All Around Issues and Annoyances I Have (FFXIV)Follow

I am currently involved in the FFXIV beta version. I used to play FFXI a lot back in the days and I did play for about two years before I switched to another game. Now that FFXIV is coming out I am more than excited and was stoked to get a beta key. However, there are several annoyances and issues I have had while playing the game. I kindly request that they be looked into and a change considered. If not then please just be aware that it is there.

When I entered into the world, I loved that cut scene. It was absolutely amazing and spectacular in every way possible. Then I got into town, talked to the kitty girl and the man about treasure who pinged my map with an outside location. Awesome, I thought. Until I tried to get outside. Wow the map needs directions or a help key or something like that. I had no idea where the **** I was going and for the first 15min it was me getting lost, asking for directions (with no help sadly) until i figured it out by myself. That was no biggy for me because most games you start for the first time you are all like "WHERE AM I!? WHAT IS THIS!? HOLY sh*t AHHHH!!!"

I got outside and saw this rat thing on the group, so I figured being a 'monk' sort of class that I could own that. Now when I went to click on the rat thing I clicked 3 times and got into no battle screen or anything. So as I look like I am away from the computer or just staring at the pretty colors this mage comes along and steals my rat. Which again made me sad, but the respawn rate is amazing and I found another one right away. So...attempt two! I click twice, once on the rat thing, and once on the button number 1 which is to smash it's face in. Awesome, it worked this time and I had to keep pressing 1 to attack it. I later found out I could just press and hold 1 until the bar was green then she would do it all on her own...once...so I had to press and hold 1 again. Which brings me to my next annoyance...where happened to auto-attack? I liked being able to attack a mob in FFXI (and World of Warcrack) and be able to auto attack without constantly having to press 1. I think the 1-9 thing would be great for a quick macro sort of set up but it is annoying to have to smash the button for a simple attack.

Also I had no idea what to do when I gained a level...wait there are no levels so skill points? I guess that's what they are right? Anyway and I didn't even notice a got a new move. If it mentioned it at all putting it in a different font color (than the blue. so imagine, blue GREEN blue, in one sentence.) to stick out from the spam on the screen would be handy too. Now when I went to search for these 'points' I earned it was easy to use and I was happy after, that is assuming I put them in the right spots...A small description on what spot gives me what would be just as amazing too! Or something like that little Moogle pop up you get in FFIX where he points to what you are on and is all "This does this, and gives you that, which in turn is good because of this!" I had to find out I got a new move by setting it to my number 2 button. Which is okay I guess but a little annoying. What happens when you run out of room? Do I just not get the option of having that spell conveniently there for me? That would suck a bit. In FFXI sometimes I was like "OH sh*t!" and had to rampage through my spells to get that one out that I just didn't seem to have macro'd. I am sure many people have done that before.

Lets continue on shall we? So I enter the camp ground and see this huge shinny blue thing for the first time. I was all "YAY HOME POINT CRYSTAL!" and ran up to it, and clicked on it about 4 times before noticing the thing didn't want to talk to me or ask me about my home point issues. So then I figured it must just be for higher level people. I talk to everyone then go on my own way. I come back 2 hours later and click on the shinny again to get a funky glow and it talking to me and asking if I need help. Which made me think, again that clicking and confirming are having big issues. The thing I didn't get though was it didn't ask about home point. So I figured there was no home point or something (maybe I have to run back to my body! Joy...)

So I go out again. To do this mole mission thing and I soon realize that this mob is owning me, and I mean really really hard. Then 3 more jump in and start to own me. And then I though to myself, where is the check button on this darn thing. You know the one that says "don't attack me I will @#%^ you up". Way later I go into camp and ask and someone tells me there are colors beside there names and if it is red it means don't touch, and I want a green ish color, or yellow if I feel lucky (siiigh). So me doing this alone at such a low leve- I mean point system is apparently not good and that I should probably do what is best and RUN AWAY! Only I press escape 20 times, turn around to run, keep going and going then die. Which brings me to my next question. Where is the "Call for help" button? That thing saved my **** more than I can remember when I was in groups and it was just awesome. The best button ever for a noob (unless it was used on a rare mob NM or HNM). So I wait there. Dead. and wait. and wait. someone came by looked at me, ran away, so I waited some more. I decided as I wait here for 10 min that I should look at my list of things and see where I might be able to improve. Then I see a new button at the bottom called "return". So I click on it. BAM I am at camp and weakened. I think there should be some you know hint that you should click that button. I used to have the screen ask you right away "return to home point?" and yes or no. You could even click on yourself to bring it up again if you needed to. So something like that...would be better than hiding the button on me. I would appreciate it.

