and the normal edition is on the 30/09
does this mean if i get the CE i get to play a week earlier?

I ordered the CE because I live somewhere where they dont get these things until a few weeks/months after release. So I order from Amazon.co.uk and get it shipped to me here. That will take about a week from when it arrives to my address in the UK. So even though I'm paying for it I probably wont be playing it early!! :(

Eh, if you got the non-CE version it'll still take a week to ship it to you so you'll still be playing "early" based on when you can get the games.

Yeah but the CE version will ship a week earlier so get to me a week earlier - probably right when the normal retail version will be being installed on peoples PC's and laptops but meh I'm used to it.

But again if you got the non-CE version you'd be 2 weeks behind the CE version and 1 week behind the rest still. :P

As long as it's done with the really bad acid trip visuals it's ok.

If you want midnight release, just go to your local walmart. Bug whoever is in electronics to look in the back till they find it.

Even if there was a midnight release you'd still have to wait for SE to flip on the servers.

Also, even though I am getting the CE for the 22nd I'm betting on not being able to actually play it until the 23rd because of some technical problem.

Isn't it the same release day for JP? That'd mean the servers should be up and running before our midnight release, and hopefully that they've started working out some of the major bugs.

Is it unhealthy for me to set my hopes so high? >.<

I went with the CE, because of the art book, authenticator, and honestly I'd spend more than $25 trying to curb my boredom for that last week before release. I do kind of figure though that I'll get my copy delivered by amazon at like 4:30 and not have the thing patched up and installed by midnight.

Amazon do a thing called prime that is free next day delivery if you order stuff before about 5pm. £50 a year, so great if you order lots of stuff.

If you don't order much stuff they used to do (and I assume still do) a month free trial of prime. Get it for the game, just remember to cancel it before the month ends to avoid getting charged.

It's free 2-day shipping, unless it's different on the EU side.

Depending on when open beta ends if ill be playing early on the 22nd or mid day lol. My gamestop doesnt do PC games unless you preorder and they will do it that way. Im probably the only one that ordered one so maybe I can get them to just give it to me when they receive it.

Heh, I've tried going to walmart for a midnight release before. <.<
There were like ten people waiting and the employees just ignored us until a good half an hour later. Then, when they finally went to sell the games, there was an error and the computer said it still wasn't supposed to be released. So we just had to leave, after waiting around forever. :(

Edit: Forgot the quote.

I'm still trying to figure out why the EU version has a tumbler and the NA version doesn't. EU gets every thing we do, plus a tumbler. Doesn't make sense. I DEMAND A BEVERAGE CONTAINER!!!11

While Prime does give free 2-day shipping it also gives free release date shipping. Not really sure why but it does allow you to ship it on the day for free. I guess because it also seems that release date shipping is cheaper than 1 or 2 day shipping for some bizarre reason.

I had planned on getting the Standard edition until I read this thread. Knowing that people are having issues with time limits in leves sealed the deal for me. Onion Helm is definitely the way to go. Hadn't thought much about that since I didn't do much of the timed missions in FFXI. Thanks all for helping me decide.
