So i started playing ff11 long ago when it 1st came out. after about a year of playing,i lost the internet for few months do to bills, other things. when i got it back for the life of me i could not get my account back. so i did the next best thing. I went out and got another account. started lvling it up. 3 years later or,so i had to move so we were with out internet for while again.during this time i didn't pay for my ff11 account & so i just gave up on playing cause i did not want to start all over again.are they,as in se going to make it easier to get your characters back if you can not pay for a month or so? or are they gone for good again.they might have set something up in last few years but i have not even put it back into my pc cause i just did not want to be so disappointed again.

Well, as the game hasn't come out yet, and no one has had to stop playing for a month, it's a little hard to confirm what will happen.

Pretty much in the 'fine' print (one of the many hidden pages) basically they state that if you dont activate your content ID within 3 months, they usually delete it, along with all info attached to it, and there's no hope in saving it.

So i'm pretty sure if you take a 'break' for one reason or another, you're gonna be screwed over as usual per Squenix.

Happened to me, tried calling tech support, they said they'd send it to 'special support' because i had the character for 3 years, never got contacted. Contacted them again, they said they had no record of me talking to them, and they'd send it again to "special support" team.... again.. no contact, so i gave up, thats when i was looking it all up and found all of it out.

Doesnt happen to everyone, heard of some people coming back after years off and their character still there, but guess they're the lucky ones lol

Canceling your FFXI account doesn't mean your chars all get deleted. SE reserves the right to, but honestly I don't know of anyone whose chars actually did get deleted. It's possible they'd make you wait a bit before they "restore" your chars, but everything should still be available on their servers somewhere. I'd be surprised if FFXIV was any different.

yah i went back to the game after 3-4 years and i had my character sitting there @_@

But i bought another account because i played for 3 months when the game came out and quit. My ID got deleted. SO got another one and iv had that one since then.

I heard they removed the 3month limit?

Probably started as part of the "Welcome Home to Vana'diel" campaigns, though it'd be more effort to get rid of data than keep it, so it was probably just a procedure change (start letting people get old chars back at least during predefined times). Myzldas's char(s) should all still be there were he so inclined to get them back, but I don't blame him for being upset with SE. It's pretty silly not to let people just come back at any time (and maybe they finally do these days), since it's easy money for SE. :\

I would also like to donate a few <Shift> to the original message. It seems to be missing a dash of capital letters.

I've had the worst luck trying to get any sort of help from FFXI so called customer service. After moving a few times and losing the original box set, they refused to release account information because one address detail was off or they wanted a CC number which no longer exists.

i guess it depends how much time you spent with an account. If someone just played for 2-3 months they would probably delete it after the 3 month period they state.

I played for about 4 years and I quit 2.5 years ago. I just reactivated my ffxi account and was able to log in no problems this past month. So who knows how they really do it anymore.