SUGGESTIONS

1. Map directions would be nice
2. Clicking and confirming
3. Auto-attack would be GRAND!
4. Spam/Color Difference would help when obtaining new moves. Or a warning of some sort.
5. I miss levels. The point system is nifty, and levels in a way when you choose what you can upgrade...but I miss levels and the awesome theme music! This is Final Fantasy after all, theme music is important.
6. Helpful Moogle button! Or something...
7. A spell list handy
8. Clicking and confirming (seriously, needs some help there)
9. Helpful Moogle should randomly pop up ONCE, point to the mob color and say "red is bad, yellow is kind of bad, green is good"
10. "Call for help" button of awesome sauce
11. Make return button more visible! Or make Moogle tell you about it :P

I think that was all that annoyed me and the issues should be looked into, fixed, or considered. Either or is fine by me as long as you read this.
Did anyone else have these issues too? Or some other issues or annoyances. Please share if you did. So I can see if it happens to me again and maybe it will get fixed too :)

Thank you for your time!

Tutorials are really lacking right now. I hope they improve a bit for Open beta at least. I seen some discussion about them not putting too much work into them because fansites "would eventually make better ones". I hope this isn't true.

1. as with all new worlds, once you get used to the area, you can navigate it just fine, and besides, in some quests if you click on the "map" button, it kinda shows you were to go.
2. dont understand the problem, when i did beta, i was able to click on something and lock onto it...
3. The whole point in doing a more 'active' sort of game is to get rid of people being bored by only auto attacking, getting people more involved.
4. Do belive you can change the color scheme in the configuration, and again, with all study, you'll learn what you have upcoming in certain ranks of your class.
5. ... there are levels... and you do know when you finish a leve, the 'victory music' plays, also im gonnna go out on a limb and bet a dollar that the chocobo music will be there..
6. Helpful moogle button.... think thats called "Google" or something lol
7. Beta.. there will be guides out within 24 hours after release.. heck.. probably be some out before.
8.9. Repeating things ...but we all will learn about the colored dots by the mobs name and figure out their level, stats, blah blah....
10.They may put something in there like that, dont know though
11.Always look at your menu's, also think there's a manual included with the game, they've kinda released it to beta players and it does say something in it about returning and teleporting (yea, i know, who reads the manual)

Other than the bugs, really the only problem I have with the game right now is that it should auto sheathe your weapon after combat.

The only issue I have with not having auto-attack is, if you're soloing something and D/C. . . even if it's easy prey and it's almost dead. . by the time you can get back online you're squeeeeshed.

On the beta site is a section devoted entirely to a mini-walkthrough/new player's guide of sorts. It explains how to do many of the things you seemed to have trouble with when you first logged on and clicked around aimlessly on some rats. The initial cut-scene also required you to draw your weapon and attack a jellyfish. How did you manage that and not understand how to attack something?

Hate to say this, but did you RTFM? The Aetheryte in game also explains stats and what they do for you.

There wasn't a ton of "How to" info in-game, but most is fairly easy to figure out if you mess around with the menus a bit. The hardest part was placing skills on your skill bar and that just took some trial and error with the muddled way the menu was organized.

If you just jumped right into the game expecting to know how to do everything perfectly by absorbing knowledge from thin air, then sorry but I've got no sympathy.

I felt the same until I accessed the beta tester website and read the game manual. All was well after that except for the menu scroll item lag.

In regards to number 3, auto-attack is going to be a thing of the past soon - it would be a good idea to get used to this now, as more and more MMORPGs are coming out that do not have it, including FFXIV and SWTOR.

I spent some time sitting at the 1st camp chattin' with people and there were so many questions asked to which the answer was "The aetheryte you're standing at tells you" Found that interesting...
