to download at the moment is good enough, and then we just need to download extra patches for the open beta...I'm currently at 93% downloading the client available at the moment so I hope that works in Open Beta..

as for where to find it...you need a Beta Key, log into the Beta site, and then you'll see 'Download'...go from there.

It will either be patches or a whole new client. It really depends on how much they changed this time around.

Im not even sure how this open beta will work because for closed beta testers you had to first activate your key with your SE account, then login to the beta tester site and download the client from there.
So open beta most likely will require an SE account so you access an official download client.

For the last beta 3 client you could find it at the beta tester site (if you were given access) of find somewhere else like here: http://www.fileplanet.com/215249/210000/fileinfo/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Client
The old beta client may update itself or not for the open beta.
Ide hate to wait 72 hours again but this time there will be much more content so im leaving my beta 3 client in place till the open beta.

I keep trying to download client on FP and every time it immediately fails saying server is full or not allowing any more downloads.

Is that client updated for open beta or is it just the old one?

EDIT: My common sense says it's just the old one.

I am hoping they just patch what I have. God. It was enough of a nightmare trying to download the patches last time.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.
